QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Thangool Race Club 17th April 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr E. SuliStewards – Mr J. Adams, Mr J. DayClerk of Scales – Stewards Judge – Mr B. MoschionVeterinarian – Dr K. Scott Starter – Mr L. Wareham Race 1: RAY WHITE BILOELA Maiden Plate 1075Metres KALGOOLIE – Was declared a late scratching at 8:00am due to no available rider. REFUTATION – Slow to begin. AWESOME BELL – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer S. Sigvart was advised that a bar would be placed on the horse under the provisions of AR79(4)(b) in that it would be stood down for a period of 3 months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of 1000m in the presence of stewards would it be allowed to accept in any future race starts. Trainer S. Sigvart advised stewards that AWESOME BELL would now be retired. SHADFORTH LASS (NZ) – Raced wide early. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice Jockey S. Stephen stated that her mount proved difficult to steer around the home turn. SHEZROYAL – Raced wide throughout. BOOTYFUL DIVA – Overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 700m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of AWESOME BELL, who shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice C. Collis, rider of AWESOME BELL, had his license to ride in races suspended under AR131(a) for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 25th of April 2021 to midnight 4th of May 2021. Race 2: AUSLEC/LH BILOELA OPEN Plate 1075Metres AHWAHNEECHEE – Overraced in the early stages. FAB’S COWBOY – Overraced in the early stages. GALAPAGOS – Slow to begin. Apprentice Jockey D. McGillivray failed to claim his full allowance under AR143(14)(a) and was fined a sum of $200.00. WRECKING BALL – Slow into stride. Race 3: RIDEOUT RACING Class B Handicap 1200Metres CAPTAIN FOX – Jumped away awkwardly. THE BEAT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. DAKIEL LASS – Raced wide throughout. Jockey C. McIver stated that the mare failed to respond to his riding urges throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed reveal any abnormalities. SETLIN SAGE – Jockey M. Gray was granted permission from stewards to ride SETLIN SAGE 0.5kg overweight. Raced wide in the early stages. IQELA – Raced wide throughout. ON THE TWEED – Jumped away awkwardly. Race 4: DEVINE RACING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 Metres COACH – Slow to begin. TAKE A SHINE – Was disappointed for a run on entering the home straight. Held up for clear running in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages. MONTEREY LAD – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. DECK OF ACES – Raced wide in the early stages. Correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice Jockey S. Stephan to view the available photo of the finish. After reviewing the photo, S. Stephan was satisfied with the judges placings and correct weight was confirmed. TEYA – Raced wide throughout. Race 5: BRENNAN RACING QTIC BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 800Metres VOLUM – Jumped away awkwardly. In the vicinity of the 450m, was inconvenienced for room from LIEUTENANT as it had to take action to avoid the heels of GLOBAL VENTURE. LIEUTENANT – Slow to begin. Correct weight was delayed allowing stewards to give consideration to an objection lodged by Apprentice D. McGillivray, rider of the fourth placed LIEUTENANT against GLOBAL VENTURE, ridden by Jockey J. Stephens being declared the winner alleging interference from the vicinity of the 450m. It was established that GLOBAL VENTURE shifted in causing Apprentice Jockey D. McGillivray to take action on LIEUTENANT to avoid the heels of GLOBAL VENTURE. Bearing in mind where the incident took place, the manner in which both horses finished the race off, and the beaten margin, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that LIEUTENANT would have beaten GLOBAL VENTURE, and as such the protest was dismissed and correct weight was given on the numbers 7-4-5-2. Jockey J. Stephens rider of GLOBAL VENTURE had his license to ride in races suspended under AR131(a) for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 17th of April 2021 to midnight 24th of April 2021. NATIVE BEE – Slow to begin. ISIS JECTALE – In the vicinity of the 450m was inconvenienced for clear running as a result of VOLUM being forced inwards by LIEUTENANT which was checked and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GLOBAL VENTURE. As a result ISIS JECTALE came in contact with the inside running rail for a number of strides. THE SWELL – Jumped away awkwardly. GLOBAL VENTURE – Approaching the 450m shifted inwards inconveniencing LIEUTENANT which had to check to avoid heels. TEDDER EXPRESS – Was declared a late scratching due to no available rider. ZORRO FEMININO – Jockey M. Gray was granted permission from stewards to ride ZORRO FEMININO 0.5kg overweight.
