WilliamsonStewards – G. Goold, S. Fletcher, J. Robinson, O. Legg, L. Dewitt Rowson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTFrom Gold Coast 31 August 2024Race 2 – Trainer R. Dart reported that I AM VOODOO had pulled up well since the disappointing performance, adding that he felt the warm weather on the day including the fast tempo of the race had a detrimental effect on the performance. R. Dart further added that he would continue with the current racing program for the gelding. Race 1: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M The start of this event was delayed after NANA POWER refused to load. NANA POWER was declared a late scratching at 12:37pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on NANA POWER to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:1st – ALPHA BRAVO – 1c win, 1c place2nd – DAZZLIGN DIAMOND – 2c place3rd – BRAZEN ACT – 2c place Trainer B. Mair was advised NANA POWER would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming. ALPHA BRAVO – After obtaining the lead passing the 100m, commenced to race greenly. Jockey M. Harley was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strikes in the home straight. PROMINENT LAD – Raced wide early. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 250m. COOLY ROCKS – Improved onto heels leaving the 50m and was unable to be fully tested to the finish. GREY POWER – Began awkwardly and was crowded between runners shortly after the start and had to be eased. Raced wide throughout. Lost off hind plate. KIRRA'S SISTER – Bumped and hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. LEICA GLOVE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. MELO MELO KAVA – Shifted out at the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Jones reported her mount had a tendency to lay out during the event. BRAZEN ACT – Shifted in at the start. APOLLO TEN – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Race 2: SHERRIN RENTALS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M Due to the significant delay from Race 1, the start of this event was also slightly delayed. BLUEPRINT – Began awkwardly and shifted in. CATALAN COMET – Leaving the 800m, forced wider when SOFALA shifted out to improve. Raced wide from that point onwards. CHEERFUL CAT – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced leaving the 200m when the weakening DANE ROAD shifted out. DANE ROAD – Raced wide throughout. GERVONTA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near hindleg. Trainer V. Venkaya was advised GERVONTA would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. PANTHER POWER – Bumped between runners after the start. JUNGLE LAW – Held up rounding the home turn. SOFALA – Laid in under pressure. VOCALS – Held up rounding the home turn. Near the 350m, obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of GERVONTA which shifted in. Race 3: KEVLACAT POWER BOATS AUSTRALIA CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1600M ALVERDUN – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. TWIGMAN (NZ) – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when O’MISS BEHAVING shifted in. Raced wide until the 1000m. TYNDRUM GOLD (GB) – Held up rounding the home turn and until the 300m. TELEPHONE BOOTH – Inconvenienced passing the 200m when ALVERDUN shifted in to secure clear running. Jockey J. Huxtable was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Jockey N. Beriman reported that it was not her intention to take up a forward position, however there was a lack of speed and when restrained in the early stages, her mount over raced until approaching the 900m. STEP ON FIRE – Held up from the 400m until leaving the 300m. Race 4: HIGGINS COATINGS CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1000 M EMPEROR – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. RELEASE THE BEANS – Slow into stride. RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – Bumped passing the 100m when MUSCHIALLI shifted out. MUSCHIALLI – Shifted out after passing the 100m and made contact with RELIABLE RUBY (NZ). When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in that the gelding was positioned in a more forward position today, Apprentice E. Lang stated that it had not been her intention to lead, however after she began well and other runners were slowly away at the start, she allowed her mount to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader. Stewards accepted her explanation. ZOUMETEOR – Fractious in the barriers and as a result, began awkwardly and lost ground. INVINOVICH – Slow to begin. Whilst being steadied to obtain cover, raced in restricted room near the 900m when DEEP BLAST shifted in and away from CLOVER’S PRINCE. DEEP BLAST – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, shifted in and away from CLOVER’S PRINCE (C. Graham) which shifted in. Jockey C. Graham was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to its near foreleg and off hindleg. Race 5: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST MAIDEN PLATE 1400M OUT OF ACES – After passing the 500m, improved