QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DAWSON JOCKEY RACE CLUB- TAROOM SATURDAY 23rd 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – F HartfordStewards – T Preston, D MacDonaldClerk of Scales – B WheelerJudge – J LethbridgeVeterinarian – Dr L Woods & Dr C DulceStarter – A Erbacher GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights at todays meeting: Race 3- G Steele +1kgRace 5- N Fazackerley + 1kg G Steele + ½ kg Race 1: IGA TAROOM CLASS B HANDICAP 1000M MR GORMAN Slow into stride. Approaching the 800m gelding was inclined to hang out for a short distance before being corrected by rider. MURPHY'S RIVER Raced wide majority of the race. OUR WINTER GIRL Raced wide throughout. Race 2- COUNTRYSIDE ELECTRICS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M ADELATION Laid out leaving the 200m on home turn before being straightened by its rider. DANECINO Jumped awkwardly bumping outside runner. A post-veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. FREE CHOICE Raced wide for the majority. Forced wider leaving the 200m. MARTY AWHA Raced wide early. Leaving the 200m gelding hung out despite the effects of the gelding rider and forced FREE CHOICE wider on the track. A warning was issued to the geldings racing manners as a result. PSYCHIC ROSE A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities. BLACK COUNTRY Bumped shorty after start. lead on rail. Hung out leaving the 700m. Race 3: TAROOM PHARMACY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200M LAURIE Proved difficult to load delaying the start. Stewards issued a warning against the gelding as a result. BONNIE EV Slow away LORD SMEDLEY Slow away LIP SIP SUK Slow into stride. Stewards inquired into the geldings below market performance. Trainer C Smith informed stewards that he believes the rise in class and the wide barrier effected the gelding performance. Mr Smith was not disappointed with the run. MY GIRL SKY Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4: PHIPPS FAMILY TRUST BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400M COSMIC BULLET Stood flat footed. Took no completive part in the race. Jockey C Mclver advised stewards that the gelding refused to respond to his urgings throughout the event. Stewards advised connections that the gelding is stood down from racing until a further barrier certificate is obtained. PRITI PIPER Began awkwardly. Leaving the 700m raced wide to avoid dirt kick back. Race 5: SANTOS LEICHHARDT HOTEL TAROOM CUP/COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1400M MENINDEE Raced wide for the majority. Hung out under pressure down the home straight. KAPPY CINO When racing in restricted room leaving the 1200m, blundered and causing Jockey Philips to lose her near-side iron placing her at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the event. THE GENERAL(NZ) Was in convinced leaving the 1200m when runner in front quicky gave ground, causing rider to take hold to gelding. LEGEND OF ZORRO leaving the 1200m started to promptly give ground.
