WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3

OFFICIALS

Chairman Stewards –Mr T Preston

Stewards- Mr D MacDonald

GENERAL

Stewards permitted Jky W O’Connell to ride Race 5- BORDEAUX HOPPER +.5KG

Race 1: RAY BUNCH MACHINERY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 900m

KOBE ASCOT- Leaving the 600m turn when following BOONAH FLASHER was inconvenienced as a result of an incident involving other runners, with the rider having to take hold, redirect her mount to the outside across the heels of BOONAH FLASHER losing ground at that point.

THE CRANOCH- Stewards declared THE CRANOCH a late scratching at 1.10pm due to it proving difficult to load and as a result the gelding ran off. The gelding then went through an outside a fence sustaining multiple lacerations to the right foreleg. Stewards spoke with Starter Mr. D Hodgeson and advised the attendants were inexperienced with the use of the blindfold and he gave instructions on what was required. Regrettably, the attendant could not hold the gelding. The horse was treated by the attending Veterinarian. After considering all the information available Stewards took no action against THE CRANOCH and later spoke with Trainer Mr. K Kirwan. He advised the horse was found to be lame in the near foreleg and would now be spelled. Stewards noted his comments. Due to the late scratching of THE CRANOCH Stewards ordered that all monies invested on the gelding before 1.10pm be refunded in full less the following deductions- Winner- GOOSE STEP- W-0c P- 8c, 2nd place LEUCAENA- 11c AND 3RD- SMALL DOSES- 11c. Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight to hear an objection lodged by Jky M Murphy

BOONAH FLASHER-Was inconvenienced leaving the 600m point when DREAMDROP while racing in a wide position was forced wider prior to entering the 500m turn. This resulted in the rider of the mare having to shift in and take hold. Laid out in the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by the rider.

KINOSHITA-Began awkwardly.

MASI KURA- Bumped with SMALL DOSES at the start. Forced to ease off heels of KINOSHITA when leaving the 600m turn, and then had to redirect his mount out when taking the turn awkwardly, ending extremely wide as a result.

DREAMDROP-Began awkwardly when making contact with the barrier gates as the start was affected. Just prior to entering the 600m turn when travelling wide, rolled out slightly before being dictated in marginally wider as a result of a shift in from another runner. This incident resulted in other runners being inconvenienced at that point. Laid in and bumped with SMALL DOSES in the home straight.

SMALL DOSES- Bumped with another runner after the start was affected. Prior to entering the turn leaving the 600m point, shifted in marginally and as a result dictated DREAMDROP marginally in. Bumped in the home straight when another runner laid in for a short distance before being corrected by the rider.

PRINCESS LUTETIA- Veered out shortly after the start.

The declaration of correct weight was further delayed allowing for the rider of the 4th placegetter DREAMDROP Jky M Murphy to view the patrol film available. After viewing the footage available Jky M Murphy lodged an objection to SMALL DOSES (Jky D Evans) being declared the 3rd place getter alleging interference when leaving the 600m point of the event had occurred when the rider of SMALL DOSES Jky D Evans shifted in which resulted in Jky Murphy’s mount being dictated in. He further alleged that he lost significant ground at that point. After viewing the film and hearing evidence from all parties including Trainers Mr. J King and Mr. K Sims Stewards considered several factors including the location, the amount of interference and the official margin being a nose. Stewards did acknowledge there was a marginal inward shift by SMALL DOSES at approximately the 500m-60m point leading into that turn. However, Stewards dismissed the objection as they reasonably believed the shift was insufficient for the placings to be reversed and subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges. Stewards will inquire into the incident when all parties are available as soon as practical.

VOULAIT- Jumped in the air at the start, raced wide for the majority of the event. Tended to lay in over the final stages of the event.

COLTMAN- As a result of racing at the Dalby meeting on the 2nd of December 2024, Stewards ordered a pre-race vet inspection be undertaken. The gelding was subsequently passed fit to race at today’s meeting.

MR EVANS – Began awkwardly when it jumped in the air at the start then it failed to go the early speed racing at the rear of the field for some distance. Began to improve into the race from the 400m and ran on well over the concluding stages.

I AM THOR- Bumped with another runner after the start.

Race 3: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL WARWICK MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

KANSAS SUN- Rolled out tightening TRUST IN GALE at a point near the 100m. Appr Jky S Pointon advised Stewards that the horse was weakening, and that she had trouble controlling her mount over the final stages. Stewards reminded Ms Pointon of her obligation to keep her mount straight and ensure she has sufficient room when shifting ground, given her limited riding experience stewards took no further action in relation to the incident.

NAVILLUS HELLFIRE- Failed to go the early speed and drifted back during the early stages of the event. Began to over race settling at approximately the 600m point. Began to improve into the race from the 400m and ran on strongly over the final stages of the event. Shifted out over the final stages to obtain a more forward position. Jky H Richardson was reminded of her obligation to ensure she allows sufficient room when shifting ground.

REJOICED -Approaching the 850m point raced erratically for some distance while being restrained and as a result lost ground. Bumped with another runner at the home turn.

ELUSIVE EAGLE-Laid out for some distance from the 800m before being corrected by the rider.

SHAMEDY- Slow to begin. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Failed to improve into the race despite the best efforts of the rider to do so. After entering the home turn bumped with REJOICED.

SELLING SUNSET-Slow to begin. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority. Began to improve into the race from the 400m point.

When racing in a forward position at approximately the 350m was inconvenienced when crossed by another runner at that point lost ground. Stewards acting under the provision of LR67(1) fined Trainer Mr. G Richardson the sum of $100 for his late declaration of a rider.

REACHOVER – Raced in a 3-x wide position for the majority of the event. Laid in while in the home straight. Bumped with another runner prior to the 100m point became unbalanced and lost ground.

IMPERIONESS- Slow to begin and raced at the rear of the field for some distance before improving into the event from the 300m point. Ran on well while racing wide over the final stages of the event.

BLACK COUNTRY- Slow to begin. Due to the seemingly disappointing of the horse between the 400m- 300m point where it lost substantial ground from a handy position to a rearward position, Stewards ordered a post-race vet examination of the gelding. This examination revealed it was afflicted with “speedy cuts” to the rear hind medial aspect at the hock. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr. J Judge, Jky S Apthorpe and Dr A Ashworth regarding the issue resulting in a number of runners being inconvenienced. It was the opinion of the attending veterinarian the cuts would have contributed to the horse’s poor performance from the 400m. Trainer Mr. Judge was advised that a Vet clearance would be required prior to the gelding’s next start.

RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS- Began well and took a more forward position while racing wide for the majority of the event. Ran on well over the final stages.

ASGOODASYOUGETT-Slow to begin.

BORDEAUX HOPPER- While racing in a three wide position leaving the 100m point shifted ground and bumped REACHOVER which was racing to the outside.
