SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Eagle Farm Saturday 15/3/2025
 
Race 8 SENQ 693AM COZ & HEALS FOR BREAKFAST QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1600m.
Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that leaving the 1200m, he directed his mount AZAFRAN from a position on the rail to a one wide position when insufficiently clear of PRINCE LEVI (T. Marshall), causing rider T .Marshall to take action by restraining his mount to avoid the heels of AZAFRAN and lose its rightful running, and also causing HE’S A SAINT (J. Lloyd) to check from the heels of PRINCE LEVI. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight 17/3/2025 up to and including midnight 27/3/2025. Jockey T. Marshall was admonished by stewards for the standard of evidence he provided during the inquiry. Jockey T. Marshall was also reprimanded pursuant to LR 48 in that he failed to seek permission to leave the course.
 
 
Race 10 FUJITSU | AIRSTAGE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200m.
Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 1000m, he permitted his mount CHERRY ROSE to shift in when insufficiently clear of SUPER DUCK (S. Rutledge), forcing that runner inwards causing SUPER DUCK to lose ground, also resulting in SER JOH (J. Lloyd) and DEER TRAIL (R. Maloney) becoming crowded for room to the inside of SUPER DUCK, causing both SER JOH and DEER TRAIL to be steadied by their riders. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight 17/3/2025 up to and including midnight 27/3/2025. Stewards ordered the term of this suspension to be served concurrently with his suspension in Race 8 from the same day.
 
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 5 – D. Smith +1kg
Race 5 – K. Zechner +1kg
Race 7 – M. Rodd +0.5kg
 
As Jockey J. Huxtable was indisposed, he was subsequently replaced as per the Race Day Summary. Jockey J. Huxtable was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming.
 
As Jockey R. Maloney was overweight in Races 2 and 9, he was subsequently replaced as per the race day summary. R. Maloney was fined $500 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
As Jockey R. Downey was overweight in Race 1, he was subsequently replaced by Jockey P. Hamblin. Jockey R. Downey was fined $100 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.  

Race 1: KEVLACAT POWER BOATS AUSTRALIA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400 M

HAMILTON BROWN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ANNIE ONE READY – Passing the 1200m, steadied from the heels of VALLEY OF OWLS which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey T. Brooker rider of VALLEY OF OWLS was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.  
 
LA COMETA (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SHERAQUAY. Held up rounding the home turn and had difficultly securing clear running for the majority of the home straight.
 
BLIND DESIRE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion. Trainer B. Laming was advised BLIND DESIRE would be stood down from racing for 3 months pursuant to AR 79(4) and require a veterinary clearance and gallop or trial 1000m satisfactorily prior to resuming.
 
SHERAQUAY – Bumped heavily on jumping.  
 
AIN'T TELLIN – Slow to begin.
 
BOLD BLAZE – Over raced during the middle stages. Jockey G. Cartwright dropped her whip over the concluding stages.
 
VALLEY OF OWLS – Bumped after the start.

Race 2: GRAMBOWER CONCRETE CONSTRUCTIONS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

ANACARDIUM – Bumped after the start.
 
COLINTON – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages after JIMMYINTHEJUNGLE shifted out.
 
ENCOURAGED – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
JIMMYINTHEJUNGLE – Shifted out over the concluding stages, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have heat stress.
 
REEBAR – Raced wide throughout.
 
SPELLHOUND – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ANACARDIUM.
 
Race 3: OCEANVIEW HELICOPTERS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

The start of this race was delayed after NEVA BREEZE refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:57pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on NEVA BREEZE to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – DAZZLING DIAMOND 0c win, 0c place
2nd – A TOUCH FROM FAYT 2c place
3rd – SPRING BIRD 2c place
 
Trainer T. Bita was advised NEVA BREEZE would be required to complete two satisfactory jump outs prior to resuming.
 
DASHING HOPE – Hung out during the middle stages of the event.
 
ROXSET – Slow to begin.
 
SPRING BIRD – Began awkwardly.
 
DAZZLING DIAMOND – Raced wide throughout.
 
TINKERTINO – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: SUNCOAST CABS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 M

The start of this race was significantly delayed after EVASIVE NATURE reared and became cast in the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:38pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on EVASIVE NATURE to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – LADY LUCIFER, 0c win, 1c place
2nd – RIVA D’AMOR 3c place
3rd – CROWN GUINEA 3c place
 
Trainer G. Allard was advised EVASIVE NATURE would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming.
 
