As Jockey B Richardson was not riding at today’s meeting due to injury, rider replacements were made as per the race day summary. Jockey Richardson was advised that she would require a medical clearance prior to race riding again.
 
Stewards inquired into the circumstances as to why App. L Dodds failed to attended apprentice school at Rockhampton on Monday 18th of February. After hearing submissions from App. L Dodds, Stewards were of the opinion that App. Dodds had breached AR175(p) and he was fined $500 with $400 suspended for a period of 12 months.
 
Race 1: Kath Ross Maiden Plate 1075m
 
UNIQUE FOXY – Trainer K Miller was reprimanded for the late declaration of App. T Townsend as rider. Raced wide without cover throughout. Ran about in the home straight.
 
BLONDE BEAUTY – Failed to muster any early speed and raced at the rear of the field. A Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stable representative J Manzelmann was advised that the filly would have warnings placed against its record for being difficult to load and its competitiveness.
 
HEYGERONIMO – Slow to begin.
 
TWISTED CROWN – Slow to begin. Proved difficult to load and delayed the start, Trainer A Stephens will be advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
TOP KNOT – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
SPARMAN – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SARGE BRIGARDE – Raced four wide with cover throughout.
 
Race 2: Simmons Bakery BenchMark 65 Handicap 1075m
 
JOMAR’S ELEMENT – Slow to begin.
 
FINAL HOPE – Raced three wide without cover from near the 800 metres. Jockey P Romeo reported that the mare hung out from near the 800 metres.
 
ONEMORE BOPA – Steadied approaching the 800 metres when SNEAKY SNIPER (J King) laid in marginally. Jockey J King was advised to show greater care in the circumstances.
 
SNEAKY SNIPER – Jockey J King reported that the gelding laid in for a short distance near the 800 metres.
 
Race 3: Kerry Lynch Concrete Class 2 Plate 1200m
 
SIEGE OF ENNIS – Jockey N Summers replaced Jockey B Richardson. Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
MOWER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GRANOLA STATE – Raced four without cover throughout.
 
DIRTY RASCAL – Hung out near the 300 metres when taking the home turn.
 
Race 4: TRC Barrrier Boys Class B Handicap 1400m
 
IF BY CHANCE – Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer B Johnson to substitute App. T Townsend as the rider when Jockey B Richardson was no longer available. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
KANUI – Began awkwardly.
 
DAUNTING QUEEN – Shifted out on jumping and bumped TOKAREV.
 
TOKAREV – Bumped on jumping.
 
LIBERATION LAD – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Inconvenienced near the 300 metres when BONNCHELON (N Summers) shifted out resulting in TOKAREV (T Doyle) shifting out onto LENNON’S PADDOCK (P Romeo) tightening LIBERATION LAD which was also tightened when IF BY CHANCE (T Townsend) shifted in marginally at this point as well.  
 
BONNCHELON – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
App. L Dodds was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100 metres.
 
 
 
Race 5: Rideout Racing Open Handicap 800m
 
BOOT SHAKER – Jockey M Barnham replaced Jockey B Richardson. Cast the near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer R Williams was advised that BOOT SHAKER would be barred from racing for 3 months and must gallop over 1000 metres to the satisfaction of stewards.
