QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TEXAS RACE CLUB SATURDAY 10th DECEMBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – FIRM 2 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T PrestonStewards – D MacDonaldClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – D ThompsonVeterinarian – Dr E MaxwellStarter – D HodgsonPhoto finish Operator- J Moody SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Goondiwindi- 3rd December 2022-Race 2- POP’N’PICKLES- After reviewing patrol footage again Stewards were of the opinion that the barrier allocated was marginally slow to open which may have contributed to the horse being slow to begin. Stewards have referred the Barrier matter to both the Goondiwindi Race Club and Racing Queensland for remedying. Race 1- RAY BUNCH MACHINERY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 900m DABILDOYA- Bumped by another runner at the start then raced wide with no cover during the middle stages of the event. Rolled in marginally despite the efforts of the rider resulting in the rider of HILL BILLY FLYER having to take hold. HILL BILLY FLYER- Due to the extended period of time since the horse last raced a veterinary examination was undertaken. This examination revealed no abnormalities. Hung out during the middle stages of the event. Had to take hold when approaching the 400m when DABILDOYA rolled in momentarily. THE EDITORIAL- Began awkwardly and bumped DABILDOYA shortly after the start. DREAM OF GIARDINI- Bumped by another runner at the start. ATHENA ARMOUR-Slow to begin then failed to go the early speed and raced at the tail of the field during the early stages of the event. TILBET- Began awkwardly made contact with the inside barrier gate on jumping then bumped DREAM OF GIARDINI shortly after the start. CHAROSE- Due to no other rider being available Stewards allowed Jky S Sweedman to ride the Filly despite being overweight. Acting under AR190(3) Stewards fined S Sweedman the sum of $200 under for accepting a ride when overweight. Race 2- NH FEEDS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 900m ARTHUR IN CHARGE- P HAMBLIN- Began awkwardly then despite the efforts of the rider to improve raced at the tail of the field from the 800m until the point of the home turn, tended to lay out for a short distance over the final stages. It began to improve into the race after entering the Home Straight and finished off the race strongly. KATGULLY RED- APPR J GOLDEN LEICA SPECIAL- APPR A DONALD- Raced wide with no cover for the majority. SHEEZASINGA- K YOSHIDA FOX ON THE ROCKS- B NEWPORT- Blundered badly at the start then raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. STRIVE TO SUCEED- APPR E MACPHERSON Race 3- TOPX MAIDEN PLATE 1200M MAHIGRANT- Leaving the 300m when attempting to improve its position the rider had to ease off heels when ZARAGIGI began to weaken and came back unexpectedly. SHE WIZZ- Had to ease off the heels of ZARAGIGI approaching the 150m. ZARAGIGI- Laid in for a short distance from the 300m. Race 4- JEFF HANAFORD TEXAS CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200M COYNES ROAD- Slow to begin then raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. THE CARPENTER- Slow to begin and then raced at the rear of the field despite the best efforts of the rider to improve into the race. Race 5- WILSHIRE & CO. BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200M HEEBEE RIGHT MATE- S SWEEDMAN- Approaching the 300m point was inconvenienced and lost ground as a result of another runner baulking at a point on the inside running rail. PRIMMISCUOUS- Due to the time frame since the horse’s last start or trial Stewards ordered a pre-race veterinary inspection be undertaken. This examination revealed no abnormalities being detected. Approaching the 300m point in the race travelling one off the fence appeared to shy away from a point on the inside rail which resulting in HEEBEE RIGHT MATE being inconvenienced and losing ground. Stewards questioned Jockey B Newport and Jockey S Sweedman and Trainer Mr R Hilton’s Stable representative who was at a loss to explain the horse’s behaviour today as he is trained and worked at the track and never acted in that manner previously. Stewards noted the comments. BLOODBLISTER- Blundered badly at the start with the horse’s head making contact with the ground. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected.
