SUPPLEMENTARY
Following his fall at Goondiwindi on the 22nd of February 2025, jockey P. Hamblin was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his engagement in race 4.
GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 8. D. Thornton +0.5kg
Race 1: ROSS MACLEAN FELLOWSHIP QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
STYLISH JOKER – Held up for clear running until approaching the 200m. When asked to comment on the improved performance, jockey J. Stanley reported to Stewards that in his opinion, at the geldings’ most recent start, it was not suited to the smaller course at Toowoomba and the early tempo set in today’s event allowed STYLISH JOKER to settle and was beneficial to the horses’ finishing effort. Trainer J. Gleeson agreed with the comments of jockey Stanley, adding that at the horses’ most recent start, STYLISH JOKER had some difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages. Stewards reviewed the last start video, confirmed Mr Gleeson’s comments and noted the explanation.
INSAIN LADY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced from the 1000m, steadied from heels and raced wide as a result continuing to over race until the 600m.
Race 2: SECURE ACCESS I.T MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
DUKE OF LANCASTER – Slow to begin. After leaving the 500m, improved into restricted room to the inside of BIG TECH and at a point approaching the 400m had to be checked as a result, was then held up for clear running until leaving the 100m.
BIG TECH – Improved onto heels near the 500m and when restrained shifted out inconveniencing ELROND.
ELROND – Inconvenienced and had to be steadied near the 500m when racing between LATE NIGHT TALKING and BIG TECH, which shifted out after improving onto heels. Following this incident was then held up for clear running until leaving the 300m.
SUNLIGHT MAJESTY – Near the 900m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
LATE NIGHT TALKING – Caught wide when passing the 1000m and was then ridden aggressively from the 800m until near the 700m in an attempt to cross the leaders, however was unable to do so and remained three wide for the remainder of the event. On pulling up, apprentice J. McMurray was harmlessly dislodged. Apprentice McMurray was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his engagements. A post race veterinary examination of LATE NIGHT TALKING revealed no abnormalities.
STAR OF THE NILE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey R. Dolan was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfill his engagements after he reported that STAR OF THE NILE threw its head back and struck his chest in the barriers.
KABUKICHO – Jockey C. Graham reported that her mount raced greenly and over raced when challenged for the lead between the 800m and 600m. Jockey Graham then added that in her opinion, this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing effort.
Race 3: VILI'S FAMILY BAKERY MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
CASTERLY ROCK – Forced wider near the 600m when BROOKLYN DAISY shifted out to improve.
KENSINGTON'S JEWEL (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that at no stage of this event did his mount travel comfortably. Forced wider near the 600m when BROOKLYN DAISY shifted out to improve.
MOONLIGHT KICKS – Approaching the 200m, shifted out and bumped with NO BRAKES.
NO BRAKES – Obliged to race in restricted room whilst held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m, bumped and became awkward when MOONLIGHT KICKS shifted out.
DESERT LEGEND – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 600m until the 400m.
CHARDY – Apprentice M. Philpot was harmlessly dislodged from her mount on arrival at the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
PRINCESS MONEYBAGS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Whilst weakening, laid in across the heels of BROOKLYN DAISY and had to be steadied, and continued to lay in from this point onwards. Apprentice J. McMurray reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and was inclined to lay in throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
GAGNANTE ENCHERE – Trainer S. Dwyer reported that following today’s performance he will be sending the filly for a short spell.
Race 4: WISHLIST BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
KRAKARIB – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced near the 200m when KAT CHINNA shifted out
DARE TO SHARE – Inconvenienced near the 250m when KAT CHINNA shifted out.
KAT CHINNA – Passing the 300m, jockey N. Beriman dropped the off side rein causing her mount to shift out, inconveniencing other runners. Jockey Beriman on two occasions attempted to regain the use of her offside rein however was unable to do so until near the 250m.
TSARINA SOPHIA – Began awkwardly.
