Plummer (Veterinarian) ¦ Club Representatives (Judge) ¦ I. Henderson (starter)General Stewards noted the explanation provided by trainer B. Hudson in relation to the scratching of all of his runners from today’s event. Subsequent to this Stewards scratched all runners at 12:35pm. Scratching’s as per stewards summary. Race 1:JEFF HANNAFORD PTY LTD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m SUPER SID – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner to the outside shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout. SECRET CONQUEST – Began awkwardly. BEL STRIDER – Raced green in the early and middle stages. FEELING READY – Restrained from heels and lost ground approaching the 800m when CHEESIE shifted in.Jockey M. Schrapel (the rider of CHEESIE) plead guilty to charge of careless riding under AR131(a) that he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of runners to his inside. Jockey Schrapel’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight days to commence midnight the 6th October 2019 and to finish midnight the 14th October 2019. Following the event appeared lame when returning to the mounting yard. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the near fore leg and it was the opinion of the veterinarian that the gelding would require a further more thorough examination at an off course facility. Stewards followed up with trainer P. Sexton and were advised the gelding had be euthanized. CHEESIE –Upon returning to scale, Jockey M. Schrapel reported that his mount was galloped on during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered lacerations to the hind legs. Trainer J. Hearne was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to race. Race 2: BRANDON & ASSOCIATED BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1000m The start time of this race was amended to 2:40pmTHIRD ROCK – Raced wide throughout the early and middle stages. Upon returning to scale jockey S. McGovern reported that in his opinion his mount resented the kick back from today’s event. Race 3: COMMERCIAL HOTEL / HENCOL CONSTRUCTION CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200m The start time of this race was amended to 3:20pm RATHER SALUBRIOUS – Began awkwardly. MUDCRAB – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages. Held up for clear running in the home straight. GOLDEN STREET – Over-raced for a short distance approaching the 800m. BOLD CROSSING – Slow into stride. BACKUP BILLY – Slow to begin. Race 4: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL/KEN DOWLING MEMORIAL COUNTRY CC QUAL/TARA CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m The start time of this race was amended to 4:00pmPALACE TYCOON – Slow to begin. HUSSON’S SHOUT – Upon returning to scale Jockey S. McGovern reported that his mount resented the kick back of today’s event.Race 5: TARA RURAL SUPPLIES / RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1400m That start of this race was amended to 4:45pmMAN OVERBOARD – Injured itself in transit to the races. A pre-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had received lacerations to the hind legs. Stewards, acting on veterinary advice, declared MAN OVERBOARD a late scratching at 3:30pm. Trainer G. Maroney was advised gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning.
