QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT THANGOOL RACE CLUB – SATURDAY 26 JANUARY 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. BarronStewards –D. MacklynClerk of Scales – M. SimpsonJudge – ClubVeterinarian – D. K. ScottStarter – J. Devine & L. Wareham GENERAL As rider A. Butler was overweight stewards permitted rider replacements as per Stewards Race Day Summary. Rider A. Butler was fined $200. Race 1: DOTTY CHRISSY CLASS B H’CAP – 1075M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view patrol footage as there was a malfunction with the photo finish equipment during the running of the event. Stewards were satisfied with Judges’ semaphored numbers and declared correct weight. The photo finish operator advised that the equipment was retested prior to the running of Race 2 without concern. SALTY’S BOY – Began awkwardly. Hung out near the 900m forcing another runner wide onto the track. Trainer I. Seeds was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding. GOHAN – Laid in when under pressure in the home straight. NEW KINTARO – Began awkwardly. Race 2: KEN STANLEY BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1200M TIME OUT – Laid out rounding the home turn. HOT VINNI – Slow to begin. DARTS AWAY – When questioned in relation to the below market performance, Apprentice N. Seymour explained that the gelding was unable to muster speed throughout and could offer no other excuse. Trainer P. Pengelly could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than that the tack surface may have been to firm for the gelding. Race 3: STAN BALDWIN BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400M SCHINDLER – Post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer G. Richardson advised that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell nevertheless was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. THE DECKERAIDER – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout. THIS IS LIVIN’ – Held up passing the 400m until near the 200m, shifted out across SCAPA COVE’S heels to obtain clear running. PRINCE OF BARODA – Slow to begin. KASTANOS – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. LEGAL STATURE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice J. Morrow ( PRINCE OF BARODA) returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his allotted weight and was fined $200. Race 4: PHIL CASEY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE– 800M DIXIE LEE – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. SUJANI – Slow to begin. Checked from heels leaving the 100m and, as a result, lost ground. Apprentice H. English , the rider of TENOR LASS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that leaving the 100m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SUJANI resulting in that runner being checked and losing ground. Apprentice English’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 10 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 2 February 2019 and expire at midnight on Tuesday 12 February 2019. In determining penalty, Stewards considered this incident to be the middle range, and also took into consideration Apprentice English’s prior good record in relation to this rule. ZORRO FEMININO – Bumped at the start. Apprentice S. Tomlinson reported that the filly hung out throughout. BAGGER NEMO – Hung out rounding the home turn. Apprentice S. Tomlinson (ZORRO FEMININO) was fined $100 for failing to claim down to his allocated riding weight. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Tomlinson’s prior good record in relation to this rule and his recent return to race riding. Race 5: AMOS MOSCHIONI BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 800M NEED FINANCE – Slow to begin. Tightened for room between runners shortly after the start. ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY – Blundered at the start. LAST ROUND – Following the event Stewards identified that Apprentice J. Morrow only claimed 3 ½ kilograms of his 4 kilogram allowance. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered in relation to this incident. Further Apprentice Morrow returned to scale in excess of a half a kilogram and was fined $300.
