GENERAL

Due to a communication error the Photo Finish Operator did not arrive prior to the commencement of Race 1. After liaising with the Club Stewards officiated the photo finish with the assistance of the Judges for Races 1-3 inclusive. The Operator arrived on course prior to Race 4 and officiated races 4 and 5. As a result of this error the start of all races were amended to the following times- Race 1- 1.15pm, Race 2- 1.55pm, Race 3- 2.35pm, Race 4- 3.30pm and Race 5- 4.20pm. Due to a malfunction of the video surveillance cameras Stewards were unable to review footage for Race 1. The matter was resolved after the running of Race 1.

Race 1: ST GEORGE MACHINERY CENTRE/ AGNVET/HAYES SPRAYING/TILCO AG SYSTEMS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

Due to a malfunction in recording equipment Stewards had no surveillance footage available to them on the day for Race 1. Observations were as follows-

SAVVY SONG- Appr Jky D Bennett on returning to scales advised that while in the barriers the horse in the outside barrier OUTBACK PLAYBOY had reared and had its off-side right leg over the barrier on his mount. He further advised the horse showed no ill affects as a result of the incident and ran on well. Stewards noted his comments.

FRIDAY’S JET- Entering the home turn raced extremely wide for the remainder of the event. The declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing Jky H Phillips an opportunity to view the surveillance film to ascertain if her mount gained a fair start. Stewards reasonably believed the horse had bumped the gates open as the start was affected and during the early stages of the race the start the crossover nose band had broken with the rider having little to no control of the horse resulting in the horse being uncompetitive in the run and therefore, declared it a runner. Stewards then declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge.

OUTBACK PLAYBOY- S APTHORPE- As a result of the incident at the start as reported by Appr Jky Bennett, Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr. P Rice. He advised the horse had pulled up well with no adverse issues and gave an undertaking to report to Stewards in coming days should the gelding become lame or injured as a result. Trainer Mr. P Rice then advised Stewards that his horse had lost a near side front shoe in transit. Stewards noted his comments.
