QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SPRINGSURE JOCKEY CLUB – SATURDAY, 21 September 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Donohoe RACE 1: Sojitz Minerva Mining Benchmark 60 Handicap - 1000m SOLO MELODY – Rider reported that in her opinion SOLO MELODY did not handle the dirt surface and resented the kick back. RELNINO – Rider reported that her mount resented the kick back and as such elected to shift wider on the track on entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the straight. BIG BRITCHES – Jumped away awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had bled from one nostril. Trainer Ms C Rogers was advised that BIG BRITCHES would be required to gallop at least 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to accepting for a future start. Trainer Ms C Rogers advised BIG BRITCHES would be retired. RACE 2: The Capricornian Class B Handicap - 1000m PUMP ACTION – Rider reported that she was struck in the nose after PUMP ACTION reared in the barriers and as a result was unable to fully ride her mount out at any stage of the race. Jockey C Rogers was examined by the Queensland Ambulance Officers post-race and was stood down from fulfilling her remaining engagements. MISS SMINKER – Was declared a late scratching at 12.25pm due to no available rider. RACE 3: Springsure Rural/ Dooley’s Tavern & Motel QTIS Maiden Plate - 1100m As C Rogers was stood down following the running of Race 2, stewards permitted Ms B. Richardson to be substituted as the rider of HEATHER JOAN. HEATHER JOAN – Rider reported that her mount resented the kick back and racing behind runners in the early stages and as such elected to shift to the outside of the track on entering the home straight. LITTLE SID – Was held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 300m to inside the 100m. RACE 4: Glencore Rolleston Coal Benchmark 55 Handicap - 1400m REAL MACHINE – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. ISLAND BAR – Slow to begin. RENEWING HOPE – Was declared a late scratching at 2.33pm due to no available rider. RACE 5: Colin Meek Memorial Springsure Cup Open Handicap - 1400m HUNTER ISLAND (NZ) – Slow to begin.
