GENERAL
 
Due to a Racing Queensland Handicapping error in Race 4 - weights were amended and MISS TRUSTFUL which was an initial scratching was reinstated.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 4. M. Hellyer +0.5kg


Race 1: VALE LES GEEVES MAIDEN HANDICAP  1800 Metres
 
MISS REILLY – Over raced during the early stages.  Steadied from heels when racing in restricted room near the 600m. Jockey M. Cahill reported that the mare didn’t let down as expected and may appreciate a step up in distance. 
 
BOLERO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
JUSTANOTHER HUNGEE – Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice R. Thorburn reported that in his opinion, the filly did not run out the 1800m.
 
KHANT QUIT (NZ) – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
 
Race 2:  STANLEY RIVER THOROUGHBREDS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP  1800 Metres

ARIZONA DREAMING – Leaving the 300m bumped and became unbalanced when MEDICAL AUTOCRAT shifted out. Apprentice J. Franklin, rider of MEDICAL AUTOCRAT, was reminded of his obligations to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances. 
 
CONNECTICUT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR ORATOR – Slow to begin.
 
MEDICAL AUTOCRAT – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Leaving the 300m shifted out abruptly and bumped with ARIZONA DREAMING and became unbalanced. Continued to race greenly and shift ground over the concluding stages.
 
ACES UP (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
REEL WILD (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CASH ARTIST – Underwent a resaddle on arrival at the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
 
LOVEZELADYS – Raced wide throughout.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the middle stages.
 
 
Race 3: PERREN & PENNY PLUMBING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1000 Metres

HEAVY REIGN was declared a late scratching at 1.54pm when the filly refused to proceed to the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on HEAVY REIGN be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st JUST PRECIOUS 0c win, 0c place
2nd OOHLALOUVRE 4c place
3rd QUERIDA 5c place
 
Trainer B. Mair was advised that HEAVY REIGN will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
UPTURN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Approaching the 800m, whilst over racing, steadied from heels.
 
JUST PRECIOUS – Very slow to begin. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
NANTERRE – Near the 250m, bumped when OOHLALOUVRE shifted out to improve.
 
OOHLALOUVRE – Held up for clear running until the 300m. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
PETITE PIERA – Severely hampered on jumping and lost ground. Shortly after the start obliged to steady from the heels of UPTURN which shifted out. Raced keenly early. Steadied from the heels of JUST PRECIOUS which shifted out near the 350m. Apprentice McMurray, rider of JUST PRECIOUS, was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
 
Race 4: JACK BRUCE RACING QTIS THREE & FOUR-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1600 Metres

MR O'REILLY – Cast the near fore plate in running. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. McMurray stated that gelding did not let down as expected in the home straight and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MISS TRUSTFUL – Near the 900m, obliged to shift wider when JUST FLYING shifted wider to improve.
 
WAYFARER'S WAY – Near the 1250m, when the pace of the race slackened, J Byrne shifted wider and allowed his mount to stride forward to lead at the 1000m.
 
MAKING HISTORY – Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
RUBOS – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: BRJ ACCOUNTANTS & BUSINESS ADVISORS CLASS 5 HANDICAP  1200 Metres
 
I SEE YOU COMING – Approaching the finishing line, raced in restricted room when LION CLASS shifted out to improve. Apprentice R. Thorburn, rider of LION CLASS, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. 
 
JAYANTHI – Raced wide throughout.
 
AIR MARSHAL – Restrained from a wide barrier to take up a position near the rail. Bumped approaching the finishing line.
 
DWINDLING SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
LION CLASS – Raced keenly during the middle stages.
 
ISLAND MAGIC – Near the 50m, held up on the heels of LION CLASS which shifted out.
 
DEMON DELIVERA – Threw its head as the start was effected, began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 6: WILD HORSE TURF MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
 
KILNA (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the barriers and cleared to start. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BEFORE THE THUNDER – Trainer W. Bannerot was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Raced wide throughout.  
 
MALOTRU – Began awkwardly.
 
BOROGORU – Began awkwardly.
 
PUJITA – Slow to begin. Apprentice C. Collis reported that on pulling up the filly made an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
GAGNANTE ENCHERE – Over raced during the early stages. 
 
O'EXPLOSIVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. 
 
GRAPE EXPECTATIONS – Significantly slow to begin. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.  Near the 250m, was inconvenienced and steadied when CHILLAXING shifted in. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester, rider of CHILLAXING, was advised to exercise more care.
 
 
Race 7: TRAVIS SCHULTZ & PARTNERS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP  1400 Metres

SELOUS – Slow to begin.
 
LOOSE UNIT – Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $300 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
 
THE CLAIMANT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HILLCREST AVENUE (IRE) – Raced wide throughout.
 
RUSSIAN MYSTIC – Began awkwardly. Near the 1100m, commenced to over race for a short distance when the pace of the race slackened.
 
VALANTINO ROC (NZ) – Near the 1100m raced in restricted room when TOUCH OF GRACIE shifted in when awkwardly placed at the heels of SOCK’EMSID. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight and until leaving the 200m.
 
TOUCH OF GRACIE – Near the 1100m, shifted in when awkwardly placed at the heels of SOCK’EMSID. Raced wide throughout.
 
LADY NIKSTER – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M. Cahill reported that he travelled well throughout however failed to quicken from the 600m and was disappointing. 
 
BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Slow to begin.
 
READY AND LUCKY – Began awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. 
 
MIDNIGHT DRIFTER – Began awkwardly. Near the 1100m raced in restricted room when TOUCH OF GRACIE shifted in. Held up for clear running until leaving the 300m.
 
 
Race 8: MANSELL PREMIX BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1000 Metres

LITTLE VISTA – Bumped on jumping. Leaving the 600m was obliged to steady from the heels of CAXTON LASS which shifted in. Apprentice D. McGillivray, rider of CAXTON LASS, was advised to exercise more care.
 
SMART RECOGNITION – Jockey M. Hellyer reported that his mount was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ARTIE PANTZ – Knuckled on jumping.
 
CAXTON LASS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
READY TO BOOM – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
HOT TORQUE INVEGAS – Raced wide throughout.
 
BELEGATO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
