STEWARDS REPORT - SATURDAY, 2ND DECEMBER, 2000

WEATHER: FINE TRACK: GOOD
RACING
RACE 1 MAIDEN HCP. 1200 METRES - (10 STARTERS):. Approaching the 350 metres A. Lane rider of WHISPERING LADY was obliged to alter course when held up for clear running.
Approaching the 200 metres BATTLE SYND (M. Lehmann) was slightly hampered by SOFT LIGHT (L. Timson) which shifted out.
Approaching the 150 metres BATTLE SYND (M. Lehmann) had to be steadied when crowded by SOFT LIGHT (L. Timson) which shifted out under pressure. Apprentice L. Timson rider of SOFT LIGHT was advised by stewards to exercise care.
Upon return to scale A. Williams rider of HAYLEE BEE, reported that he felt that during the run his mount felt sore. A subsequent veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 2 CLASS 6 HCP. 1400 METRES - (9 STARTERS):. SIR SOON (A. Williams) was slow to begin.
Over the concluding stages NAVARRA RAMBLER (A. Lane) shifted in under pressure slightly hampering IN THE GUN (S. Quick). A. Lane the rider of NAVARRA RAMBLER was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount.
RACE 3 OPEN HCP.1075 METRES - (10 STARTERS): MYFERNO (David Rewald) knuckled over at the start, resulting in that gelding being slow into stride.
Approaching the 150 metres ZAMPONI (A. Lane) had to be restrained when racing ungenerously. Shortly after this LOKIE’S COURAGE (C. Johnston) was hampered when crowded by TRUST CLIFF (D. Evans) which was inclined to shift in.
Apprentice D. Evans was advised by stewards to exercise care when placed in similar situations.
RACE 4 CLASS 4 HCP. 1075 METRES - (8 STARTERS): Upon return to scale M. Lehmann rider of MAKE A GUESS placed third requested to peruse the patrol film with the view of possible objection against the 1st and 2nd placings. After viewing the film M. Lehmann declined to lodge the objection. Correct weight was then declared on the placings as semaphored by the judge.
Approaching the 750 metres STORM HALO (M. Barnham) had to be steadied when that gelding raced up onto the heels of TWIRL (A. Lane).
TWIRL (A. Lane) compounded badly in the straight and pulled up shortly after the winning post. A. Lane stated to stewards that he felt that his mount commenced to get the wobbles. A veterinary inspection revealed that the gelding was distressed in its post race recovery. No other abnormalities were found.
RACE 5 CLASS 2 HCP.800 METRES – (8 STARTERS): Upon receiving a report from the veterinary surgeon, MIDNIGHT MISTRESS was declared at late scratching by order of stewards at 4.15pm. All monies invested on MOONLIGHT MISTRESS were ordered to be refunded with deduction of 9c win and 9c the place off the face value of all winning tickets.
BOOKMAKERS: Three bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and those obtained forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
