QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TARA RACE CLUB TARA – SATURDAY 1st October 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Firm 2 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – W GlassClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – E EvansVeterinarian – Dr J PostleSwab Attendants – Dr J PostleStarter – I Henderson Race 1: SAMUEL HANNAFORD MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1050m CELESTIAL LASS- As App E MacPherson was late arriving on course due to travel difficulties Stewards permitted Jockey R Payne to be substituted as rider of the mare when no other Apprentice rider was available. Bumped on jumping. DUTTON RANCH- Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly tightening SLEEPDANCE. SLEEPDANCE- Began very awkwardly and was tightened soon after jumping having to be eased. Raced wide for the majority. WELL BRANDED- Bumped on jumping. Laid in and away from another runner approaching the 800m. EMIRATE PRIDE- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in and momentarily crowded WELL BRANDED approaching the 800m. Jockey L McCoy was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority. MS MINNELLI- On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Trainer M Laine was advised that as this was the second such occurrence the mare would now be banned from racing in Australia under the provisions of AR79. A further post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any other significant abnormalities. Race 2: PRESIDENT’S QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1050m TIME FLIES BY- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly and shifted out. Crowded for room soon after the start and bumped. Trainer/Jockey Luke Miller advised that the mare would now likely be sent for an immediate spell. HE’S A DEVIL- Bumped on jumping. Shifted out approaching the 800m momentarily crowding BRING THE ROMANCE. App S Champkin was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in abruptly under pressure approaching the 100m before being corrected. SHOTGUN- Bumped on jumping. POLYGAL- Shifted out on jumping. BRING THE ROMANCE- Slow into stride. Shifted out and away form another runner crowding runners to its outside on jumping. Momentarily crowded approaching the 800m. HIMSELF- Crowded soon after the start. METAVERSE- Shifted in marginally soon after jumping and bumped. Laid in under pressure down the running becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 200m and having to be eased momentarily. Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS/TARA RURAL SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200m MOUNTBATTEN- Fractious in the barrier. OAKFIELD TARGET- Jockey B Moffat was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use his whip on 16 occasions, 2 more than permitted, throughout the event. VOULAIT- On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the first such occurrence, Trainers representative N Hemmings was advised that under the provisions of AR79 the gelding would incur a 3 month ban from racing and be subject to a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race. A post-race veterinary examination found the mare to have some abnormal lung noises. N Hemmings was further advised the results of an endoscopic examination would be required by Stewards prior to it again being permitted to start in a race. Following the running of the event App E MacPherson took ill and was transported to Tara Medical Centre for observations. App MacPherson was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride in a race. Race 4: COMMERCIAL HOTEL/HENCOL CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m ASTROPHYSICS- Stewards accepted the reasons tendered for the late declaration of rider. Jockey L Miller was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR132 in regard to use of the whip when out of contention. TAKEMEOUTTHEBACK- As App E MacPherson was indisposed due to taking ill, Stewards permitted Jockey T Banks to be substituted as rider of the gelding as no other apprentice was available. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have thrown both hind plates in running. MR STACK- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. SHE’S ABLAZING- Slow to begin. App L Barr was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR132 in regard to use of the whip when out of contention. PRITI PIPER- Momentarily held up on entering the home straight before shifting wider to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure from the 100m. Race 5: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL- KEN DOWLING MEMORIAL TARA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m ABB ROY- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. SALAZAR- Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer M Kropp was advise the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. GHETTO- Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the first such occurrence Trainer L Miller was advised under the provisions of AR79 the mare would incur a 3 month ban from racing and be subject to a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race. A further post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any other significant abnormalities. Race 6: BRANDON & ASSOCIATES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400m.CAMARILLO- Bumped on jumping. Shifted out soon after the start, despite the efforts of its rider, and hampered GRATSIE. Shifted in under pressure down the running. MUSK LOLLIE- Bumped on jumping and was slow into stride. GRATSIE- On exiting the mounting yard contacted a gate post, subsequently underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start and was obliged to ease. FOXY ROSE- Bumped approaching the 1300m. DELANEY’S GIRL- Bumped approaching the 1300m. Momentarily crowded leaving the 1300m.
