SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Sunshine Coast 1/9/24 Race 7

Stewards have concluded an inquiry into the reasons for Damien Thornton, the rider of AROUND THE BOUY, falling near the 450m in this event.

After taking evidence from all riders involved it was established that after passing the 600m SUBAQUA (M Hellyer) shifted out to a one-off position in order to follow FIT AND PROPER (S Collett) and in doing so placed both SAVILIO (K Wilson-Taylor) and AROUND THE BOUY in restricted room to the inside of GIRRAMAY (A Graham) for some distance. Due to racing in restricted room and being unable to improve into the event, a short distance later D Thornton (AROUND THE BOUY) elected to steady and shift his mount out across the heels of GIRRAMAY and in doing so clipped the heels of that running, blundered and this resulted in jockey D Thornton being dislodged.

In the circumstances stewards were satisfied that the actions of the riders involved were reasonable and no rider had ridden in a manner that could be concidered careless. Stewards therefore took no further action.
