Race 1: IGA TAROOM BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000 M

BEST SIDE:Shortly after the start, the gelding took a few awkward strides and lost a considerable ground. Held up for clear running from the 200m. App M. Goring reported the gelding jumped well and shortly after, was reluctant to go forward and commenced to buck for few strides, before finding its stride. Trainer R. Frazer could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R. Frazer was advised a warning has been placed on BEST SIDE for racing manners.

ANNAKURI: A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

LONERGY: Slow away. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 100m, obliging Jockey B. Newport to momentary stop riding and straighten the gelding.

OUTBACK PLAYBOY: Slow away. Raced three-wide without cover for majority.

LAYLAH'S WISH: When the gates opened, the mare stood flat-footed, turned its head to nearside, losing considerable ground. LAYLAH’S WISH then took no competitive part throughout the event.A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. When questioned on the performance, trainer Miss M. Hill stated the mare was showing signs of a long preparation and will now be spelled. Trainer Miss M. Hill was advised LAYLAH’S WISH is required to complete a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards, prior to racing again.

Race 2: TAROOM PHARMACY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP-BILL COGILL MEMORIAL TROPHY 1000 M

Prior to correct weight, Stewards viewed the photo finish of first placing, where the Judge had declared GRAEWAZI as the winner of the race, BETTER RUSH being placed second & SUNIKI third. The review revealed that BETTER RUSH had clearly won the race, ahead of GRAEWAZI, which was second. Subsequently, Stewards amended the placings to read:

1st:  BETTER RUSH
2nd: GRAEWAZI
3rd: SUNIKI
Correct weight was declared on the amended placings. The matter will be raised with the Club and Racing Queensland.
