QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Thangool Race Club Inc 20th of July 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – H. GillettStewards – T. Hudson, E. Suli General Following a track inspection prior the running of race 1 stewards upgraded the track to a good 3 Race 1: HOWARD HELICOPTERS QTIS Maiden Plate 1075M The start of the race was delayed when JEWELMAE dislodged apprentice B. Youngberry on route to the barriers and gallop for a short distance before being captured by the clerks. The mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Apprentice B. Youngberry was assessed by QAS and cleared to take her ride in the race. MEDIA GEM – Near the 400m became awkward in its action for a number of strides. Apprentice N. Olzard stated when questioned that MEDIA GEM may have became awkwardly placed on the inside camber and as a result became unbalanced in its stride. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. THE UPRISING – Began awkwardly and slow to begin. KING ALE – Bumped on jumping by RIVELLY. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. OUT BID ME – Jumped outwards at the start. Raced wide throughout. JEWELMAE – Jumped inwards at the start. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that a warning would be placed on JEWELMAE record due to its pre-race behaviour. SEND THE MONEY – Leaving the 400m made contact with MEDIA GEM, when that runner became awkward in its action, resulting in SEND THE MONEY blundering and jockey T. Chambers almost being dislodged. RIVELLY – Jumped inwards at the start bumping KING ALE. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: LEE CRANE HIRE BENCHMARK 65 Hcp 1075M BOSTON CITY – Tightened on jumping by TUPELAWARA which shifted in and had to momentarily restrain. Raced wide in the middle stages. HARVESTA – Tightened on jumping by TUPELAWARA which shifted in and had to momentarily restrain. TUPELAWARA – Shifted inwards shortly after the start tightening HARVESTA and BOSTON CITY. After assessing the available replays, stewards could not be satisfied on the evidence available to issue a charge against apprentice P. Carter, however stewards advised Ms Carter to exercise more care in similar circumstances. INVICTUS LAD – Over raced in the early stages. Shifted wider near the 300m in an attempt to improve. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: BATCHFIRE RESOURCES BENCHMARK 45 Hcp 1200M Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards viewed the available replays after the barriers had failed to open using the conventional method on first attempt and as a result used an alternate method to effect the start. After viewing the replays stewards were satisfied that all runners were afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers. GIDDY UP GIDLEIGH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. MAVERICK HENRY – Raced wide throughout. CINDERELLA MAN – Declared a late scratching at 8:00am due to no available rider. CRAIGLEA ETNA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey H. Richardson was reminded of her obligation to stop and straighten her mount when shifting ground. FROSTWOOD – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. MR MEDIA – Raced wide throughout. SILENT ANGEL – Near the 800m checked and lost ground, stewards inquired into the incident involving jockey H. Richardson (CRAIGLEA ETNA), apprentice J. Devine (VALENTINA EXPRESS) and jockey C. Rodgers (MR MEDIA), after hearing evidence from all riders and viewing the available replays the stewards could not be satisfied in issuing a charge against jockey H. Richardson, however stewards reminded her of her obligations to ensure her mount is clear of other runners when shifting ground. MISS SHALAA – Declared a late scratching at 9:20am due to no available rider. ANNIE’S TOP – Slow into stride. TELMESOMTHIN’GIRL - Declared a late scratching at 9:20am due to no available rider. Race 4: FIRST GRADE CONTRACT MAINTENANCE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Hcp 1400M DERBARI – Stood flat footed at the start (4L). Raced wide in the middle stages. Stewards advised trainer C. Rodgers that a warning would be placed on DEBARI for standing flat footed. INTROVERT – Began awkwardly. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance jockey H. Richardson stated that the gelding had travelled well throughout but when asked for an effort it failed to respond, she further added that in her opinion INTROVERT may have jarred up due to the firmer track conditions compared to its most recent starts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. BANKONAJET – Raced wide throughout. ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Bounded on jumping. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. DIAMOND SKY – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide in the middle stages. COCO CUBER – Over raced in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. WHATJEUDOIN’ – Apprentice P. Carter was reprimanded under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance. When considering penalty stewards were mindful of Ms Carter’s record in relation to the rule, her inexperience race riding, the circumstances in which she gained the ride and the lack of riders available at the meeting. READYENTIME – Shifted out abruptly at the start and slow to begin as a result. Trainer B. Murry was advised that a warning would be placed on READYENTIME’s record for shifting out abruptly at the start. PORTOLA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Apprentice B. Youngberry reported that she had dropped her whip a short distance prior to the winning post. Race 5: AMA MAINTENANCE ALLIANCE OPEN Plate 1400M ECHO POINT – Attempted to improve wider on the track in the middle stages. RUFFIN’ IT – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. SAVOURY (NZ) – Began awkwardly and slow to begin. TRICKY BEANS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. RANGI TOA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
