GENERAL
 
Trainer D Hansen was fined $200 under LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider on EBONY KING by the prescribed time.
 
As B Thornton was ill, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the race day summary sheet. B Thornton was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride.
 
Race 1:HIGGINS COATINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
 
HASBULLA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LANTAU ISLAND – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Orman could offer no explanation, adding the stable indicated consideration would now be given to sending the gelding for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed symptoms of mild heart stress. Trainer T Gollan advised he would now consider sending LANTAU ISLAND for a spell.
 
TUFF TU MUS – Began very awkwardly and lost significant ground. Passing the 200m obliged to shift out to secure clear running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed symptoms of mild heart stress.
 
VENCE – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
PRIVATE EQUITY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

SOFALA – Began awkwardly resulting in rider T Fenlon becoming momentarily unbalanced.Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE PROPHECY – Raced ungenerously and inclined to lay out in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

HEAVENWOOD – Passing the 700m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
PACIFIC PIRATE – Slow to begin.
 

 
Race 2:BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE         1600 M
 
CRUSADER RAZOR – Jumped out at the start and bumped ON THE VEUVE.
 
DURBAN HARBOUR – Slow to begin.
 
RESURRECTED – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Rider J Guthmann-Chester reported the gelding did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 600m and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer representative T Pollard was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG and must also trial satisfactorily over 1000m prior to its next race start.
 
WARRANT – Inconvenienced near 1300m.
 
WINDY WHEELS – Jumped in at the start and bumped RESURRECTED.
 
BETATHANEVA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
EFFIE'S JOY – Improved onto heels near the 600m and had to be steadied.
 
FREE AS THE WIND – Laid out near the 1300m inconveniencing WARRANT and KELLISA.
 
KELLISA – Inconvenienced near 1300m.Laid out rounding the home turn when weakening.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LADY DEANNE – Slow to begin.Rounding the home turn improved onto heels, had to be steadied before shifting wider on the track a short distance later to secure clear running.Passing the 200m improved onto the heels of the tiring DURBAN HARBOUR and had to be checked.
 
ON THE VEUVE – Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider B Wheeler reported the mare did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race, was under pressure from the 1000m, and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off-hind leg. Trainer R Lipp was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
 
Race 3:DOUBLE R GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1600 M
 
MIDORI MOVER – Slow to begin. Near the 1300m raced in restricted room and had to be steadied. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 350m.
 
MISS MIRIAM – Change of tactics to be ridden with cover. Ridden accordingly. When asked to comment rider D Thornton reported the mare failed to respond to his riding from the 600m and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia for the second time. Trainer J Bruce was advised MISS MIRIAM would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an echo cardiogram and two ECG’s (performed at rest and after exercise) and must also trial satisfactorily over 1000m prior to its next race start. Mr Bruce advised it was now his intention to spell MISS MIRIAM.
 
BOVIDAE – Rider J Huxtable reported he had concerns with the action of gelding behind during the race and for this reason he desisted from pressuring BOVIDAE from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealedlameness in the off-hind leg.Trainer D Murphy was advised BOVIDAE would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
JENNI MOREESE – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn before shifting out near the 350m to obtain clear running.
 
PINTURA ROSA – Near the 350m taken out by JENNI MOREESE and bumped MIDORI MOVER on the hindquarters resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
 
 
 
Race 4: CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2200 M
 
SPRAY GUN – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
GLEN MASSEY – Commenced to race keenly near the 1800m due to the slow early pace of the race, left a midfield trailing position near the 1600m and progressed forward to race outside the leader at the 1300m. Apprentice E Lang, rider of GOOGAZ, was reminded of her obligations when steadying the pace when leading in races.
 
GOOGAZ – When the pace was eased in the middle stages, steadied from heels near the 1200m and had to be restrained. Apprentice T Fenlon, rider of BRIEF SOJOURN, was reminded of her obligations when steadying the pace when leading in races.
 
SIMPLY REFUSE – Slow to begin. M Rodd, rider of SIMPLY REFUSE, was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 14 occasions prior to the 100m, 9 times more than permitted (16 occasions in totality), to commence midnight 31st August up to and including 12th September 2024.
 
