CHEESIE – Stewards gave permission for the late application of blinkers to the mare. Trainer J Hearne Trainer of CHEESIE was fined $100 under the provision of AR206(2). CLUSTERFEST – Slow to begin. ON THE TWEED – Was declared a late scratching at 12.30pm on veterinary advice after injuring its near side hip enroute to the course. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 12.30pm as following: Win Bets - Cheesie - 3 centsPlace Bets - Cheesie - 3 centsPlace Bets (For 2nd) – A Good Chance - 4 centsAll monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.Trainer D. Schultz was advised that ON THE TWEED would require a veterinary clearance prior to accepting for a future race start. Race 2: M AND M ELECTRICS Maiden Plate 800Metres CLEAR TITLE – Raced green under pressure in the straight. MISERABLE – Had to shift out passing the 100m to avoid the heels of CLEAR TITLE, which was racing greenly. MORATA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. Raced wide throughout the event. RECUSE – Laid in during the early stages. EMPEROR’S REWARD – Raced greenly throughout the event. Following the running of this event, Jockey J Baker was examined by the Queensland Ambulance Officers and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. Race 3: MILNE BROS Class B Handicap 800Metres ZARNADO – Laid out rounding the home turn. MR NODDY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J Baker was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finish. PURE RUBICK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. Race 4: NOEL HOWARD MEMORIAL NEWMARKET Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200 Metres WALSHIE – Overraced throughout the event. COACH - Jumped away awkwardly. SEQUABLUR – Raced wide throughout. SPRINGTHORPE – Hampered on jumping away. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight when awkwardly placed on the heels of DJEBEL READY. DJEBEL READY – Laid out rounding the home turn. SCANDINA – Raced wide throughout. Race 5: ERIC AND VAL NOBBS MEMORIAL THANGOOL CUP Open Handicap 1600Metres Correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice A Donald to view the stewards patrol films to ascertain if she had ground to lodge an objection. After viewing films, Apprentice A Donald declined to lodge and objection and correct weight was declared. DAUNTING QUEEN – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and became awkwardly placed on heels for a number of strides passing the 300m. MASON’S CHANCE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. CRAIGLEA ARION – Stewards gave permission for Jockey J. Baker to ride the Gelding two kilograms overweight. Jockey Baker was fined $200 under the provisions of AR190(3). Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve into clear running. NATIVE BEE – Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight after CRAIGLEA ARION shifted out to improve. VERMUTIN – Late scratching at 11.39am due to no available rider. DESTINATION ROCKS – Laid in under pressure in the straight. BONVILLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin.
