QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB SUNDAY 8TH DECEMBER 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – Good 4RAIL – +7m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. WilliamsonStewards – P. Zimmermann, S. Fletcher, O. Legg, J. Robinson, H. Matthews Race 1: FEATHERBY FINANCIAL PLANNING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1800 M EXFOLIATE – Began awkwardly and bumped with SASSY TAP (NZ). MISSILE AWAY – Slow to begin. THUNDER SHANGHAI – Laid in at a point approaching the 500m, tightening the running of SASSY TAP (NZ). FINE AND RARE – Raced wide throughout. KHANT QUIT (NZ) – Raced wide until the 900m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. SASSY TAP (NZ) – Tightened for room approaching the 500m. Race 2: CALOUNDRA RSL SUB BRANCH CLASS 1 PLATE 1800 M BOW TIE AFFAIR – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Stewart stated that from a wide barrier he was obliged to pressure the horse in order to obtain a forward position and the gelding with the addition of blinkers for today’s event, over raced whilst racing greenly and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on the horses finishing position. Jockey R. Stewart significantly reduced the tempo approaching the 1200m, causing the trailing runners to be steadied from heels. Jockey R. Stewart was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(b) for overly steadying the pace of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild heat stress and was treated on course. Trainer D. Vandyke advised Stewards it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell. FORT DENISON – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 1200m when the pace of the race was slackened. HEREDITARY (NZ) – Slow to begin. LOVEZELADYS – Raced wide for the majority. RUDIMENTARY – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 1200m when the pace of the race was slackened. RUMBLING AWAY – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 1200m when the pace of the race was slackened. SECOND SUN – Over raced approaching the 1200m. ELLE MAGIC – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Lost whip near the 200m. At the same point lost the use of the near side rein causing ELLE MAGIC to shift in abruptly. Race 3: YOUNG VETERANS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2200 M The start of this event was delayed after HARLEY CHARLIE required farrier attention to both hind shoes. After the farrier was unable to replace the back shoes, Stewards permitted HARLEY CHARLIE to race without hind shoes. TIME TO TESTIFY – Over raced during the early and middle stages and was permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead near the 1200m. Jockey M. Rodd reported that in his opinion the horse over raced during the early stages which had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Hung out rounding the home turn. Jockey M. Cahill’s pled guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 10 times prior to the 100m, 14 times totality. Jockey M. Cahill’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days, commencing midnight 17/12/2024 up to and including midnight 23/12/2024. NEW WORLD TAPESTRY (USA) – When caught wide in the early stages, was permitted to stride forward and assume the lead passing the 1300m. STREET GLORY – Over raced during the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn. NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin. RADEGAST (NZ) – Shortly after the start, RADEGAST (NZ) lifted its head abruptly and struck Apprentice B. Wheeler in the face. B. Wheeler was examined by the doctor and cleared to fill his engagements. Raced wide from the 800m after shifting out to improve. BIG HITTER – Shifted wider near the 1200m and raced wide from that point onwards. Race 4: HOMEFRONT AUSTRALIA MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M BRIEF SPIRIT – Slow to begin. TORO STRIKE – After shifting in near the 400m, became awkward at the heels of CHATTERBOX which shifted out. FRENCH EMPIRE – Began awkwardly. Became awkward at the heels of TORO STRIKE which shifted out approaching the 350m. BOLERO – Slow to begin. MISS PALLADIUM – Raced greenly throughout. Jockey A. Jones reported that her mount was agitated prior to the event and in her opinion, this may have had a detrimental effect on the horses finishing position. HERECOMESANTORINI – Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running until leaving the 300m. PRIVATE SHOWTIME – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. CHEMIOSMOSIS – Trainer L. Gough expressed his concerns to Stewards regarding CHEMIOSMOSIS after the mare was in a distressed state, he had concerns with the way the horse travelled and with the warm racing conditions, he requested to scratch the horse which Stewards acceded and CHEMIOSMOSIS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:20pm. Race 5: VWF CLASS 3 PLATE 1600 M STAR CHANCE – Over raced during the early stages. DIVAKARA – When questioned regarding his riding between the 1200m and the 800m as to whether he should have placed pressure on the gelding in order to try hold the position outside REEL WILD (NZ), Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated that in the early stages, he did not feel that DIVAKARA was travelling comfortably and he felt DIVAKARA was best served being allowed to find its rhythm. He added that he believed the horse would have travelled more keenly with the addition of blinkers which he recommended to connections. He further added that shortly after passing the 900m, he commenced to place pressure on the horse and the gelding did take some time to quicken into the event. Trainer S. Kendrick stated that it was now their intention to add blinkers to the geldings approved gear. Stewards accepted the explanation. REEL WILD (NZ) – Slow to begin. Race 6: CLARK & CO REAL ESTATE OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M MISHANI SNIPER – Raced wide throughout. TECTONIC PLATE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. BRING ME KASH – Shifted out on jumping. Trainer D. Ward was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – Slow to begin and was hampered shortly after. OUTWEIGHED – Jockey A. Jones stated that first up from a spell the horse raced quite fresh in the early stages and in her opinion would derive benefit from today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have heat stress and was treated on course. FLAMING CONQUEST – Hung out rounding the home turn. LOST IN TRANSIT – Held up rounding the home turn. DIVINE OKAY – Shifted in on jumping. Race 7: YOUNG VETERANS SUNSHINE COAST BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1000 M DESERT KOBY – Raced wide throughout. PINK CASHMERE – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have mild heat stress and was treated on course. ARTIE PANTZ – Raced wide throughout. CLAIRVUE MOLLY – Began awkwardly. RAFALE JOLIE – Laid out whilst weakening in the home straight. Jockey S. Collett stated that her mount travelled comfortably throughout and after being first up from a spell, would derive benefit from today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have heat stress and was treated on course. STARLEA – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Healy was advised STARLEA, which took no competitive part in the event, would require an official trial prior to resuming racing. Race 8: CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1400 M PRIMARY WITNESS – Began awkwardly. OLE BAZZLE (NZ)– Had a tendency to lay out from the 600m and onwards. JULIETA – Slow to begin. KAMARIYA – Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m and had to shift out after having to be steadied from the heels of MIO SORRRENTO STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees ReprimandsRace 2 – Jockey R.
