GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights at today’s meeting:
Race 3: REMANDED – T Brooker 55kg (+0.5kg)
Race 3: HURRICANE ROSIE – M Cahill 55kg (+1kg)
Race 7: ANOTHER Dazzler – J Stanley 55kg (+1kg)
 
 
Race 1:MARTIN COLLINS POLYTRACK QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
After runners had arrived behind the barriers and prior to the horses being loaded, Stewards were notified that an oncourse patron required immediate medical attention. As a result, all runners were returned to the tie-up stalls. The start time of this race amended to 1:15pm, with all runners undergoing a veterinary inspection prior to re-entering the mounting enclosure. Subsequently all races were all put back one time slot with Race 8 start time amended to 5:18pm.
 
NINJITZOU – Slow to begin. When the pace of the race eased near the 800m, had to be restrained and lost ground.
 
OUR BENEFACTOR – Slow to begin. Rider M Cahill reported after being slow to begin the colt raced greenly throughout the event, then had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. M Cahill added OUR BENEFACTOR would derive benefit from the race experience and would also appreciate a step up in distance.
 
ROCK THE SUNRISE – Held up rounding the home turn, and when shifting out to obtain clear running near the 400m, bumped with ROYAL GLADIATOR for a number of strides.
 
ROYAL GLADIATOR – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Bumped on a number of occasions near the 400m when ROCK THE SUNRISE shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
HACKING – Slow to begin. When the pace of the race eased near the 800m, had to be restrained and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MARGOT'S STAR – Bumped at the start. When the pace of the race eased near the 800m, had to be restrained and lost ground.
 
FIREUPZOUS – Began awkwardly shifted in and bumped MARGOT’S STAR. Raced keenly in the early stages. When the pace of the race eased near the 800m, had to be restrained and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PUMICESTONE ROAD – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 2: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1600 M
 
PENDING – Near the 400m held up before shifting back to the inside to secure clear running a short distance later.
 
SOKUDO – Near the 350m was taken out by WINTER’S PROMISE (A Mallyon) which shifted out to improve and as a consequence bumped with SAYS WHO resulting both runners becoming unbalanced. Rider A Mallyon was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
CRYPTO CURRENCY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages when leading the event.
 
FLIC EN FLAC – Rider J Orman reported the mare raced flat today and may not have backed up from its most recent start at SCTC on Wednesday 21st August 2024. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post -race recovery and symptoms of mild heat stress.
 
DECEMBER DIAMOND – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from the right nostril only. Trainer P Jenkins was advised under AR79(8) DECEMBER DIAMOND must gallop or trial over 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.
 
 
 
Race 3: SUNSHINE COAST RIDING FOR THE DISABLED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1600M
 
SHABOOH SHALAA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SASSY BEANS – Change of tactics, with the addition of blinkers, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
SIR LEONIDAS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FOSSIL FUEL – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
CYPHER PRINCE – Had a tendency to lay out throughout the event.
 
VIKING BLOOD – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until a point near the 200m.
 
MINGARDOS – Checked and tightened for room near the 1200m, contacting the running rail and losing ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
GOOD KARMA – Slow to begin. Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1200m.
 
TALAKAI – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Checked from heels near the 1100m. Near the 600m held up behind the weakening DEIFIC and obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running in order to improve.
 
DEIFIC – Checked from heels and lost ground after being taken in passing the 1200m. At a subsequent inquiry C Collis, rider of FIERCE ROYALTY and represented by senior rider N Beriman, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that passing the 1200m he restrained FIERCE ROYALTY and shifted in to obtain a position behind GOOD KARMA when not clear of DEIFIC (M Castle) which was taken in across the rightful running MINGARDOS (S Collett) which made heavy contact with the running rail causing both riders to check their mounts and lose their rightful running. The licence of C Collis to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days to commence midnight 8th September up to and including midnight 23rd September 2024.
 
QUEEN OF DARK - Held up for clear running between the 550m until leaving the 400m.
 
 
Race 4: CLOPF ARENA SURFACES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP    1300 M
 
ARIZONA DREAMING – Lost the near fore plate in running. Near the 1200m had to be restrained and lost ground when racing in restricted room between THE PUNISHER and TIME TO TESTIFY, which after shifting in, was unable to relieve pressure after ZEPHYR ZOOM was taken in by FROSTY BEAR. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer M Harry was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
TIME TO TESTIFY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FROSTY BEAR – Near the 250m, when weakening, was obliged to steady when placed in restricted room between LUCKY SHAM and THE PUNISHER which was taken in by TIME TO TESTIFY. Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
 
REDFORD – Rider J Orman reported it was not his intention to ride in a forward position, however after beginning well and with limited speed shown by runners drawn to the inside, he permitted the gelding to stride forward and lead the event in the early stages.
 
