QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DAWSON JOCKEY CLUB – SATURDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2018 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD(DIRT) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L. CarvossoStewards – A. Preston, T. WhiteBetting Steward – StewardsClerk of Scales – ClubJudge – ClubVeterinarian – Dr. I. CroftStarter – T. Campbell RACE 1: IGA TAROOM CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000M NEW YORK MISS – Slow to begin. Resented the kickback and was reluctant to stretch out and as a result finished well back in the field. Stewards advised trainer P. Sexton that a warning would be placed on the mare for its racing manners. FALVELINO – After being crossed by runner in the early stages the gelding resented the kick back and lost ground. Trainer C. Smith advised that the gelding acted in a similar manner at its last start at Birdsville and in future would attempt to restrict the horse’s races away from dirt surfaces. RACE 2: ANIPRO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP - 1000M BIG BRITCHES – As J. Rudd had not completed his after injury concussion test he was not permitted to ride at the meeting and as such was replaced by R. Williams. ELDIYM – Fractious in the mounting yard dislodging apprentice T. Doyle. Apprentice Doyle sustained a slight leg injury however was passed by QAS to fulfil his engagement. ISSY COMMAND – Rider reported that the gelding failed to handle the dirt racing surface. ORLEANS – Rider reported that the gelding resented the kick back. NOOR DROPPER – Raced wide throughout and made the home turn very wide. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. RACE 3: COUNTRYSIDE ELECTRICS PTY LTD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1200M HIGH CHANCE – Slow to begin. TEREX – Resented the kick back and was uncompetitive. Trainer V. Heading advised stewards that he would now consider the geldings racing future. EDENANNIE – Jockey J. King was fined $100 for use of whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. RACE 4: PHIPPS FAMILY TRUST BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 1400M FORT MEYER – Hung in, in the early stages and was eased from heels near the 800m. IBELIEVEICANFLY – Over raced, whilst leading in the middle stages PARANA – Jockey J. Missen reported that the gelding was not suited by the fast early pace and despite his urgings raced at the tail of the field before running on strongly over the concluding stages. RACE 5: LEICHHARDT HOTEL TAROOM CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1400M After weighing out apprentice S. Barlow (CRAWFISH) advised stewards that she had forgotten to weigh out with her safety vest. Based on this information Apprentice Barlow’s saddle was return to the scales area where she was re-weighed. Apprentice Barlow was fined $100 for negligence. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of apprentice Barlow’s inexperience, forthright conduct and proactively bringing the matter to the attention of the stewards. BURNING MOUNTAIN – Hung out throughout. I DO CARE – Disappointed for a run near the 100m and lost ground. CRAWFISH – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Eased from heels near the 900m. MOHAKA RIVER – Stewards questioned stable representative Mr J. Baker in relation to the improved performance from its most recent start at Surat. Mr Baker advised that the gelding began awkwardly at the start, lost ground and as a result settled in a reward position. He added that the gelding also had a tendency to hang in throughout the race and when making ground in the home straight was interfered with by another runner. He added that based on the horses work following the event the stable had expected a forward showing for today’s event. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees Race 3.
