OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – H Gillett
Stewards – S Larkins, E Suli, G Wust

GENERAL
Due to apprentice Brooke Johnson being injured and jockey C Bayliss not attending the meeting, rider replacements were approved as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Due

Race 1: BILOELA PLUMBING WORKS OPEN HANDICAP         1300 M

BRAD – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. When queried in relation to BRAD racing forward jockey A Butler advised that after beginning well, he was happy to maintain a forward position if possible. Mr Butler added that racing into the first turn he urged his mount for a distance to avoid being crossed by multiple runners which were racing wide and to his outside.

STARSONIC – Raced wide throughout.

MOMACK – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Trainer R Hay advised that while he was disappointed in the performance of MOMACK, he was mindful that the gelding was transported to the abandoned Tambo meeting at the weekend and with the travel involved for today’s meeting the gelding may be jaded. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

REAL KEY – Raced keen in the early stages when leading.

JETSKI – Trainer Ms S Green was queried in relation to the improved performance of the gelding by comparison to its most recent starts. Ms Green advised that the gelding has steadily showed improvement in condition and fitness since joining the stable and were confident of JETSKI performing better in today’s event. Ms Green further added that the addition of blinkers and a tongue tie since JETSKI’S most recent start was of significant benefit.

MOENAVE – A fraction slow to begin.

MEDIA EMPIRE – Raced keenly in the early stages.

Race 2: TOP PUB COMMERCIAL HOTEL BILOELA MAIDEN PLATE  1300 M

FLAWLESS AMBITION – Pulled hard in the run when racing outside the leader. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

KLONDIKE STRIKE – Jockey J Stanley was reminded of his obligations to ensure that he rides his mounts out fully to the finish. In adopting this approach, stewards could not be satisfied that the actions of Mr Stanley had cost his mount the opportunity to finish in a better position considering the immediate proximity of the finish line that he had stopped riding and the manner in which his mount finished the race off.

PORTOLA (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.

SIRENE – Raced wide throughout.

DIAMOND SKY – Over raced in the early stages and put in an awkward stride around the 900m turn. Raced greenly throughout the run. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

HE'LL HAVACHAT – Broke through the front of the barriers and was quickly restrained. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rounding the turn near the 900m commenced to lay out and was momentarily restrained from the heels of DIAMOND SKY.

DIVIDER – Slow to begin.

Race 3: HELLOWORLD TRAVEL BILOELA MAIDEN PLATE      800 M

The start was delayed considerably when two runners had to be removed from the barriers and vet checked.

IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – Fractious in the barriers and got its leg up in the barriers. Was removed from the gates and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced wide with cover. Jockey J Stanley advised that prior to the race he was satisfied with his mounts action, however after failing to show any speed in the early stages he felt that the gelding may have showed signs of soreness and that the gelding laid out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of soreness to the left fore leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to IRRESISTIBLE FORCE racing again.

MAGNETIC MAN - Got its leg up in the barriers. Was removed from the gates and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced greenly soon after the start and lost ground as a consequence.

BET LUCY – As apprentice N Olzard was unable to claim any portion of her allowance apprentice A Graham was the approved replacement rider. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in apprentice A Graham having to stop riding and straighten her mount on a number of occasions. Trainer L Wanless was questioned regarding his runner being presented late into the mounting yard. Mr Wanless explained that during the saddling process the original girth was too small and as a result of obtaining a suitably sized girth, this delayed the horses arrival into the mounting yard.

Race 5: HEILBRONN'S MENSLAND BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP    1075 M

FAST SONG – Bumped and carried wider near the 500m. Trainer A Briskey advised that he felt the horse proved to be disappointing although racing second up for a significant period. The trainer added that the firmer track conditions may not have suited the gelding today.

AWESOME MISS – Began awkwardly and slow to muster early speed. Soon after the start momentarily steadied from the heels of BARRY’S LANE. Raced wide throughout.

AFROGINASOCK – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

CAMAROSA – Briefly tightened around the 800m turn.

BALEXIA – Raced wide from at point near the 800m. Near the 400m, laid in and had to steadied from the heels of SEEYOU LATER.

BARRY'S LANE – Raced wide early.

Race 6: BERWICK EQUINE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400 M

MOTION LEGEND – When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer R Williams advised that he has recently trying varying gear changes with the gelding and was confident of an improved performance today. The trainer added that the horse continues to work well and has proved to be frustrating in getting the gelding to perform at its best.

ONCHAO – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced leaving the 500m.

EL OF A SENORITA – Apprentice J McMurray advised that the mare travelled well throughout, however when asked for an effort, failed to run on as expected. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer C Taylor advised that he was of the opinion that EL OF A SENORITA raced flat in today’s event however he was not overly disappointed in the run and would likely continue with the preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of a poor post-race recovery.

YULE MY HERO - Attempted to shift out from behind the leader, JELLISHOT, leaving the 500m, however was unsuccessful and remained held for some distance until entering the home straight.
