SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Following a report that jockey Jai Williams had been dislodged at the Aquis Gold Coast breeze-ups on Thursday 17th October, Stewards advised apprentice Williams he would require a medical clearance inclusive of a satisfactory CT scan and concussion protocol test prior to his next race, trial or trackwork commitment.
 
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights at today’s meeting:
Race 4: SHAJAEA - M Hellyer 55kg (+1kg)
 
Trainer G Allard was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare A Mallyon as the rider of BONJOUR RUPERT (Race 4) by the prescribed time.
 
STARLEA was declared a late scratching at 7:45am due to an elevated temperature. Trainer J Healy was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
After becoming fractious when being transported to the track and suffering minor lacerations to the offside cannon and near side upper cannon, BADDA BOOM BABY (Race 6) underwent a veterinarian examination and was declared a late scratching at 1.35pm on veterinary advice.
 
After being dislodged from USE YOUR ILLUSION shortly after the start in Race 3, was stood down by the club doctor and replacements made as per the Race Day Summary sheet. R Maloney was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride.

 
Race 1: ROTARY AUSTRALIA REPURPOSING EQUIPMENT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1000 M
 
MISHANI ROCK – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. Held approaching and rounding the home turn before shifting out and obtaining clear running passing the 300m.
 
CARRAVILLA – Began awkwardly.
 
MISHANI EGO – Jumped out at the start. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BLIND DESIRE – Slow to begin.  B Hull, representative of trainer B Laming, advised the stable will assess the filly in the coming days and make a determination on its current racing preparation.
 
 
Race 2: RAWCS QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE      1000 M
 
TARONG – Shifted out on jumping.
 
ANGEL'S TRUMPET – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 700m.
 
SECURE BELL – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the middle stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. 
 
 
 
Race 3: MARTIN JONKERS MOTORS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP        1400 M
 
USE YOUR ILLUSION – Blundered on jumping dislodging rider R Maloney. R Maloney was examined by club doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
ZOU BIG BOY – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ZOUCIA – Laid in under pressure near the 300m.
 
ROYAL GLADIATOR – After improving to the inside ZOU BIG BOY approaching the 300m, shifted in and crowded SAY STORMY which had to be steadied after improving into a narrow run.A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Trainer D Hansen was advised ROYAL GLADIATOR would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
FASHION FLASH – Raced wide for the majority of the event. T Thornton, rider of second placegetter FASHION FLASH, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) in that she failed to ride the filly out to the end of the race.
 
LA COMETA – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
COOLY ROCKS – Inconvenienced near the 700m when SHERAQUAY shifted in after being awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening RUSHDOWN. Checked from heels approaching the 500m. At a subsequent inquiry K Wilson-Taylor, rider of SHERAQUAY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 500m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of COOLY ROCKS which had to be checked from the heels of SHERAQUAY. The licence of K Wilson-Taylor was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 27th October up to and including midnight 7th November 2024. Near the 300m held up for clear running after improving onto the heels of SAY STORMY.
 
SHERAQUAY – Near the 700m became awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of the weakening RUSHDOWN, shifted in and inconvenienced COOLY ROCKS.Shifted out rounding the home turn and bumped METCALFE.
 
SAY STORMY – Near the 300m steadied after improving into a narrow run to the inside of ROYAL GALDIATOR. J Williams, rider of ROYAL GLADIATOR, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
Race 4: KIT EHOUSE CLASS 2 HANDICAP  1000 M
 
SHAKO – Bumped passing the 500m when ARISPHERE shifted out to improve.
 
GREAT BARRIER REEF – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 300m held up behind the weakening SHAJAEA. Near the 200m disappointed for a run between LIBERTY STEPS and OSTERBERG. Approaching the 100m taken out by LIBERTY STEPS which shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
 
LIBERTY STEPS – Laid in rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m before being corrected by its rider.
 
ARISPHERE – Jumped in at the start and bumped BONJOUR RUPERT. Shifted out passing the 500m and bumped SHAKO.
 
