GENERAL
 
Following an inspection of the track prior to the running of race 1, the track was upgraded to a FIRM 2.  
 
 
Race 1: M & M ELECTRICS Maiden Plate (800 Metres)
 
BOOM KING – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
CHECKPOINT CHARLIE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, bumping THINKICANGIDDYUPGO.
 
KAPPY – Slow to begin.

MADANCER – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOLLOY – Declared a late scratching at 8:31am due to no available rider.
 
PONGA’S GIRL – Slow into stride. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice N. Olzard reported that her mount was inclined to hang in throughout the event.
 
THINKICANGIDDYUPGO – Bumped on jumping by CHECKPOINT CHARLIE. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LOST ‘N’ FOUND – Raced wide throughout the event. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 2: GORDON KRAFFT MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (800 Metres)
 
ABSOLUTE LEGEND – Reared on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record. Overraced in the early stages of the event. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
BORNEES LAD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE WAITING MAN – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: PAT & BETTY BRENNAN QTIS Class 1 Handicap (1200 Metres)
 
ROCKETORO – Slow into stride. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice E. Molloy stated that her mount failed to respond to her riding urges throughout the event and was disappointed with the performance in today’s event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which no significant abnormalities.
 
ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping.
 
PINOCCHIO LASS – Raced wide throughout the event. Overraced in the early stages.
 
 
Race 4: MILNE BROS Class B Handicap (1400 Metres)
 
LEVALET – Overraced in the early stages of the event. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
TELMESOMETHIN’GIRL – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Shifted out abruptly passing the 200m before being corrected by its rider.
 
SENSATIONABULL – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BODY AND SOUL – Bumped on jumping by CORBIN.
 
CORBIN – Shifted out on jumping, bumping BODY AND SOUL.
 
 
Race 5: NOEL HOWARD MEMORIAL THANGOOL NEWMARKET BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1200 Metres)
 
TYCOON THUNDER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BAYERISCHE – Jockey C. McIver was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
MOST IMPRESSIVE (NZ) – Elected to shift out wider passing the 400m before shifting inwards approaching the 350m to obtain clear racing room. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
REAL HUSSY – Slow into stride.
 
JELLISHOT – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Apprentice B. Johnson stated she was disappointed in today’s performance as JELLISHOT failed to travel throughout the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to be lame in both hind legs. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare’s next future race start.
 
 
Race 6: ERIC & VAL NOBBS MEMORIAL THANGOOL CUP OPEN Handicap (1600 Metres)
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Apprentice N. Olzard (MOENAVE), 2nd placegetter, viewed the stewards patrol footage before deciding not to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.
 
STARSONIC – Overraced in the early stages of the event. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.  
 
MOENAVE – Slow into stride. Elected to shift wide into clear racing room passing the 600m.
 
PESHWA – Overraced in the early stages of the event.
 
TAKE THE LEAD – Slow to begin.
 
NATIVE BEE – Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted wider when entering the home straight to obtain clear racing room. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