onto the heels of RUM RUNNER (NZ) and shifted out as a result. LADY MATILDA – Laid in throughout and was unable to be tested when attempting to improve to the outside of SKEPTICAL after passing the 400m and continued to lay in for the remainder of the event. SHY REBEL – Raced wide early. YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Trainer D. Forster was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. RUM RUNNER (NZ) – Laid in during the middle stages. RAPID CHEVAL (NZ) – Shifted wider near the 600m to improve and was forced wider when rounding the home turn when OUT OF ACES shifted out. IKNOWICANFLY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Trainer P. Duff was advised IKNOWICANFLY would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG results and complete a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward. Race 6: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400M FREEMAN – Raced wide throughout. HOLY FLASH – Held up rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight. Inconvenienced near the 300m when I SAW THE LIGHT shifted out. MERCHANT FLYER – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. I SAW THE LIGHT – Rounding the home turn, laid in and away from FREEMAN. Near the 300m, became unbalanced and had to be steadied when tightened for room between FREEMAN and MERCHANT FLYER which shifted out to avoid the heels of PAPER COWBOY. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman reported his mount proved disappointing and could offer no explanation for today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lacerations to its off hindleg. RIVA D'AMOR – Held up for a short distance passing the 500m and again approaching the 300m. Steadied passing the 200m when disappointed for a run between POWER ACE and PAPER COWBOY which shifted in. Race 7: DOUBLE R GROUP BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1200M The start of this race was delayed when DEMON DARB dislodged its rider upon when leaving the saddling enclosure and then cantered a short distance before being recaptured. The gelding was examined by the veterinary official and cleared to start. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester was cleared by the club doctor to fulfil this engagement. The start was further delayed when NEW HAMPSHIRE got its front leg over the front of the barriers. The gelding was examined by the veterinary official and cleared to start. THE CULLINAN – Slow to begin. I AM ARTIE – Raced wide until the 600m. STRAPPARSI – Disappointed for a run approaching the 100m. BAUHINIA ROCK – Jockey J. Huxtable reported that in his opinion the gelding would benefit from the addition of a tongue tie. ELLIBABY – Began awkwardly. MIXED SPICE – Raced wide throughout. NEW HAMPSHIRE – Raced in restricted room after passing the 600m to the inside of the tiring BAUHINIA ROCK. Steadied passing the 250m when disappointed for a run to the outside of STRAPPARSI and DEMON DARB (J. Guthmann-Chester) which shifted in. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. MISS EMMA – Raced in restricted room after passing the 600m to the inside of the tiring BAUHINIA ROCK. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 8: CALOUNDRA RSL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1800 M SPIN DOCTOR – Jockey B. Thornton stated that he could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lost its near-fore plate. ROYAL RIFT (IRE) – Trainer T. Gollan advised a change of tactics and from the wide barrier and the gelding would be ridden further back. Began awkwardly. Ridden accordingly. ARTZINO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WARRANT – Over raced in the middle stages. BUFFETT – Over raced in the middle stages. Had to be restrained after passing the 1500m and raced with its head in the air for a short distance after being tightened for room by LASQUETI BOOM (T. Marshall) Jockey T. Marshall was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Jockey J. Orman reported that his mount over raced during the middle stages of the event and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on his finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. RING BEARER – Raced wide until the 1300m. TEESANDCEES APPLY – Over raced when the pace of the race slackened passing the 1300m. Jockey B. Thornton rider of SPIN DOCTOR was charged and pleaded guilty to careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that after passing the 1500m he directed his mount in whilst racing in a 3 wide position in order to shift in , in an attempt to secure a position two wide when not sufficiently clear of TEESANDCEES APPLY, which was racing two wide outside CRIMSON WARNING causing TEESANDCEES APPLY to be tightened for room, checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey B. Thornton’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, commencing midnight 8/9/2024 up to and including midnight 17/9/2024. MIGHTY JUDD – Laid in throughout LASQUETI BOOM – Over raced when the pace of the race slackened passing the 1300m. LINDA'S MAGIC – Slow to begin.
