DevineGeneral:Due to the expiration of a stay of proceedings, Jockey D Evans was not permitted to ride and was replaced as per the Stewards Summary. Jockey J Stephens pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 175 (q) in that he misconducted himself towards Apprentice N Summers following Race 1 in close proximity to other licensees and the public. Jockey Stephens was fined $200.Race 1: Catholic Education BM 60 Handicap- 1075 metres Jockey S Sheargold was fined $100 under AR 85B in that he failed to fulfil his engagement on NINETTE KAN when he was dually engaged. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Apprentice Q Krogh and Trainer T Button viewed the photo finish image for first. After doing so, both were satisfied with the judge’s placing.Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey J Stephens (DE MESTRE) viewed the available patrol films and lodged an objection third against first (SON OF A WARRIOR). After consideration of relevant details, Stewards established that while racing in one off position SON A WARRIOR shifted in marginally from the 600 metres to the 400 metres, however DE MESTRE did not obtain a run to its inside or have to stop riding. Given the margin of 1 ½ length, Stewards could not be satisfied this incident altered the placings and correct weight was declared. SON OF A WARRIOR- Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Eased from heels near the 800 metres.MINTO’S LASS- Near the 900 metres, eased when another runner shifted in. Raced wide with cover. Regarding performance rider stated he was obliged to race further back in the field than expected when unable to take up a forward position in the early stages. Further stated the mare may not have appreciated the softer track conditions. DE MESTRE- Slow to begin.MADAM PINK- Near the 900 metres, eased when another runner shifted in. Raced wide without cover throughout.SCREAMING JET- Near the 900 metres, shifted in when not fully clear. Rider advised to exercise more care. OUR HUSSEY- Raced wide with cover throughout. Race 2: Howard Helicopters BM 45 Handicap - 1200 metres Explanations for the late rider declarations for DIVA MISS and SPEEDREADER were accepted. DRAGSTER- Jumped out onto another runner.PRETTY KOOL KAT- Contact with another runner at the start.DIVA MISS- Shortly after the start, shifted in and hampered runners to its insider. Rider advised to exercise more care in future. SOTTERO- Taken in shortly after the start onto insider runner. Raced wide without cover throughout.IF IN DOUBT- Taken in shortly after the start onto inside runner.RUN ‘EM RAGGED- Hampered shortly after the start and lost some ground. Raced wide without cover throughout.Jockey S McCullum was fined $300 for use of his whip on 3 more times than permitted by the rule prior to the 100 metres.Race 3: BM 45 Handicap- 1200 metres ASTRO NASCENTE- Jumped in onto another runner at the start. Trainer reported the gelding had been galloped on both hind legs. GAMBIT- Contact with another runner at the start.CHAIN THE GATE- Hampered and lost ground at the start. BARBOUGE- Jumped out and tightened runners to its outside.IDOL FACTOR and SCRATCHY- At the start, tightened between runners that had shifted ground.GOLD CLAIM- Near the 1000 metres, when being restrained, got its head up and lost some ground.IDOL FACTOR- Rider viewed the patrol film with the view to lodge an objection against the second placegetter. After doing so, did not proceed. Shifted out from heels of another runner near the 100 metres.EXSTRATUM- Shifted out marginally near the 100 metres and caused another runner to be shifted out. GOODNESS GRACIOUS- Stewards will follow up regarding the disappointing performance. Race 4: Fitzpatrick Constructions Open Handicap- 1400 metres Trainer M Goodwin was reprimanded for the late declaration of rider for BRADY ‘N’ ME. SEEN A HOST- Jumped in onto other runners at the start.GARDER LA FOI- Contact with another runner at the start.COME BY OFTEN- Contact with another runner at the start.BLAZE TO FORTUNE- Raced wide with cover throughout.WAR HORSE- Slow to begin and raced wide with cover throughout.NELAMONS and BASHAN both raced wide without cover throughout.HIDDEN NATURE- Jockey reported that the mare did not handle the soft track conditions. Race 5: Biloela Screens & Awnings Class B Handicap- 1600 metres When runners were being loaded for this race and all were not able to be loaded, all runners loaded were removed and move in one barrier position. This caused a delayed to the start.Prior to the start, Stewards attempted to ensure all runners were placed in the correct barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, it was ascertained that FLY ONCE MORE and HAY DEET had started from the incorrect barriers. Given that this had no material effect on the placings, Stewards declared correct weight. At a subsequent inquiry, given the circumstances, Jockeys C McIver and S McCullum were reprimanded for negligence. LILLIAN ELIZA- Jumped in onto inside runners. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.JAZZMAN- Taken in by another runner at the start.AMADEUS LAD- Taken in by another runner at the start.IRISH DARK- Taken in by another runner at the start. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed an injury to its near fore tendon or suspensory ligament. Veterinary treatment was administered. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required if the mare returned to racing. TICATIME- Hampered and lost ground at the start.HAY DEET- Raced wide with cover throughout.IMA GONSKI- Slow to begin.Race 6: Biloela Quality Meats Maiden Plate- 800 metres. I TRUST LAYLA- Slow to begin.HAYYLER’S CROSS- At the start, jumped in severely onto CHANGEINTHEVALLEY and when correct shifted out onto ADAYONDEK. Jockey C McIver pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge in that near the 700 metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of HAYYLER’S CROSS which caused it to clip heels and dislodged the rider. Jockey McIver’s licence to ride in races was suspended from 30 July 2016 up to 27 September, 2016 (4 calendar weeks). Apprentice Krogh was attended by medical officers however did not sustain any apparent injury in this incident. CHANGEINTHEVALLEY- Inconvenienced and shifted in when rider of another horse was dislodged.MITCHY’S INSTICT- Jumped out onto another runner.LINE AND LENGTH- Contact at the start.ZOOBERNS- Jumped out at the start.
