QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB WEDNESDAY 1ST JANUARY 2025 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Heavy 9, after Race 1 Heavy 8, Soft 7 after Race 3 RAIL – 4mPENETROMETER – 7.13 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – G GooldStewards – J Adams, K Daly, R Hanson, J Robinson, H Matthews SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTFrom Beaudesert 28th December 2024 Race 1 Benchmark 58 Hdcp: Stewards today convened an inquiry into an incident near the 600m when WATERMELON fell, dislodging rider C Sutherland. Subsequently R Jamieson, rider of EL ASTEROID pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 131(a) in that near the 600m she permitted her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of WATERMELON which clipped the heels of EL ASTEROID and fell, dislodging rider C Sutherland. The licence of R Jamieson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 26 days to commence midnight 5th January 2025 until midnight 31st January 2025. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the QRIC careless riding template, R Jamieson’s record under the rule and also her guilty plea. From Eagle Farm 28th December Race 3 3y-o Hdcp: Stable representative Mr S Pollard advised MAZIS would now be sent for a spell and the colt would be gelded. GENERALTrainer K Goldman was fined $300 under LR 36(6) for failing to scratch INDUBITABLY from its dual engagement in Race 3 by the prescribed time. Race 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M BRING ME SAKI – Awkwardly placed at heels of EQUINE ART which was taken out by CAXTON LASS leaving the 400m. CRACKENTHORPE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 100m. DAUNTING INSTINCT – Hampered at the start after SHARALANDA shifted in. THE PUBLICAN – Slow to begin. CAXTON LASS – Held up rounding the home turn before being directed out around the heels of VESPER LYND, and then bumped with EQUINE ART for a number of strides. ENUFF PILLS – Rider M Du Plessis reported the mare, in his opinion, was not suited by the rain affected track conditions. EQUINE ART – Bumped heavily and became unbalanced leaving the 400m when CAXTON LAS (B Wheeler) shifted out to improve around the heels of VESPER LYND which also shifted ground. B Wheeler was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Momentarily became awkward at the heels of CAXTON LASS which shifted out under pressure near the 150. Rider L Dempsey reported the mare peaked on its run over the final 100 and, in his opinion, would be better suited to tracks firmer than that of today. VESPER LYND – Laid out rounding the home turn. GREYT PERFORMER – Slow to begin. SHARALANDA – After beginning awkwardly and shifted in. Over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8. Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000 M MR GALAZI – When asked to comment, rider G Cartwright could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. SECRET REVOLUTION – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly at the start. Raced keenly between the 600m and 400m. Laid out under pressure approaching the home turn and again when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider R Dolan reported the gelding was inclined to lay out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination no abnormality. ZOUPERB – After being slow to begin was then steadied away from the heels of SECRET REVOLUTION which shifted out abruptly. Inconvenienced approaching the 250m when SECRET REVOLUTION laid out under pressure. ZELGARIA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 250m. Race 3: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M TERRITORY ASH – Jumped out at the start. TORO STRIKE – Rider N Berriman lost her whip near the 50m when struck out of her hand accidently by the rider of TERRITORY ASH. THAT'S INTERESTING – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the gelding was readjusted. BETTER BE READY – Laid in approaching the 600m. PRO FORMA – Near the 500m became awkwardly placed at heels for a short distance. ATTENTIVE – Slow to begin. STEP ALONG – Near the 400m was crowded for room and had to be steadied. At a subsequent inquiry N Beriman, rider of TORO STRIKE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 400m she permitted her mount to shift out resulting in STEPALONG being crowded for room and had to be steadied. In determining penalty Stewards considered the degree of shift from TORO STRIKE, that BETTER BE READY which was racing tight to the outside of STEPALONG along with the evidence tendered by L Tarrant, rider of STEP ALONG, and accordingly N Beriman was issued with a severe reprimand. The track was upgraded to a Soft 7 following this event. Race 4: SUNSHINE COAST BUSINESS SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M XERRI – Raced three wide throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination no abnormality. STELLAR LADY – When asked to comment on the performance, rider B Thornton stated soon after placing the mare under full pressure near the 100m, STELLAR LADY put in an awkward stride and after becoming concerned with its action at this point, he elected to cease pressuring the mare for the remainder of the event.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer M Hoysted was advised STELLAR LADY would require a veterinary clearance and also must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Mr Hoysted advised Stewards he would be conducting further veterinary tests on STELLAR LADY in the coming days and report back if any findings should come to light. SUPER ZAMBONI – Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.Raced four wide throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer D Ward was advised SUPER ZAMBONI must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. GLASS OF ROSE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. MAKING HISTORY – Slow to begin. Race 5: HIGGINS COATINGS CLASS 1 PLATE 1600 M BLUEPRINT – Bumped at the start with LET’SGOHUGO. Laid in under pressure near the 100m before being corrected by its rider. EIGHT CYLINDERS – Checked near the 1400m. At a subsequent inquiry T Fenlon, rider of PRETTY RHO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in resulting in VORTEXIA being taken in and across the rightful running of EIGHT CYLINDERS which was severely crowded and had to be checked. The licence of T Fenlon to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 9th January up to and including 19th January 2025. Obliged to alter course near the 250m. MOISSANITE – Hampered when steadied from heels near the 1400m. Near the 150m improved onto the heels of the tiring VORTEXIA and was obliged to shift in. SCRIBBLE – Rider N Beriman reported the gelding was making a respiratory noise on pulling up. Trainer N McCall was advised SCRIBBLE would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of a satisfactory endoscopic report prior to racing again. LET'SGO HUGO – Bumped at the start with BLUEPRINT.Crowded for room and inconvenienced near the 1400m. Passing the 500m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MR O'REILLY – Reared as the start as effected and lost ground. AUTORA – Slow to begin. Near the 200m bumped and became unbalanced when VORTEXIA shifted in under pressure. VORTEXIA – Began awkwardly. Crowded for room and taken in PRETTY RHO near the 1400m. Race 6: KEVLACAT POWER BOATS AUSTRALIA CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 M Correct weight was delayed allowing M Du Plessis, rider of second placegetter WORTHY ESSGEE, to view the footage in the home straight before electing to take the matter no further. FAIRWAY CHOICE – Shifted out under pressure near the 150m before being corrected by its rider.Lost its near hind plate in running. PIVOTAL LAD – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure approaching the winning post. Raced three wide throughout the event. MOUNT ZION – Began awkwardly. Placed in restricted room approaching the winning post. UNDER THE PALAIS – Held up for clear running between the 600m until a point passing the 150m before shifting to the outside to obtain clear running. Approaching the winning post improved onto heels and had to be checked. INDUBITABLY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 700m. Leaving the 100m shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. NETTLES – Held up rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 200m and again near the 50m. CATTRALL – Momentarily held up for clear running near the 400m. Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M DISSELATION – Began awkwardly. STAR ACT – Restrained from heels approaching the 500m. BANDIT – Slow to begin. CASROCK – Laid in approaching the 500m. Bumped BY CREATIVITY MISS, which shifted out to improve, on a number of occasion rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. SCARLET PRINCE – Raced three wide wide for the majority of the event. MERCHANT LADY – Rider R Stewart reported he was disappointed with the finishing effort of the mare, adding that MERCHANT LADY was making a respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Stable representative Mr S Pollard gave an undertaking to report back any condition which may come to light in the coming days. CREATIVITY MISS – Proved difficult to load. Rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight bumped with CASROCK on a number of occasions.
