STEWARDS REPORT THANGOOL RACE CLUB– SATURDAY, 10th SEPTEMBER, 2016 WEATHER – FINE/ CLOUDY TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr L CollinsStewards: Mr. D MacklynClerk of Scales- StewardsJudge – B Moschioni, G BarnesVeterinarian – K AguisStarter- J Devine/L Wareham Race 1: Thinkwater Callide Valley QTIS Maiden Plate- 1075 metres SAURABH- Delay to correct weight when Stewards viewed the patrol film of the start and spoke to rider and trainer regarding the horse at the start. After doing so, it was established that the gelding had refused to jump with the field when the start was effected and accordingly was deemed to be a runner. Trainer was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. EIRE’S LEGACY- Contact with another runner at the start. LIGHTNING ARTIST- Contact with another runner at the start. MITCHY’S INSTINCT- Began awkwardly. DRAGONMOSS- Near the 900 metres, commenced to race ungenerously when crossed by another runner and near the 800 metres, when continued to race ungenerously, was placed in restricted room between runners and checked. Race 2: Commercial Hotel Biloela BM 55 Handicap- 1200 metres BEST HURRAH- When Jockey J Stephens reported ill and unable to ride, Apprentice Q Krogh was permitted to replace him. Jockey Stephens was advised that a medical certificate will be required prior to his next riding engagements. MRS ASIA- Dislodged rider on leaving enclosure. When captured, underwent a veterinary inspection and cleared to take its place in the field. SAM DE HERO- Slow into stride. BARON REES- Raced wide without cover throughout. LOGICAL OUTCOME- Raced wide with cover throughout. MCAPHE- When standing awkwardly as start was effected, began awkwardly.Following this race, Jockey A Coome was attended to by medical officers and, as he was not fit to fulfil remaining engagement, he was stood down. Jockey Coome was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to his next riding engagements. Race 3: Noel Howard Memorial Thangool Newmarket Open Handicap- 1200 metres HOTEL PARADISO- Slow to begin. OUTBACK LIGHTNING- Raced wide throughout. SON OF A WARRIOR- Slow to begin. Race 4: Nobbs Family Class B Handicap- 1400 metres COLOUR ME GREY- Slow into stride and bumped with another runner shortly after the start. OUR PROMISE CI- Raced wide for the majority of the race. Contacted at the start. GAMBIT- Jumped in onto another runner. CHANGEINTHEVALLEY- Checked near the 300 metres. Jockey J Missen pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 300 metres he allowed his mount GAMBIT to shift in when insufficient clear of OUR PROMISE CI which was taken in and caused CHANGEINTHEVALLEY to be checked. BENJI, which was following, had to be eased and shifted out from the heels of CHANGEINTHEVALLEY. Jockey Missen’s licence to ride in races was suspended from m/n 11 September, 2016 up to and including 21 September, 2016 (10 days). Stewards deemed this a mid-range offence, however were mindful of the rider’s guilty plea and good riding record. YAMANNERS- Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 5: Fitzpatrick Constructions Thangool Cup Open Handicap- 1600 metres COME BY OFTEN- Raced wide without cover throughout. MISHANI STEALTH- Raced wide until near the 1200 metres. GLACIER EXPRESS- Raced wide with cover the majority of the race. Race 6: Linemac Motors Biloela BM 60 Handicap- 800 metres SILENT GEE- Declared a late scratching at 7.57am. Stewards will inquire into this matter. TIME TO SPARE- Slow to begin. SONADOR ROSE- When Apprentice D. Evans was not licenced correctly; Jockey P Romeo was permitted to ride the mare. Fractious in the barrier, delayed the start. Began awkwardly and lost ground. DE MESTRE- Turned its head prior to start being effected and was slow to begin. BULLETIN BELLE- When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, rider stated the mare had begun well and applied some pressure early, however the horse raced somewhat ungenerously in the middle stages and he had not placed it under further pressure in the straight.
