STEWARDS REPORT THANGOOL RACE CLUB INC – SATURDAY, 3rd June 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (3)RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr L CollinsStewards –Mr D Macklyn & Mr M Heath (Cadet)Clerk of Scales – Mr M SimpsonJudge – ClubVeterinarian- Dr K ScottSwab attendants – Mr M NewmanStarter- Mr L Whareham General Jockey G Steele pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 118C (b) in that in Race 2 she weighed out in an approved safety vest which had been modified namely with a layer of foam removed. Taking into account her guilty plea and mitigating circumstances, she was fined $400. Race 1: Thangool Cup Sept 9 Benchmark 65 Handicap 1075 metres THIN DISGUISE – Began awkwardly and lost some ground. OUTBACK LIGHTNING – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. FRENCH FLAME – Shortly after the start, it was placed at the rear of the field and remained at the tail of the field throughout. Jockey D Evans stated that the horse had begun fairly, however, did not want to stretch out at any stage and may not have appreciated the firm track surface. Race 2: Owners and Trainers Maiden Plate 1200m LIFE BE IN IT – Contacted at the start when another runner jumped out. Eased from heels of another runner near the 1000 metres. CHANGING CURRENCY – Began awkwardly. PRESCRIPTION – Began awkwardly. LUCKY TICKET – Raced wide without cover throughout. CELESTIAL SON – Contact with another runner at the start. DOPPLER – Made contact with another runner at the start. In the early stages of the straight was inclined to lay in. RUN BABY RUN – Awkward on the heels of another runner. DUAN DUNROMIN – Awkward to the inside of another runner and had to be eased. Race 3: St Joeys Raceday July 22 QTIS BenchMark 50 Handicap 1200m Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey G Steele rider of CAMPANOLOGY (3rd) viewed the patrol films and after doing so lodged an objection against JEDDA’S GIRL (1st) for alleged interference near the 900m. After taking evidence from all relevant parties, Stewards determined while CAMPANOLOGY may have been tightened slightly, Stewards could not be satisfied any tightening had come from JEDDA’S GIRL or that any ground lost exceeded the margin between the runners at the finish. Accordingly, the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judge’s numbers. BOXER – Slow into stride. GREY PARIZ – Slow into stride. KURAMOS – Rider reported that the horse was inclined to hang out and that it may have been a result of the firm track. ISN’T HE A BEAUTY – Raced wide with no cover. Race 4: XXXX BenchMark 60 Handicap 1600m Jockey S Sheargold was fined $300 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his allotted weight. Stewards took on board the circumstances which led to the breach, his poor history in relation to this Rule and the placing and margin of DIAMOND RACER. Race 5: Members Class B Handicap 800m HARRY MET SANDY – Stewards declare a late scratching at 8:50am due to no available rider. PENNYCALAINE – The explanation regarding late declaration of rider was accepted by Stewards. BAGGER MUSCLES – Trainer S Sigvart made application to the Stewards to remove the blinkers. Stewards acceded to his request however; a $100 fine for failing to declare the gear by the prescribed time was imposed. DANYSUS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 400m had to be steadied when MISS DORA shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice E Smith was advised to exercise more care. ROSIE’S SON – Shortly after the start it lay in onto SIR TRUSTICE.
