QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TARA RACE CLUB SATURDAY 5th OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER: FINE TRACK RATING- DIRT/ GOOD RAIL: TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T PrestonStewards Panel– F Hartford GENERAL After the running of Race 1, Jky W O’Connell reported he was unwell. After being examined by QAS staff, he was stood down on medical advice for the remainder of the program. Rider replacements as per the Stewards Summary. Jky O’Connell was advised a medical certificate would be required prior to his return to race riding. As a result Races 2,3 and 4 were later than the advertised time running at Race 2-1.50pm, Race 3- 2.30pm, Race 4-3.05pm respectively. Race 1: SAMUEL HANNAFORD MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1050M LEROY LION- Appr Jky M Goring was unable to claim any of his allocated allowance. No other suitable rider was available to ride the gelding, Stewards permitted Appr Jky Goring to keep the ride and would hold an inquiry late during the race meeting. Began awkwardly. BRONZE MEMORY- Slow to begin. Bumped at the start. SOME CAT- Began awkwardly and raced wide for the majority of the event. CUT DIAMONDS- Raced at the rear of the field for the majority and failed to be competitive in running. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. ICEY- Began awkwardly. Bumped with YES I’M UGLY shortly after the start. IMPRESSIONISTA- Began awkwardly. Shortly after entering the home turn raced on on the heels of HANK THE HUSLER. Jky H Philipps was reminded of her obligation to ensure she leaves sufficient distance when crossing or shifting ground. SHINES BRIGHT- Bumped with BRONZE MEMORY at the start. I’M THE UGLY- Slow to begin then bumped with another runner shortly after the start. HANK THE HUSLER- When leaving the mounting yard to perform a preliminary run, dislodged the rider and ran off for some distance prior to being caught by the attendants. A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. Stood flat footed at the start and was urged by the rider to begin. Raced extremely wide for the majority of the event. Race 2: RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS/TARA RURAL SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200m FITZROY BOY- Began awkwardly and bumped soon after the start was affected lost ground and momentum. Leaving the 100m after establishing a run to the inside of LUMINOUS WATERS was inconvenienced losing some ground. BASIL’S BOW- Was declared a late scratching at 12.08pm after being injured when offloaded from the float. The scratching had no effect on betting therefore, no deductions applied. Trainer T Dougall was later advised by Stewards that a Vet Certificate would be required prior to racing again. KYOGLE KID- Raced wide for the majority of the event. GIDGET- Bumped with ANNAKURI at the start. Over raced during the early stages of the event. MISHANI AMBITIOUS- Slow to begin then was able to make up ground. When approaching the 800m point the mare made heavy contact with the inside running rail resulting in her losing all momentum, became extremely balanced and almost dislodging the rider. It was at approximately that point it lost ground and raced at the rear of the field for the remainder. Post Race Vet examination was ordered by Stewards with the horse found to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer D Stanbridge stable representative was advised that a Vet certificate would be required prior to its next start. Stewards questioned Appr Jky C Lowe about the incident. She advised her mount became lost in the dust and resented the kickback. As a result, Stewards after consultation with the Club ordered that a water truck be used between races in an effort to ease the situation and improve visibility. LUMINOUS WATERS- Slow to begin and bumped with another runner at the start. Leaving the 100m rolled in marginally resulting in the rider of FITZROY BOY being inconvenienced. Stewards will inquire into the incident at a suitable time for all parties. ANNAKURI- Bumped with GIDGET shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. COTTON CAPER- Due to Jky W O’Connell becoming ill after the running of Race 1, he was replaced by Jky H Richardson. Jky O’Connell was advised that he would require a medical certificate prior to returning to race riding. Slow to begin. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Race 3: COMMERCIAL HOTEL/ HENCOL CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m THE SHAMAN- Bumped with another runner at the start. Raced wide. MERCHANT MOON- Slow to begin. LYNCHED- N Faz- Slow to begin and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority. Laid in in the home straight. Jky Fazackerley advised stewards on returning to scale the gelding was not suited by the racing conditions at today’s meeting. This in his opinion may account for his disappointing performance. ISLE OF BOOTY- Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. THE BELL JAR- Slow to begin. Raced at the rear of the field for some distance before improving into the race continued to race handy over the remainder. SUPER RUPERT- Bumped with another runner at the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL KEN DOWLING MEMORIAL TARA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m PICKO ROCKS- S Apthorpe- Slow to begin, not suited by the early speed and drift back towards the rear of the field. Began to improve into the race from the 400m and ran on strongly over the final stages of the event. HANOVER SQUARE- Raced wide for the majority of the event. BARCLAY’S BANK- Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(1) issued a reprimand to Appr Jky J Metcalfe for her use of the whip in a consecutive manner prior to the 100m. MISTER OMEGA- Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. RACE 5- BRANDON & ASSOCIATES RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1400M BEAN GROOVY- Appr Jky Goring was only able to claim 1 kg of his allowance. Stewards acting under the provision of AR143(14)(b) issued a fine of $300 to Appr Jky M Goring for his failing to claim his allocated allowance in Races 1 and 5. Appeared to be eased out of the event leaving the 100m point. Stewards later spoke with Trainer Mr. B Shepherd who advised the horse showed no signs of lameness and pulled up well post-race. Stewards will hold an inquiry into this incident at a suitable date for all parties.. DREAMSEEKER- Slow to begin. RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS- Slow to begin.