HE'S ESSENTIAL – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RANGI TOA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ZEPHYRZ ZOOM – Checked near the 1200m. At a subsequent inquiry S Willis, rider of LUCKY SHAM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1200m she permitted her mount to shift in when not clear of FROSTY BEAR which was taken in resulting in ZEPHYR ZOOM being tightened for room between FROSTY BEAR and TIME TO TESTIFY. The licence of S Willis to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 7th September up to and including midnight 15th September 2024.
 
PRESS LIGHTLY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: SCRDA THANKS OUR VOLUNTEERS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
GROOMED – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
EXTREMAARTY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
I AM A MARVEL – Slow to begin.
 
OSTERBERG – Hampered rounding the home turn.
 
LOST HIS BEANS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MR POLAR – Shifted out rounding the home turn hampering OSTERBERG. Apprentice B Moffatt was advised to make greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting out in similar circumstances.
 
CURRY LEGEND – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed abrasions to the near side hock. Trainer D Hansen advised it would now be his intention to spell CURRY LEGEND.
 
 
Race 6: DRESSAGE QLD FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
ADALIE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGIC ISLAND – Crowded at the start and had to be steadied. Approaching the 300m checked after being disappointed for a run between DEAR PRUDENCE and MISS MAGNIFICO which shifted out marginally before being corrected. Rider J Guthmann-Chester dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
CITY CHICK – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PLATINUM LIES – Rider D McGillivray reported after obtaining the lead the mare over-raced in the middle stages and in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the finishing effort of PLATINUM LIES. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ALLUMEUR – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 300m raced ungenerously after being directed out in an attempt to secure clear running. Rider J Orman reported it was his intention to race in a more forward position however after beginning awkwardly settled further back in the field than anticipated.
 
ASHILLA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DEAR PRUDENCE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SOOBLOND –Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ASTIN LANE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room passing 700m, and when passing the 600m, hung out and had to be checked from the heels of THAT’S ALL GOOD.
 
 
Race 7: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 2200 M
 
AROUND THE BUOY – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Near the 450m clipped heels dislodging rider D Thornton. After taking initial evidence from riders J Guthmann-Chester (FARWEST) and apprentice A Graham (GIRRAMAY), in the presence of senior rider S Collett, Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the incident to a time and date to be fixed. Rider D Thornton was treated on course by QAS for an injury to his left shoulder before being transported to Sunshine Coast University hospital for further treatment. D Thornton will require medical clearances prior to riding again. A post-race veterinary examination of AROUND THE BOUY revealed no abnormality.
 
SUBAQUA – Held up for clear running from the 600m until near the 350m.
 
FARWEST – Slow to begin. Rider J Guthmann-Chester reported after obtaining the lead near the 250m, the gelding was inclined to race greenly and shift ground both inwards and outwards when weakening over the final 100m, adding that in his opinion the riderless AROUND THE BUOY had no adverse effect on the finishing effort of FARWEST.
 
FIT AND PROPER – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
DELORME – Held up from the 500m until near the 300m. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, co-trainer J Symons advised the mare was down in class and was suited by the distance of today’s race.
 
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running between the 400m and 250m.
 
GIRRAMAY – Began awkwardly.Over-raced in the early stages and as a result near the 1400m left a rearward trailing position and progressed forward to race in a three wide position outside the leaders near the 900m.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 8: MARTIN COLLINS FIBRETRACK CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes due to the delay as a result of the fall in previous race.
 
OCEAN ZAR – Jumped out at the start and bumped STRIKING PLAINS. Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied to the inside of TORQUE I TEE after leaving the 600m.
 
TORQUE I TEE – Slow to begin. Improved to the inside of RIVIERA BLUE passing the 600m and raced in restricted room for some distance as a result.
 
STRIKING PLAINS – Bumped at the start.
 
AL ASH LAD – Commenced to race keenly leaving the 900m and after being momentarily crowded for room by ANTONITO approaching the 700m,raced ungenerously when being restrained and lost ground.
 
HOUSTON ROCKET – Slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event. Approaching the 500m had to be steadied momentarily from the heels of OCEAN ZAR.
