TARA RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT 5.10.02

STEWARDS PANEL: L Carvosso (Chairman), J Ross, C Reibelt

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – Sand RAIL – TRUE

RACE 1: PAUL HART/EASTERN RURAL MAIDEN H'CAP – 800m

CONVERSATION KATE was reluctant to go to the barriers, then refused to jump. Connections were advised the filly would be required to compete in an official barrier trial prior to next start.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of JUST ROBBERY, trainer K Dowling advised that the horse had done well after a spell and also added that racing at home track was probably a contributing factor today. Explanation was noted.

RACE 2: BMO ACCOUNTANTS COMMERCIAL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200m

HIVITE was very difficult to load and connections were advised a further barrier certificate would be required prior to next start.

STRATHCONAN was inclined to hang throughout.

RACE 3: PRIMAC ELDERS/ELDERS RURAL OPEN H'CAP – 1400m

POVERTY ROAD over raced in the middle stages.

FLYING FEATHERS raced erratically in the early and middle stages.

RACE 4: BRANDON AND ASSOCIATES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200m

Apprentice L McCoy reported that in her opinion, her mount BATTENBERGs’ barrier was slow to open. After viewing the film and taking evidence from the starter it was found that BATTENBERG had not been impeded and was declared a runner.

Leaving the 200m SLASHING LOOKS ducked out sharply.

RACE 5: TARA HOTEL/MOTEL CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200m

As J Baker was to be overweight M Richards replaced him on his mount, ROYAL MEATH.

At a subsequent enquiry J Baker was charged and found guilty under AR 120 (b). J Baker was suspended for a period of 6 meeting to commence midnight 5/10/02 and to conclude 12/10/02. In assessing penalty steward took into account jockey Bakers’ poor record under this rule.

Apprentice F Critch was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in shortly after the start hampering OUTRANK.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
