Race 1: Owner and Trainers BM 55 Handicap- 1075 metres
PIPIT- Declared a late scratching at 10am when the mare got down in the float and trainer advised the horse would not be fit for racing.
DIPPED IN GOLD- Jumped awkwardly.
BLOODED- Began awkwardly and hampered by another runner at the start. Near 800 metres, taken out and eased from heels of another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
QUIET REFLECTION- Jumped in onto BLOODED, become unbalanced and lost ground.
POWER ON HARRY- Near 800 metres, hung out and took another runner outwards.
Race 2: Councillor Pat Brennan BM 65 Handicap- 1300 metres
SIMPLY SHOWTIME- Trainer advised that the gelding had got down in the float en route to the track. A pre-race veterinary inspection and further inspection on arrival at barriers cleared the horse to race.
BILO BAR- Jumped in onto another runner. Race wide throughout.
BLAZE TO FORTUNE- Hampered at the start and lost ground.
Race 3: Ken O’Dowd Class B Handicap- 1400 metres
Jockey S Sheargold was fined $100 for being dually engaged on ACCEPTING and AMADEUS LAD. App Z White was substituted as the rider of ACCEPTING.
RACEY CHICK- App J Brand claimed 1 1/2kg of her 2kg claim, fined $100.
AMADEUS LAD- Raced wide throughout.
ACCEPTING- Slow to begin.
BOOMTOWN BOY- Slow into stride.
HAY DEET- Slow to begin.
BYRON BABE- Leaving 800 metres, become unbalanced and awkward in its stride when racing to the inside of MONTE VICTORY and contacted the running rail.
ENDEAVOUR BAY- Regarding performance, rider stated the gelding had travelled well however when placed under pressure, had failed to respond. Jockey Coome stated he had been instructed to ride the horse behind the leaders, however he was of the opinion the horse raced better when leading. Trainer confirmed the horse would now be spelled and may decide to conduct a wind operation.
BAGGER TRICKS- A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next start.
Race 4: Jeff Seeney Maiden Plate- 800 metres
CYCLONE MARCIA- Declared a late scratching at 7.55am when advised the filly had an elevated temperate.
GUINIGI PRINCE- When A. Coome was to be overweight, S. McGovern was permitted to be the replacement rider. Jockey Coome was fined $100 (AR 120b). Jumped out onto SEQUOIA MISS. Jockey McGovern was admonished for his total use of the whip from the 250 metres to the winning post.
ROSIE’S SON- The gelding galloped a lap of the track when it worked strongly in its preliminary. On arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to race.
REDREKA- Began awkwardly.
SAYKRID LADY- Near 600 metres, shifted out and caused ONE WONT HURT YA to be eased.
Race 5: Nev Ferrier Mayor Banana Shire Council BM 50 Handicap- 800 metres
EXCEL WITH REWARD- Declared a late scratching at 10am when advised it had escaped while being loaded onto the float.
ROSE OR BUD- Slow to begin.
BITTEN- Reason for late declaration of rider was accepted. Contact with another runner which had jumped out at the start.
BULLETIN BELLE- Jumped out and made contact with another runner.
I AM MCLOVIN- Rider reported that she felt the horse had failed to muster speed in the early stages.