BENGAL DIAMOND – Inconvenienced when attempting to improve near the 200m to the outside of KRAKARIB which shifted out. Stewards questioned apprentice E. Lang regarding the performance and her riding of the filly, Ms Lang advised Stewards that she had been instructed to take up a trailing position from the wide alley as the horse had raced well at its most recent start when ridden in this fashion. Apprentice Lang added that she was surprised how well the filly settled in the early stages, and as a result of this she was obliged to pressure her mount from the 750m to the 600m. She also added that in the home straight, her mount was somewhat reluctant to quicken between runners when there was a shift from the runner to her inside. Apprentice Lang indicated that it was her recommendation to connections to remove the filly’s earmuffs as she felt that the filly would travel more strongly during the event in future.
MR POLAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: AZURA BUILDING GROUP COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
RIVER RIBBLE – After passing the 300m, inconvenienced and became unbalanced when CRACKENTHORPE shifted out.
MR BUBBALUSKI – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that they will attempt to lead if circumstances permit. After beginning awkwardly and losing ground, settled at the rear of the field. After passing the 900m, was obliged to steady from the heels of IRON POWER. Forced wider after passing the 400m. Bumped and forced wider passing the 300m.
CRACKENTHORPE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Near the 300m, shifted out across the heels of AQUAHOLIC in an attempt to obtain clear running.
IRON POWER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Obliged to steady when tightened for room near the 900m when CRACKENTHORPE shifted in. Apprentice D. McGillivray, rider of CRACKENTHORPE, was advised to exercise more care. After passing the 300m, inconvenienced and became unbalanced when CRACKENTHORPE shifted out. Apprentice D. McGillivray, rider of CRACKENTHORPE, was advised to exercise more care.
AQUAHOLIC – Hung out from the 800m particularly when under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed poor recovery. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
Race 6: GT PRINT FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
The start of this race was delayed when the crossover noseband on BLIND DESIRE had to be refitted.
GLOWLIGHT – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until passing the 400m. Again, held up for clear running near the 300m after steading from the heels of the weakening ASHILLA. Near the 150m again had difficulty securing clear running until the 100m.
ASHILLA – After passing the 400m, commenced to weaken and lay in crowding the running of COOL MUSIC and as a result of this, ASHILLA became unbalanced.
CATTRALL – Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn, and again from the 300m until approaching the 100m.
BLIND DESIRE – Raced wide throughout.
CHEMIOSMOSIS – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m, obliged to race in restricted room and was steadied when SO BE INSPIRED shifted ground. Following this incident, over raced until leaving the 900m. Forced wider rounding the home turn when MISSILE ONE shifted out to improve.
COOL MUSIC – Jockey R. Dolan was stood down from his remaining engagements after a further examination by the club doctor following the incident reported in race 2. Jockey Dolan was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to riding again. R. Dolan was replaced by N. Beriman. Improved into restricted room after passing the 400m to the inside of ASHILLA which shifted in.
Race 7: PADDY WALSH PAINTING & SOLID PLASTERING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
MISHANI CROWN – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
MARAGICAL – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the filly bled from one nostril and cast the off fore plate in running. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that MARAGICAL must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.
BLANTONS RUN – Raced wide throughout.
SHERAQUAY – Raced wide throughout.
TAKE A BOW – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until near the 150m.
BLAKEMORE AVENUE – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that they will attempt to lead if circumstances permit. Settled midfield. Raced wide throughout.
Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
MY PINS (NZ) – Obliged to race in restricted room in the early stages of the home straight.
AMERICAN PRESIDENT – As jockey R. Dolan was stood down, he was replaced by Jockey J. Huxtable. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
I AM LETHAL – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages. Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 700m.
CENTRE BOUNCE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the home turn until approaching the 250m.
TAVIS TOWN (NZ) – Raced wide from the 900m.
FIGHTING IDOL – Declared a late scratching at 3.48pm on veterinary advice after sustaining a laceration to the off hind coronet band.
SOBUTE – Raced wide from the 700m.
IMARICHGIRL (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had difficulty securing clear running from the 250m until approaching the 100m.