READY TO IGNITE – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Byrne advised Stewards that he was obliged to pressure the horse in order to hold his position throughout the event, indicating that the horse was also inclined to race greenly and hang out throughout. He further added that the horse did not finish the race off as anticipated.
 
ZARIPPA – Bumped after the start.
 
LADY LUCIFER – Raced wide throughout.
 
DIVINE GEM – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR DRUMMER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
RIVA D'AMOR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Apprentice D. McGillivray recommended to connections to explore the use of a bubble cheeker.
 
SIDLED – Over raced during the early stages.
 
ROARING SUCCESS – Had to be resaddled on arrival to the barriers. Trainer J. Bayliss was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners.
 
Race 5: CHAPS MENSWEAR BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1800 M
 
The start of this event was delayed due to the significant delay in Race 4.
 
HILLCREST AVENUE (IRE) – Over raced near the 1600m when the pace of the race slackened and as a result, shifted wider to avoid heels near the 1500m, causing FIREBOLT to be forced wider for a short distance and lose ground. Continued to over race and near the 1200m, shifted three wide and was permitted to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader near the 700m. Apprentice C. Sutherland recommended to connections to remove the blinkers from the geldings approved gear.
 
AUTUNNO – Slow to begin.
 
MIDNIGHT MADNESS – Rounding the home turn had to be steadied from the heels of FIREBOLT which shifted wider. Jockey M. Rodd pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 400m, he allowed his mount to shift out under pressure, causing MIDNIGHT MADNESS to be tightened for room when racing to the inside of ATLANTIC ROYAL, be restrained from the heels of FIREBOLT and lose ground. Jockey M. Rodd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight 22/3/2025 up to and including 31/3/2025.
 
FIREBOLT – Inconvenienced passing the 1500m when HILLCREST AVENUE (IRE) shifted wider to avoid heels.
 
ATLANTIC ROYAL – Over raced during the early and middle stages of the event.
 
DANCE BABE – Became unbalanced near the 300m when laying in onto the heels of KASEAR.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: TYZAC VACUUM EXCAVATION BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1600 M

GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Slow to begin.
 
MY PINS (NZ) – Bumped after the start.
 
VIVENZO – Slow to begin.
 
MOOLOOLABA (NZ) – Jockey B. Thornton reported his mount compounded quickly from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Holt was advised MOOLOOLABA (NZ) would be required to officially trial prior to resuming.
 
TAKE A PICTURE – Jockey C. Graham reported that due to the fast pace set, she was further back than she anticipated and was forced wider when improving from the 700m and as a result, made the home turn quite wide. She stated that these factors had a detrimental effect on the horses’ finishing efforts, however advised connections that in her opinion the gelding had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer P. Cox advised that it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild heat stress and was treated on course.
 
HOOKS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped MY PINS (NZ).
 
Following the running of this race, Jockey B. Thornton was stood down by the club doctor due to being ill. B. Thornton was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming.
 
Race 7: HEIGHT 4 HIRE BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2400 M

YOUTH SPIRIT (IRE) – After passing the winning post on the first occasion, obliged to be restrained from the heels of TAPPY’S LAD (NZ) when that gelding was restrained to obtain cover. Apprentice C. Vitler reported that his mount was under pressure prior to the 800m and after pulling up he was concerned with the horse’s action in its hind quarters. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
EL JASOR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have heat stress.
 
CONVENER (FR) – Jockey R. Maloney reported that the gelding was first up without blinkers today and travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure near the 600m, the gelding was one-paced and proved disappointing.
 
Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M

STAR ACT – Forced wider near the 500m.
 
DEFERENTIAL – Checked from the heels of STAR ACT near the 700m.
 
UNDER THE PALAIS – Forced wider near the 500m.

SUMMER SOIREE – Began awkwardly.
 
BLOODHAWKE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Forced wider near the 500m when CHILLIWACK shifted out to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers’ representative for C. Waller, B. Killion was advised to report back to the Stewards in the days subsequent regarding the condition of the gelding.

Race 9: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1200 M

LION'S PRIDE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MALTALI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
CATTRALL – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
PROCYON MISS – Began awkwardly and bumped CATTRALL.
 
AQUAHOLIC – Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.
