GENERAL
 
As rider C. Bryen was indisposed from all of his riding engagements at the meeting today, riding replacements were made in Races 4 and 5 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
RACE 1: ST GEORGE & DIRRANBANDI COTTON GROWERS B’MARK 55 HANDICAP 1400M
 
POP’S SON – Began awkwardly.
 
TRUE JOY – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 2: ST GEORGE MACHINERY CENTRE & CASE 175 YEARS B’MARK 50 HANDICAP 1150M
 
Stewards declared CATZEL a late scratching at 12: 50pm  due to no available rider.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow App. N. Morton, rider of fourth placegetter CAN HE RAP, the opportunity to view the photo finish. After viewing to photo finish to satisfaction of stewards and App. N. Morton correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.
 
LYNYRD SKYNYRD - Rider C. Eaton reported at scale that the gelding hung out rounding the home turn.
 
CAN HE RAP – Tightened between runners at the start.
 
BELLA SONG – App. D. Graham reported that the mare hung out rounding the home turn and  had to be steadied momentarily from heels.
 
ATTRENTE – Rider S. Egan accidentally dropped his whip near the 50m.
 
TRUST NO ONE – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
 
RACE 3: MITRE 10/PRECISION AERIAL JOHN WALMSLEY MEMORIAL BRACELET QTIS MDN PLATE 1000M
 
Start of this race was delayed when ELEGANT MISS refused to load into the barriers. Subsequently the filly was declared a late scratching at 2:53. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on ELEGANT MISS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win #2
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
6 cents in the dollar for second place #3
7 cents in the dollar for third place #1
 
 
Trainer B. Fitzgerald was advised that warning would be placed on the filly’s record.
 
MI INSTINCT – Overraced for a majority and had to be steadied from heels on number of occasions.
 
STAR SPEED – Began awkwardly shifted out and heavily bumped another runner. Raced wide throughout.
 
TYPHOON TAHINIE – Bumped heavily and lost considerable ground at the start.
 
DIEHARD DIVA – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
RACE 4: CUBBIE FLYER B’MARK 70 HANDICAP 1000M
 
FLAVIAN – Knuckled at the start and  shortly after was tightened for room between runners.
 
TORERO – Near the 750m was tightened for room, had to check and lost ground. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BELLE EXPRESS – Began awkwardly.
 

RACE 5:QLD COTTON ST GEORGE CUP RACE TO ROMA QUALIFIER
OPEN HANDICAP 1600M
 
BARCELONA BOUND – Raced wide throughout.
 
FAST FELLA – Raced wide throughout
 
HIGH ESTEEM – Raced wide throughout.
 
LOUPY BEND - Bled both nostrils. Trainer M. Mawn was advised that the gelding would be ineligible to start for 3 months, and prior to resuming to racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.

Apprentice D. Graham was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance.