BONJOUR RUPERT – Bumped at the start.
 
SHAJAEA – Jumped out at the start.
 
 
Race 5: DARWALLA GROUP MAIDEN PLATE         1200 M
 
ABLE SEAMAN – Taken in near the 800m when HE GOES BOOM shifted in.
 
BE FRIENDLY – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHIEF IN CHARGE – Slow to begin. Leaving the 500m bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced when PRIDE OF VENUS (R Dolan) shifted out when attempting to improve. Approaching the 100m momentarily steadied from the heels of BE FRIENDLY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
CUBANS CROWN – Jumped in at the start. Rider CJ Graham reported the filly raced greenly at various stages of the event.
 
PRIDE OF VENUS – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Held up from the 500m until near the 300m.
 
HE GOES BOOM – Leaving the 100m steadied from the heels of BE FRIENDLY (J Williams) which shifted out under pressure. J Williams was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
BIT OF GRUNT – Checked from heels passing the 800m and lost ground.At a subsequent inquiry A Jones, rider of HE GOES BOOM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the 800m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ABLE SEAMAN which was taken in crowding BIT OF GRUNT which had to be checked when restrained from the heels of ABLE SEAMAN. The licence of A Jones was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 26th October up to and including midnight 4th November 2024. Near the 50m brushed and taken out by BE FRIENDLY which shifted out under pressure.
 
MISSILE AWAY – Slow to begin.
 
EIGHT CYLINDERS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 6: TERRY LUCAS REAL ESTATE AGENT CLASS 3 PLATE         1400 M
 
BETTER BE NORDY – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Franklin reported the gelding was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event and was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
KERKORIAN – Began awkwardly.
 
NIGHTSTICK – Slow to begin.
 
THE PUNISHER – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
WHAT A WEEKEND – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CAVAUP – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 300m.
 
PINKUS – Shifted out under pressure over final 100m.
 
WALSH BAY – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider T Fenlon reported in her opinion the filly would now benefit from a step up in distance.
 
GULF OF SIDRA – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 7: MOONSHINE HAIRDRESSERS BM58 HANDICAP         1600 M
 
APERITIVO – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running between the 350m and 200m.
 
PORT MOURANT – Rider K Wilson-Taylor could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ABOVE THE SKY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Jumped out at the start and bumped SCHOONA THE BETTER. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLYING ROTHE – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 800m.
 
SOKUDO – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
SET ABLAZE – Slow to begin.
 
ROCKED – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race in a leading position near the 1100m. Near the 200m bumped by LOVEZELADYS when that runner was taken out by FLIC EN FLAC which shifted out to improve.
 
SCHOONA THE BETTER – Bumped at the start.
 
VALENTINO TEASE – Held up rounding the home turn until a point near the 200m.
 
LOVEZELADYS – Near the 200m taken out and bumped with ROCKED when FLIC EN FLAC (J Huxtable) shifted out to improve. J Huxtable was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
Race 8: 20TH ANNUAL ROTARY RACE DAY BM58 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
CAPITAL CEE – On arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after working keenly in the preliminary and was cleared to start. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
CONTILDA'S LOVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
JUNGLE FEVER – Apprentice C Sutherland, rider of JUNGLE FEVER, had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 22nd October up to and including midnight 31st October 2024 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of his whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m (14 in totality).
 
WHISKEY AND BEER – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running between 300m and 150m.When asked to comment on tactics adopted rider T Thornton explained after being caught wide in the early stages she was reluctant to shift out approaching the home turn as WHISKEY AND BEER, was in her opinion, not travelling strongly enough to come wider on the track, adding the gelding is better ridden with cover. Ms Thornton added the gelding can have a tendency to lay in which would have made it difficult to come wider in the early stages of the home straight. After viewing the patrol footage Stewards advised T Thornton in their opinion she had erred in not coming to the outside of the heels of BARELLO at the entrance to home straight rather than her decision to shift back to the inside of that runner rounding the home turn.
 
BARELLO – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
WATERMELON – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
