STEWARDS REPORT TOWER HILL PICNIC AMATEUR RACE CLUB INC FRIDAY 26th APRIL 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL - TruePENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R Neal (Chair); S Coulthard. Race 1: COLEMAN STOCKFEED MAIDEN PLATE 800 M BRENT STREET – very slow in the early stages. Race 2: TOPX RESTRICTED 800 M MISS SIENNA – lost ground in the early stages. HAYYLERS MOUNTAIN – slow to begin. Race 3: LOGAN CATTLE COMPANY RESTRICTED 1200 M HOSTILE LILY - was fractious prior to the start being made. Race 4: BERYL OPEN TROPHY RACE 800 M SAME OLD STORY – raced in restricted ground shortly after the start and lost ground. ZEBONET – rider accidently dropped his whip passing the 100 metres. Race 5: TOWER HILL BRACELET OPEN TROPHY RACE 1400 M GRATSIE – underwent a post-race veterinary examination with no abnormalities being detected. Race 6: TONY & JAN HETHERINGTON RESTRICTED 1000 M BOLD SPICE (Tom Delahunty) blundered passing the 600 metres when attempting to improve into a run to the inside of AMERICAN GENERAL. After reviewing the incident, it was established that BOLD SPICE had commenced to race keenly when attempting to improve into a narrow run and thereafter became awkwardly before catching a heel. Tom Delahunty was advised to exercise greater care when attempting to improve into runs which had not fully developed. Rider Mark Oates (DOUBLE OH SEVEN) was reminded of his obligations with respect to his use of the whip when riding out. Race 7: A E RICHARDSON OPEN 1000 M EXCEL WITH REWARD – was out of position as the start was affected and settled well back. Rider Aliyah Dickens was spoken to regarding her positioning in the pre-race formation, and advised that she must ensure she is in the best possible position prior to the start being called. Rider David Owen’s was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts fully to the line when circumstances permit.
