HUNCHA DUNCHA – Slow into stride. Steadied from heels near the 600 metres. A warning was placed on gelding for being difficult to load.
BELLA SONG – Hampered momentarily when tightened shortly after the start. Stewards questioned App. N Seymour regarding the manner in which she rode the mare over the final 400 metres of the event and in particular the amount of vigour shown over the concluding stages. App. Seymour stated that the mare settled in a favourable position before entering the final turn and elected to improve between runners on straightening. App. Seymour added that whilst the mare continued to improve after being ridden hands and heels and applying the whip down the shoulder, she felt she didn’t have the confidence to apply more pressure to her mount as she was unfamiliar with the mare. Stewards also questioned stable represent Mrs M Johnson regarding App. Seymour’s ride and Mrs Johnson expressed satisfaction with the mare’s run but was of the view that more pressure could have been applied over the final stages. Stewards after considering the matter and considering App. Seymour’s limited riding experience, noted her explanation and also stressed the importance of riding her mounts to the line with sufficient vigour. Stewards also advised App. Seymour to seek assistance from senior riders to improve her whip action.
