GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 1: B. Thornton +1kg
Race 2: A. Jones + 0.5kg
Race 5: D. Smith +0.5kg, S. Cormack + 1kg
 
As R. Maloney was ill, and B. Wheeler was indisposed, Stewards permitted rider changes as per the race day summary.
 
Trainer P. Wallace was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for TOKYO SINS, engaged in Race 4, by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer B. Lang was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider forAPERITIVO (NZ), engaged in Race 5, by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider forSNOW SHOW (NZ), engaged in Race 7, by the prescribed time.

 
Race 1: CALOUNDRA RSL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP  1600 M
 
ITALIAN RIVIERA – Slow to begin. Obliged to race in restricted room approaching from the 350m to the 200m. Rider J. McMurray dropped his offside rein approaching the 300m before regathering approaching the 200m.
 
PROPOSE – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
BANKSIA BEACH – Approaching the 1100m, after being crossed by HARLEY CHARLIE, shifted out and bumped BOLD BLAZE. Leaving the 200m rider B. Thornton had his whip knocked from his hand after it was struck by the whip of R. Stewart, rider of PROMINENT LAD.
 
FAMILY OF LEAGUE – Shifting out shortly after the start and bumped BOLD BLAZE. Over-raced in the early and middle stages when leading.
 
BOLD BLAZE – Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped and forced wider for a short distance leaving 1100m.
 
HARLEY CHARLIE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 2: TAB MAIDEN PLATE  1000 M
 
EXOEIGHT – Raced greenly throughout. Apprentice Z. Sprie was reprimanded pursuant to AR 211(1) for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight. In assessing penalty, Steward considered that this was apprentice Sprie’s first offence under this rule and also the finishing position of EXOEIGHT.
 
MERCIAN – Inconvenienced and carried wider in the home straight by STRIKE THE HEART.
 
MIDNIGHT MADNESS – Shifted in at the start.
 
TYSON'S FURY – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide throughout.
 
ICED CHOCOLATE – Began awkwardly.
 
MODISTE – Raced three wide for the majority.
 
MY SPIRIT – Slow to begin.
 
STRIKE THE HEART -Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: FLYING START SYNDICATIONS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE  1000 M
 
ABSINTHE CAT – Raced three wide throughout. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MONFARETTO – Slow to begin.
 
BREAK FREE – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
OOHLALOUVRE – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 300m.
 
SENORITA ZETA – Hung out rounding the home turn and raced greenly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Began awkwardly.
 
VIENNA WHO – Raced three wide with cover.
 
LEUCAENA – Raced three wide with cover.
 
RED FEATHER BOA – Began awkwardly resulting in rider C. Graham’s right knee contacting the barrier partition. Rider C. Graham was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements.
 
TAPATI – Awkwardly placed at heels in the early stages of the home straight. Had difficulty secure clear running until the 200m.
 
 
Race 4: BOSS BUILDING MAINTENANCE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP  1000 M
 
DIVINE OKAY – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CHAKRA BOY – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight resulting in its rider having to stop riding on a number of occasions.
 
GYPSY TRICKS (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
TOKYO SINS – Raced keenly at heels approaching the 500m before shifting out and bumping GYPSY TRICKS (NZ).
 
 
Race 5: STREETER INDUSTRIES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP  1800 M
 
The start of this event was delayed owing to the blinkers of HEREDITARY (NZ) requiring replacement on arrival at the barriers.
 
ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Slow to begin.
 
TIME TO TESTIFY – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
WANDA'S OUTLAW – Over raced in the early stages.
 
APERITIVO (NZ) – Rider J. Stanley reported the mare over-raced and, in his opinion, may not have backed up from Tuesday 5/11/2024. Jockey Stanley was also of the opinion that the mare didn’t run out a strong 1800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
GULF OF SAROS – Raced wide until the approaching the 1400m.
 
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
HEREDITARY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 1000m. Cast it’s near fore plate. Trainer T. Hurley advised stewards that in light of today’s performance he would be removing the blinkers from the gelding prior to its next start.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin.
 
GINASUE – Held up from the home turn until leaving the 200m.
 
Race 6: COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP  1200 M
 
IOANE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
OLE BAZZLE (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Obliged to shift in approaching the 200m to secure clear running.
 
BONNET ROUGE – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide throughout. Leaving the 200m, raced in restricted room momentarily when weakening.
 
PINK CASHMERE – Slow to begin.
 
CRYPTIC PRISM – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
HOW RUDE – Shifted in at the start. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
ARQUERA – Bumped at the start.
 
Race 7: PICKERING BOOKKEEPING & ACCOUNTING SERVICES MAIDEN HANDICAP  1400 M
 
The start of this event was delayed when PRIDE OF ICE refused to load. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:21pm by order of Stewards. Trainer B. Wakefield was advised that the gelding would require a further satisfactory barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on PRIDE OF ICE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – STATE A FACT 1c win, 2c place
2nd – SNOW SHOW (NZ) 2c place
3rd – RUMBLING AWAY 2c place
 
 
I AM ETOILE – Began awkwardly.
 
FLASH ONE HEY – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Leaving the 250m shifted in and away from READ LIGHTLY and became awkwardly placed at the heels of VICTOIRE D’AMOR.
 
AMADOR – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
READY LIGHTLY – Slow to begin.
 
SNOW SHOW (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MISSILE AWAY – Raced three wide throughout.
 
RUMBLING AWAY – Began awkwardly.
 
VICTOIRE D'AMOUR – Connections advised that the filly would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Settled in the lead.
 
KELLISA – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
 
Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP  1400 M
 
ZHUANG SHI – Had difficulty securing clear running 400m to 300m.
 
LAUNCH PAD – Over-raced in the early stages. Apprentice C. Sutherland dropped his whip leaving 300m.
 
ELECTED (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide throughout.
 
VENTUROUS – Approaching the 600m improved onto heels and shifted out. Held up from the 400m until leaving the 300m.
 
CHARLIE'S CASE – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SMOKIN' TOFF – Slow to begin. Bumped and forced wider leaving the 600m. Upon returning to scale, rider A. Thompson was dislodged when the mare shied away from other runners. Jockey Thompson was assessed by QAS officials which revealed bruising to his right foot. Rider A. Thompson was advised he would require a medical clearance.
 
BOLD HUSSAR – Slow to begin. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LAVONI – Over-raced in the early stages.
