QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SPRINGSURE ST PATRICK’S DAY RACE CLUBSunday 18th June 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good RAIL – True OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – C Allison Stewards – S Larkins, G WustClerk of Scales – Stewards Judge – T Hoare, M Shields and T WhiteheadVeterinarian – Dr S BlissStarter – M Donohoe GENERALApprentice S Wilcock advised she had received an injury prior to the meeting and was replaced on her mounts as per the summary. Ms Wilcock was advised she requires a medical clearance prior to resuming riding. Race 1: KEVIN & BEVERLEY O’KEEFFE MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP 900 METRES STILL FEELING IT – Improved wide prior to the home straight. TUPELAWARA – Stewards permitted R Faehr to replace apprentice S Wilcock as there were no other suitable apprentice’s available. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. ONLY EMMA – Raced wide throughout. A Veterinary examination confirmed the mare bled from both nostrils (1st occasion) with trainer B Johnson being advised the provisions of AR79(4) in that ONLY EMMA is stood down for three months and must complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of the Stewards. Mr Johnson advised that the mare would likely to be retired from racing. CINDERELLA MAN – Hampered at the start and settled at the back of the field. Improved wide on the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer A Jones was advised CINDERELLA MAN was required to complete a satisfactory trial, and would require a veterinary clearance including an ECG. WICKED CHANCE – Raced wide throughout. Improved wide entering the home straight. Race 2: DOOLEY’S TAVERN & MOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 900 METRES PERGAMON – Raced wide throughout. HALARKE –Was a late scratching at the barriers after refusing to load. The connections were advised the mare was stood down for a satisfactory barrier trial. The following deductions applied, 17 cents for the win and 17 cents for the place. KISS THE LASS – Lay inwards during the running. MAYHEM GIRL –Trainer G Bell advised the mare would be retired from her stable after disappointing. SPIRITUAL BELIEF – Was a late scratching at the barriers after refusing to load. The connections were advised the mare was stood down for a satisfactory barrier trial. The following deductions applied, 21 cents for the win and 22 cents for the place COCO ROYAL – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. OUR WINTER GIRL – Raced wide throughout. Race 3: PUAL TAYLOR MEMORIAL/GLENCORE ROLLESTON COAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1100 METRES There was a delay in correct weight being declared until Stewards had viewed the official photo finish. Correct weight was then declared on the judges placings of 1st – 1, 2nd 7, 3rd 3 and 5 (deadheat) . FUTURE IDEA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout and improved wider on the bend entering the home straight. DIAMOND MONEY – A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities after the gelding disappointed. Trainer K Miller felt it may not have handled the prevailing track conditions. BOSS BANDIT – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race. EMPEROR OF LIGHT – Rider C McIver advised the gelding was on one rein throughout and failed to let down over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. JACK O’DIAMONDS – Raced wide and improved wider entering the home straight. SWEET WAY’S – Stumbled just after the start losing ground. LUNA GLIDE – raced wide throughout. Race 4: KALARI / SOJITZ BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400 METRES Prior to all the horses being loaded the starter accidentally activated the barriers while mounting the starters rostrum. COSMIC BULLET had not been loaded and several runners were disadvantaged and took no competitive part in the race. All riders were questioned post-race and all advised that they had not ridden competitively throughout the race with COSMIC BULLET, AURON and SKELLIG ISLAND either taking no part or being retired from the event. When questioned the starter Mr M Donohoe confirmed he accidently activated the barriers and had not notified an official false start. After hearing from all riders the Stewards declared the race a no race pursuant to AR205. Race 5: KEVIN WOOLCOCK MEMORIAL BRACELET OPEN HANDICAP 1100 METRES FAB’S COWBOY – Raced wide throughout the race. PARKO – Raced wide for the majority. TYCOON ZIP – Slow into stride and failed to muster early speed. SCHWEID AS – Trainer G Bell advised the gelding was going to be retired from her stable after disappointing in today’s event. ADMIRAL ASH – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Raced wide throughout.