BRIEF SOJOURN – Raced wide in the early stages and progressed forward to lead the event from the 1300m. Inclined to lay out from the 800m.
 
IRIDESSA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BAK DA MAN – Held up rounding the home turn and early stages of the home straight. Bumped with SHY GUY approaching the 300m.
 
SHY GUY – Bumped with BAK DA MAN approaching the 300m.
 
 
Race 5: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE    1200 M
 
CLIMACTIC – Bumped with BANKSIA BEACH at the start.
 
SILK WARRIOR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SUSPICIOUS AL – Bumped at the start.
 
TORO STRIKE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BANKSIA BEACH – Bumped with CLIMACTIC at the start. Inclined to lay out from the 500m. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
GRANDMA'S LOVE – Jumped out at the start and bumped HARLEY CHARLIE.
 
HARLEY CHARLIE – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 6: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 M
 
EBONY KING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TRIBECA STAR – Held up for clear running between the 500m until passing the 300m.
 
RIMBAUD – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn before securing clear running near 350m.
 
DOVETAIL DIVA – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination that revealed a minor laceration to its tongue and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SNOW BOUM – Began awkwardly. Near the 300m tightened for room when weakening.
 
 
Race 7: SHERRIN RENTALS FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
ALLOW ME – Jumped in abruptly at the start. Rider B Wheeler reported when asked to quicken the mare responded to his riding however was somewhat disappointing over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer T Mackinnon advised it was now her intention to have ALLOW ME scoped in the coming days and would report back to Stewards any findings.
 
IMARICHGIRL – Checked at the start and lost significant ground when ALLOW ME shifted in abruptly at the start. Momentarily disappointed for a run near the 200m. Passing the 100m inconvenienced when TRES ROUDETE (D Thornton) shifted out under pressure. D Thornton was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
TRES REDOUTE – Laid out under pressure approaching the 100m.
 
ANOTHER PEDRILLE – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 800m.
 
ISLA'S DAY – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
 
LA SEULE – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Steadied approaching 100m when ALLOW ME (B Wheeler) shifted in under pressure.  Apprentice Wheeler was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in this incident.
 
 
Race 8:MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
SENESCHAL – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Rounding the home turn taken wider on the track and lost ground after being bumped by KARAOKE AL which was taken out by REDENTE CHOICE. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BILLIONAIR BABY – Laid out near the 300m resulting in REDENTE CHOICE being taken out and KARAOKE AL being steadied.Rider N Callow advised he desisted from pressuring the gelding in the home straight after he became concerned with its action.A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer R Heathcote was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
THANKFUL HEART – When asked to comment rider D Thornton advised the horse over-raced throughout the event and in his opinion this had an effect on its overall performance.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
KING TARIK – Slow to begin.
 
TURBULENT – Slow to begin.
 
DEVOCEAN – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
THE KEWESS – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 700m.Held up for clear running between the 500m and 300m. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer M Dunn indicated with blinkers applied for the first time today the stable was confident of a forward showing.
 
KARAOKE AL – Rounding the home turn forced wider on the track. At a subsequent inquiry J Bayliss, rider of REDENTE CHOICE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that leaving the 500m, after initially following THE KEWESS, he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear resulting in KARAOKE AL being forced wider on the track which in turn resulted in SENESCHAL being heavily bumped and taken wider on the track. The licence of J Bayliss to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 1st September up to and including 9th September 2024. Steadied near the 300m.
 
WHERE YA BEAN – Near the 800m momentarily steadied after being crossed by KARAOKE AL.Leaving the 600m had to be restrained when obliged to steady from the heels of KARAOKE AL which was taken out by REDENTE CHOICE (J Bayliss) which shifted out to improve.J Bayliss was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer S Dwyer was advised WHERE YA BEAN would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for 3 months and must trial satisfactorily over 1000m prior to its next race start.
 
BITOFTHEBLARNEY – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
REDENTE CHOICE – Taken out passing the 300m when BILLIONAIRE BABY laid out.
