Cormack +0.5kgTrainer L. Gough was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for the late rider declaration of SKORPIOS ISLE engaged in Race 3. Trainer D. Ward was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for the late rider declaration of KEY COMPONENT engaged in Race 3. As apprentice L. Sykes was injured Stewards permitted rider changes as per the race day summary. Race 1: TAB QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD BM65 HANDICAP 1400 M ITALIAN RIVIERA – Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m. CHAPARRAL CHASE – Slow to begin. Laid out approaching the 50m and had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at heels. PIERATA'S GEM – Slow to begin. Obliged to alter course leaving the 300m to secure clear running. LLEWELLYN BAY– Weakened in the home straight. Rider D. Smith reported that the filly may have gotten its tongue over the bit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Race 2: BOLD DESIGN KITCHENS MAIDEN PLATE 1600 M JUNGLE JET (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. Bumped by PAPAL WARS (NZ) leaving the 1200m and became unbalanced. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor, the rider of PAPAL WARS (NZ), was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Steadied from heels approaching the 900m when the pace of the race slackened. Shifted out approaching the 800m when racing keenly. KHANT QUIT (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide early. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Rider J. Stanley reported the gelding had a tendency to lay out in the home straight which resulted in him being unable to fully test his mount with his usual vigour. LIKA WRECKIN' BALL – Raced greenly in the home straight. LORD EDDY – Began awkwardly. Steadied approaching the 900m when the pace of the race slackened. PAPAL WARS (NZ) – Raced three wide in the early stages. Shifted in and bumped JUNGLE JET (NZ) leaving the 1200m. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported the gelding was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer S. Kendrick advised he would give consideration to send the gelding for a spell. PAUL EDWARD – Forced wider at the 800m. Race 3: THE BRANDING OFFICE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M MISHANI HITMAN – Shifted out abruptly at the start. MONFARETTO – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide throughout. ROCKY REWARD – Hampered at the start. Raced greenly throughout. Had difficultly securing clear running between the 200m and 100m. SKORPIOS ISLE - Raced three wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout. FULLY SUBSCRIBED – Began awkwardly. KEY COMPONENT – Slow to begin. MISS MERCY – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels at the 600m and again approaching the 500m. SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Shifted in at the start. Hampered shortly afterwards and lost ground. Steadied from heels at the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Disappointed for a run approaching the 300m and was obliged to shift out to secure clear running. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. HEY CHARDONNAY – Raced greenly in the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 300m. Severely checked from the heels of MISHANI HITMAN and blundered at the 200m. Jockey G. Cartwright, the rider of MISHANI HITMAN, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that approaching the 200m she failed to stop riding and straighten her mount MISHANI HITMAN when that the horse commenced to shift in under heavy riding, when not clear of the rightful running of HEY CHARDONNAY, causing that horse to clip the heels of MISHANI HITMAN and blunder badly. Jockey G. Cartwright’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 16 days to commence midnight 2/11/2024 and to conclude midnight 18/11/2024. Jockey Cartwright was advised of her appeal rights. Race 4: COTTON TREE MEATS BM62 HANDICAP 1000 M QUADE – Slow to begin and was bumped shortly afterwards. Shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post. MR ENCORE – Began awkwardly. Shifted out and away from PLATINUM LIES shortly after entering the home straight. THE FIXER – Awkwardly placed at the heels of MR ENCORE shortly after entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BONDED AFFAIR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. ASHANKO – Slow to begin and then bumped with QUADE shortly afterwards. Held up approaching the home turn. Laid in for the majority of the event. Laid in approaching the 200m and had to be steadied.. PLATINUM LIES – Began awkwardly.PRETTY LITTLE LASS – Held up approaching the home turn REVITUP CHARLIE – Raced three wide throughout. GALLERY MASTER – Had to be eased approaching the winning post when racing between QUADE and PRETTY LITTLE LASS which both shifted ground. Race 5: CUSTOMISED CAR FINANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1800 M LOYALTY COUNTS – Shifted out leaving the 300m whilst weakening. Rider J. Franklin reported the gelding was under pressure from the 600m and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. Trainer P. Duncan advised stewards that he will have veterinary tests performed on the gelding in the coming days and report the results to stewards. PARIS AFFAIR – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. LEGER CHASE – Raced wide until the 1400m. Lost ground when being restrained approaching the 1400m in an effort to obtain cover. SILVER PEARL – Stewards permitted the mare to raced bare foot behind. WANDA'S OUTLAW – Raced wide until the 1400m. Over-raced in the early stages. HEREDITARY (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 350m improved onto the heels of the weakening LOYALTY COUNTS, shifted in and bumped heavily with CASH ARTIST. CASH ARTIST – Bumped heavily approaching the 350m. THE LOVE OF MARY – Slow to begin. Race 6: BEN LIDDELL CONSTRUCTIONS 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400 M The start of this event was delayed when MUST BE THE MONEY became fractious once loaded into the barriers and reared over. The mare was subsequently removed and declared a late scratching on the advice of the veterinary official. ALL ABOUT LEWIS which was drawn to the outside of MUST BE THE MONEY was also examined by the veterinary official and declared a late scratching. Co-trainer C. Geran, the trainer of MUST BE THE MONEY, was advised the mare would require a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again. Trainer P. Burns, the trainer of ALL ABOUT LEWIS, was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race or trial again. Race 7: CELLAR MAINTENANCE AUSTRALIA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M The start of this event was delayed owing to the delay in the previous event. CHANGE THE DEEL – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn. NEW HAMPSHIRE – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn until the 250m. PRADO – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. CRUMPETS – Over-raced in the early stages. MISS BACALL (NZ) – Became awkward at heels approaching the home turn. CLAUDIUS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
