GENERAL
 
An enquiry was opened by stewards after a nasal gastric tube was located in the truck owned by trainer Craig Smith which was used to transport horses to the race meeting. The matter has been adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.
 
Race 1: SOJITZ MDS MINING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000m
 
Rowdash – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Shifted out approaching the 100m.
Apprentice S McCann pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 10 times prior to the 100m, 5 more than permitted, and had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence M/N 23/09/2023 until M/N 30/09/2023.
 
Taken By Theft – Fractious in barriers. Jumped awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Eil ‘N’ All – Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer S Rodgers was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
Miss Confidante – Raced wide throughout.
 
Bold Admiral – Began awkwardly.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2: DOOLEYS TAVERN AND MOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
 
Race was delayed due to ROGUE ENCOUNTER becoming fractious in the barriers prior to start.
 
 
Notquitelikejack – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Rogue Encounter – Significantly fractious in the barriers almost dislodging the rider on two occasions. Jumped awkwardly.  Trainer G Bell was advised that ROGUE ENCOUTER would need to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. Trainer G Bell has advised that the horse will likely be retired.
 
The Uprising – Raced wide throughout. Jockey C Rogers pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 10 times prior to the 100m, 5 more than permitted, and had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence M/N 16/09/2023 until M/N 23/09/2023.
 
Chilling Me Softly – Raced wide throughout.
 
Shadyvale Spirit – Attempted to buck for some distance shortly after start. Trainer W Baker was advised that the filly would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 3: ROLLESTON OPEN CUT OPEN HANDICAP 1100m
 
Ahwahneechee – Lost off side winker during running. Laid out under pressure down the home straight.
 
Attackabeel – Found to be lame on returning to mounting yard, a post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer C Taylor’s stable representative was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to next start or trial.
 
Coynes Road – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4: KALARI CLASS B HANDICAP 1400m
 
Smiko – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in over the concluding stages. Apprentice Jockey D Bennet was fined $400 after pleading guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted.
 
Bindango – Jockey dismounted soon after the finish line, BINDANGOwas examined by the on-course veterinarian, it was diagnosed that the gelding had a significant rupture of the near fore fetlock, resulting in the gelding being euthanized on humane grounds. Samples were collected from the gelding.
 
She’s Our Empress – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
Inhistime – Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: COLIN MEEK MEMORIAL SPRINGSURE CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m
 
 
Lauire – Approaching the 1100m was restrained off heals and shifted wider to obtain clear running. Shifted out under pressure down the home straight.
 
Muiron – Slow to begin.
 
Jarry Zanda – Performed below expectations, when questioned on the gelding’s performance Apprentice Jockey B Johnson advised the horse jumped well and travelled well until the home turn where she felt he resented the kickback and didn’t respond to her riding.
 
Tango Tino – Raced wide throughout.
 
The Dark – Jumped with field but soon tailed off and took no competitive part in running.
