WilliamsonStewards – G. Goold, S. Fletcher, R. Hanson, J. Mitchell, O. LeggGENERAL Stewards asked the club Doctor to examine Apprentice R. Thorburn and he was subsequently cleared for his engagements.Race 1: PROTEST PAYOUTS - TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 MAPOLLO TEN – Checked approaching the winning post when tightened for room. BOLD CHANGE – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight. Lost near fore plate. BRAIDWOOD PRINCE – Began awkwardly, failed to muster speed early and raced greenly throughout the majority of the event. KING SPIRIT – Checked approaching the winning post when tightened for room. MELTDOWN – Began awkwardly and bumped with GOOD DAY MAE. When asked to comment on today’s performance, PUMICESTONE ROAD – Lost off hind plate. RAMP IT UP – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight and laid in from the 100m. Approaching the 50m, when RAMP IT UP continued to lay in under pressure, J. Bayliss attempted to obtain a further hold on its near side rein and failed to do so resulting in him becoming extremely unbalanced in the saddle and almost being dislodged, as a result of this, his mount shifted in abruptly, tightening APOLLO TEN and KING SPIRIT. Stewards inquired into this incident and found that Jockey J. Bayliss’ failure to maintain use of the near side rein, had resulted in the interference, they were satisfied that it was his attempt to ride with care that led to this incident and therefore took no further action. AMBERINGER – Inconvenienced approaching the winning post. GOOD DAY MAE – Began awkwardly and bumped with MELTDOWN. Blundered passing the 500m. Race 2: THE LONG RUN BY CUB CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000 MTHELWELL – Began awkwardly. INVINOVICH – Steadied from heels approaching the 100m when racing in restricted room between THELWELL which shifted out and LAYDOWNLILY which shifted in. YOUR TOO GOOD – Held up rounding the home turn up until the 300m. JABALI RIDGE – Raced wide throughout. MEHAJIR – Began awkwardly.Race 3: MAEVA HOSPITALITY MAIDEN PLATE 1600 MBRAMBLE BAY– Began awkwardly. Raced wide until the 800m. BUFFETT – Began awkwardly and bumped with GOOD KARMA. Over raced when the pace of the race slackened near the 1400m. FOSSIL FUEL – Slow to begin. Over raced when the pace of the race slackened near the 1400m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200m and went to the line without being fully tested. NO BRAKES – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. SHABOOH SHALAA – Approaching the 1300m, bumped and was taken inwards by IT’SALLSAIDANDONE which shifted in, causing the runners inside of him to be taken inwards. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Thompson rider of IT’SALLSAIDANDONE was charged and pleaded guilty to careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when leaving the 1400m, on two occasions, making contact with SHABOOH SHALAA forcing that horse in onto VERMILION KIRIN causing interference to both SHABOOH SHALAA and VERMILION KIRIN and causing GOOD KARMA to be steadied at that point. Jockey A. Thompson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, commencing midnight 24/8/2024 up to and including midnight 4/9/2024. VERMILION KIRIN – Approaching the 1300m, bumped and was taken inwards by SHABOOH SHALAA which was bumped and taken inwards by IT’SALLSAIDANDONE. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.LADY DEANNE – Raced wide throughout. GOOD KARMA – Fractious in the barriers and as a result began awkwardly and bumped with BUFFETT. Steadied approaching the 1300m when VERMILION KIRIN was forced inwards by outside runners. Steadied from heels approaching the 600m. Disappointed for a run near the 400m and was obliged to alter course to obtain clear running. GRAPE EXPECTATIONS – Steadied from heels near the 1300m. Race 4: XXXX ULTRA ZERO CARB GREAT TASTE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1800 MCOLLEAGUES (NZ) – Held up rounding the home until turn near the 300m. TAVIS TOWN (NZ) – Apprentice F. Sandkuhl reported her mount had a tendency to over race whilst leading. GRECIAN LASS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on it’s off hindleg. SINGER SARGENT – Slow to begin. CAPE CRUSADER – Near the 400m disappointed for a run when racing to the outside of DIABLO BOLT which was taken out by COLLEAGUES. Leaving the 400m was held up for clear running until near the 300m. BIG TICKET BOY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: TOGETHER WE PLAY - KENO CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1800 MMEAT PIE ARTIE – Began awkwardly and steadied from heels shortly after. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported that his mount hung out for the majority of the event and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. PICKAXE – Shifted ground and contacted with PARIS ART approaching the 200m. HIGHLAND HILL – When asked to comment on the perceived improved performance, Trainer J. Wallace indicated that the gelding had done well since it’s last start and a drop in grade today in his opinion was beneficial. AROUND THE BUOY (NZ) – Slow to begin. FARWEST – Over raced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 400m. MIGHTY JUDD – Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn. GOLD PRINCE – Raced wide for the majority. PARIS ART – Shifted ground and contacted PICKAXE approaching the 200m.Race 6: CELLARBRATIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 MRHUVAAL – Improved onto heels near the 600m and again at the 400m. WING NUT – Began awkwardly. Held up from clear running from the 500m until approaching the 300m. SASSY BEANS – Began awkwardly. PRINCESS MONEYBAGS – Over raced in the middle stages and steadied from heels near the 600m. Raced wide throughout. DEEP DAWN – Over raced in the early stages. FIERCE ROYALTY – Raced wide throughout. THAT KISS – Raced wide throughout. CHIARO DI LUNA – Shifted out on jumping. Trainer K. Clark and L. Peoples were reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. REMANDED – Began awkwardly. YOU'LL NEVER GUESS – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Race 7: HOSTPLUS CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 MBEAUTANTES – Laid in from the 600m, particularly when under pressure in the home straight. I AM MASON – Trainer D. Vandyke advised a change of tactics, and I AM MASON would attempt to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced wide early until approaching the 700m. Inconvenienced after approaching the 100m when racing to the inside of BEAUTANTES which laid in under pressure. NEW HAMPSHIRE – Jockey J. Orman reported it wasn’t his intention to lead but after beginning well, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward. DIVINE GEM – Near the 100m, obliged to race in restricted room and steady when racing between BRIGHT BLONDE which shifted out and BEAUTANTES which laid in. SIBELIUS – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer’s representative for A. Neasham was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. SONG SUNG BLUE – As Apprentice C. Sutherland was unwell and unable to fulfil his engagement, Stewards permitted Apprentice S. Willis to replace him. C. Sutherland was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Apprentice S. Willis stated that her mount raced ungenerously and may have resented the tongue tie. Race 8: QUEENSLAND HOTELS ASSOCIATION BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 MKEMI ZABI – Leaving the 1000m raced in restricted room and steadied from the heels of JUKEBOX GLOW which laid in and away from POWER OF THE BRAVE. LITTLE VISTA – Bumped after the start. Jockey D. Smith was fined $400 pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the final three strides of the event. TURBULENT – Raced wide throughout.MISS EMMA – Trainer C. Waller advised a change of tactics and MISS EMMA would attempt to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Bumped after the start. After passing the 600m and becoming awkwardly placed at heels, blundered when approaching the 500m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SHE'S JESSIE – Raced wide throughout. THE LAST SAGA – Leaving the 1000m steadied from the heels of KEMI ZABI. Steadied from heels approaching the 500m.
