QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB FRIDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – Good 4RAIL – +5m Entire CoursePENETROMETER – 6.24 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. WilliamsonStewards – P. Zimmermann, A. Schofield, J. Robinson (COS), W. Wain; L. De Witt – Rowson (Asst. Stew) GENERALSINGED (Race 1) was declared a late scratching after becoming fractious in the float enroute to the course. As Apprentice J. Williams and C. Bayliss was not riding for acceptable reasons, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: MARSH ADVANTAGE INSURANCE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M RUSHDOWN – Began awkwardly and shortly thereafter tightened for room between NUESTRA which shifted in and ROYAL GLADIATOR which shifted out. STARWARD – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice C. Collis stated that the gelding was unsuited being caught wide and in his opinion, performs best when able to find cover. AQUATIER – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and again from approaching the 100m onwards and went to the line without being tested. FASHION FLASH – Began awkwardly. Held up when rounding the home turn. After passing the 400m, was ridden forward in an attempt to improve to the inside of AQUATIER where there was insufficient room to do so and as a result, was checked at a point approaching the 300m. Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and remained held up for clear running until the 150m. Jockey T. Thornton was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that approaching the 300m, she attempted to improve into a run where there was insufficient room to do so. NUESTRA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. TREVATT COURT – Raced keenly between the 900m and 700m. ROYAL GLADIATOR – As Apprentice J. Williams was unable to fulfill his engagement due to transport difficulties, he was replaced by Jockey M. Rodd. Race 2: BOSS BUILDING MAINTENANCE MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M ROCK ON ANGEL was declared a late scratching at 6:08pm after refusing to proceed to the barriers and dislodging rider M. Rodd on multiple occasions. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised the mare would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. Trainer D. Vandyke advised it is his intention to send the mare for a spell. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on ROCK ON ANGEL to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:1st - ASHANKO – 15c win, 19c place. 2nd - DEEP TIARA – 18c place. 3rd - PEACEFUL PRINCE – 8c place. Trainer D. Vandyke was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for the late rider declaration of M. Rodd after mistakenly declaring R. Stewart as the rider of ROCK ON ANGEL. BEFORE THE THUNDER – Began awkwardly and shortly thereafter bumped with HALF MOON ROO. Held up for clear running when passing the 400m before being tightened for room and checked between DEEP TIARA, which shifted out and CHERRY POP, which shifted in. PEACEFUL PRINCE – Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 300m and again from the 200m until approaching the 50m when directed out and made contact with HALF MOON ROO causing both horses to become unbalanced. BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Buffeted between runners approaching the 500m. BUN IN THE OVEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event. DEEP TIARA – Held up for clear running after passing the 400m. HALF MOON ROO – Bumped at the start. Became unbalanced near the 50m when contacted with PEACEFUL PRINCE. SHE'LL GO BOOM – Contacted the inside barrier partition on jumping and was slow to begin. TORERA – Began awkwardly momentarily unbalancing its rider and lost ground. Race 3: HIGGINS COATINGS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 M HELL AND BACK – Near the 100m, improved onto the heels of the tiring MY NAME IS (NZ) and steadied. ARISPHERE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. PINK CASHMERE – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until passing the 300m. PACIFIC PIRATE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. SEEYOU LATER – Raced wide for the majority of the event. GALLERY MASTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Race 4: PASG PROJECTS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BM58 HANDICAP 1200 M HILL BILLY FLYER – Near the 850m shortly after obtaining cover, the pace of the race slackened, and HILL BILLY FLYER was restrained from heels and at that point commenced to hang out and continued to do so whilst racing on heels until leaving the 600m Apprentice C. Sutherland was able to shift out across the heels of BAMBALAM and improve outside the lead. Stewards interviewed Apprentice C. Sutherland and Trainer S. Hardy. Mr Hardy indicated the horse has had a tendency to hang out in previous starts and for this reason has worn a bubble cheeker. Mr Harvey added that in light of the horse’s tractability in tonight’s event, he gave an undertaking to Stewards that he would be reapplying the bubble cheeker to the horses advertised gear. In light of this statement of Mr Hardy, Stewards placed a warning on the gelding’s racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small abrasion to the near hind. CHARGED – Slow to begin. Raced wide. Improved onto heels from the 700m and had to be steadied. WHISKEY AND BEER – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m. BAMBALAM – Whilst weakening, was steadied near the 150m when racing between HILL BILLY FLYER and CRYPTIC PRISM, both of which shifted ground. LOVEZELADYS – Commenced to over race after passing the 1000m and continued to do so until approaching the 500m. HARLEY CHARLIE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 5: PROPERTY AUDIT SOLUTIONS FILLIES AND MARES BM58 HANDICAP 1200 M STARLEA – Shifted out to avoid the heels of MISS BACALL (NZ) near the 400m. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions. ALLUMEUR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised ALLUMEURwould be stood down from racing pursuant to AR 79(4) for 3 months and must trial or gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards prior to resuming. DIVINE GEM – Over raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions. ARAMINTA – Slow to begin. EVERLASTING STARS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Apprentice J. McMurray dropped his whip near the 300m. MISS BACALL (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages. Shifted out near the 400m. THAT'S ALL GOOD – Began awkwardly. LA COMETA (NZ) – As Jockey M. Rodd was injured, he was replaced by Jockey N. Beriman. Steadied and shifted wider near the 400m when STARLEA shifted out to avoid the heels of MISS BACALL (NZ) which shifted out. Race 6: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS CLASS 3 PLATE 1800 M FLYING ROTHE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding, Trainer V. Heading stated the gelding’s form has been good at Sunshine Coast in the past, having won 2 races from 8 starts prior to tonight’s event. He further added at the gelding’s two most recent starts, the horse suffered interference at its most recent start at Warwick. Trainer V. Heading was also of the view that the gear changes of pacifiers off and winkers and tongue tie on, had a positive effect on the horse’s performance tonight. ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Significantly slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 1200m, obliged to check before being forced wider when STAR CHANCE shifted out and raced wide from that point onwards. STAR CHANCE – As Jockey M. Rodd was injured, he was replaced by Jockey C. Graham. When the pace of the race slackened near the 1200m, checked from heels and shifted wider and raced wide until the 900m when it improved forward and settled outside the lead. Race 7: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS BM62 HANDICAP 1600 M MERCHANT FLYER – Bumped at the start with HOLY FLASH. HOLY FLASH – Slow to begin before being bumped by MERCHANT FLYER. KARAOKE AL – Jockey M. Hellyer reported his mount travelled well throughout however was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. FEARLESS THINKING (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with LEGER CHASE. Raced with its head in the air when being restrained passing the 1400m.. Jockey A. Jones reported her mount hung out throughout the event, particularly when placed under pressure in the home straight. LEGER CHASE – Bumped at the start. SILVER PEARL – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer L. Abbott was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for SILVER PEARL by the prescribed time. NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 300m. As Jockey M. Rodd was injured, he was replaced by Jockey N. Beriman. GRANDCOEUR – Began awkwardly.
