Raced wide without cover throughout the early and middle stages. SWIFT RESPONSE – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Race 2: ARGUS BUILDERS / OWEN BRODIE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1000m ASK AUDREY – Tightened for room upon jumping and lost ground. Over raced for a short distance approaching the 800m. Raced wide without cover throughout. THIN DISGUISE – Shortly after weighing out Apprentice M. Kennedy advised Stewards that she had weighed out with more than one safety vest. Stewards subsequently called back the saddle and ordered Apprentice Kennedy to re-weigh. Apprentice Kennedy was fined $200 under AR.227 in that her negligent actions could have led to a breach of AR.185. Slow to begin, Slow into stride. ITS MY TIME – Laid in throughout. Race 3: DAWSON RIVER PROD / TOPX / LANDMARK / SAM BARLOW MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m As apprentice T. Townsend was dislodged after the winning post. As Apprentice was subsequently being assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and unable to weigh in, Seward’s declared correct weight under the provisions of AR. 208(3)(b) Apprentice Townsend upon examination by the Ambulance officials, was passed fit to complete the remainder of her engagements. SMARTY JACK – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. TIGGER IN THE WOOD – Began awkwardly. Race 4: TAROOM PHARMACY / BILL JOYNSON MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200m OUR DESERT ROSE – Stood flatfooted and lost ground. OURLASTPENNY – Jockey D. Rewald was fined $100 under AR.190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. No further racing incidents. Race 5: LEICHHARDT HOTEL TAROOM CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m No Racing Incidents Race 6: TAROOM WELDING WORX / DES JOHNSON MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP – 1400m Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of AKLAVIK. After taking initial evidence from Jockey N.Morton stewards adjourned to allow them an opportunity to take evidence Trainer G. Schrader as well as assess the relevant betting on today’s event.
