PATRIARCH - Was a late scratching at 12.30pm after being injured in transit. Trainer Mr. J Jackson was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness is required prior to the horse starting again. Jockey T Brummell was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 800m he permitted ONE TUFF CUPCAKE to shift in when not sufficiently clear of HOW BIG’S THE HOLE (J. Lait), taking that runner in onto the running of HEAD DRAGON (K. Ballard) which in turn was taken in causing WISCONSIN (S. McGovern) which was following, to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Brummell’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight 8th July 2017 up to and including midnight 17th July 2017. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Brummell’s good record in relation to the rule and the degree of interference which was considered to be within the low range. Jockey Brummell was advised of his right to an Internal Review. A post-race veterinary examination of ONE TUFF CUPCAKE revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils in running and was also lame in the off fore leg. Trainer Mr. K Krogh was advised that under the provisions of AR53A, this being the 1st occasion, ONE TUFF CUPCAKE would not be permitted to start in a race for a period of 3 months and would be required to gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing. Mr Krogh was further advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be provided prior to such trial.
