GENERAL

When Apprentice S Blunt was indisposed due to injury, stewards permitted the rider replacement as per the stewards’ race-day summary. Apprentice Blunt was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to riding again.

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 3. LAST LAUGH – Jockey J Stanley +0.5kg (55.5kg)


Race 1: MILNE BROS TRUCKS & TRACTORS MAIDEN PLATE (1600m)

AIN'T NOBODY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.

NEO DIAMOND – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in onto the heels of ICE BLIZZARD passing the 200m before shifting out to obtain clear racing room.

YONAKA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

MONTEVECCHIO – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced in restricted room passing the 20m momentarily.

SEND THE MONEY – Jumped away very awkwardly, resulting in apprentice B Johnson becoming unbalanced on jumping. Raced wide from the 500m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

ICE BLIZZARD – Laid out rounding the home-turn. When asked to comment on the performance jockey J Stanley travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort from the 400m proved disappointing.

Following the running of this race, apprentice B Johnson was examined by QAS and was deemed unfit to fulfill her remaining engagements. Apprentice Johnson was advised she requires a medical clearance prior to riding again.


Race 2: BILOELA BOBCATS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1600m)

LONERGY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover.

MERLOMANN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

NATIVE BEE – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

SADDLES – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

MOMENT OF TRUTH – Jumped away awkwardly.

SOFTEN IT UP – Raced keenly in the early stages.

CASH ARTIST – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 12:34pm after being fractious during transport to the course. Trainer L Wanless was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.


Race 3: RED STEER HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (800m)

EXTREMAARTY – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

MARTINI MOMENT – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung in rounding the home-turn and had to be steadied off the heels of LAST LAUGH. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer B Trimble was advised that the mare would have a further warning placed on its record and that stewards would monitor the rider engagement of the mare moving forward.

GREEN PARK – Raced in restricted room for some distance passing the 300m to the inside of COBBO.

LAST LAUGH – Jumped away awkwardly.


Race 4: LCH SPECIALISED CRANE SERVICE MAIDEN PLATE (800m)

POWERCHUTE – Jumped away awkwardly. Jockey A Spinks dropped his whip near the 150m.

SAMPHIRE GREEN (IRE) – Bumped on jumping heavily with WINNING BLITZ.

STORMIN' NORMAN – Apprentice L O’Donnell was reminded of her obligations under AR131(b) to ride her mount out fully to the finish.

CONDAMINE ROSE – Raced wide throughout.

LONG PLAY – Shifted out abruptly soon after the start. Over raced throughout the early and middle stages. Jockey W Satherley reported that the mare was inclined to race very greenly throughout. Trainer J Poots was advised that a warning would be on the mare’s record.

READY TO RHYME – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

WINNING BLITZ – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages.

JACKYLLS DANSA – Jumped away awkwardly and was crowded soon after the start. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice M Apel reported the filly was inclined to race greenly throughout event.


Race 5: BERWICK EQUINE QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1075m)

QUARTERSHARE – Declared a late scratching at 9:00am on veterinary advice. Trainer T Potter was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

DIAMOND MONEY – Over raced throughout the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when CATMISS shifted out.

BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.

GREYLIST – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping CATMISS. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested when awkwardly placed on the heels of LOVE MY LOUIS.

CATMISS – Bumped on jumping when GREYLIST shifted out. Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages despite the efforts of its rider and momentarily inconvenienced DIAMOND MONEY. Trainer C Taylor was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s record.

VALENTINA EXPRESS – Raced keenly in the early stages.

LOVE MY LOUIS – Jumped away awkwardly.

OUR HEART THROB – Raced keenly in the early stages.


Race 6: FLEXIHIRE BILOELA QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1075m)

JOHNNY UTAH – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.

GETTIN' LIPPY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

CRAIGLEA THERA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

TAHKIAN BUBBLES – Raced keenly in the early stages.

OUR BERLINETTA – Trainer T Cook advised in his opinion that the mare failed to handle the firmer track conditions. Trainer Cook added he would now consider the mare’s immediate racing future, indicating that it would likely be sent for a freshen-up. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

SHOW AND GO – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey W Satherley advised that the mare failed to travel at any stage of the race and proved disappointing.

WE GIRLS – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn.

MASALI RAFFA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.


Race 7: BILOELA DISCOUNT CHEMIST BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1200m)

STAR GAMBLE – Stewards questioned apprentice C Stuart in relation to the tactics adopted on the gelding. Apprentice Stuart advised that he had been instructed to obtain a forward position on the gelding, which he was able to obtain with relatively ease, however came under pressure in the middle stages of the races and weakened thereafter. When questioned, trainer G Bell confirmed that they were the instructions issued and that it was consistent with the instructions issued last start, however it had not been their intention to lead in the manner in which STAR GAMBLE did so on this occasion. Trainer G Bell was reminded of her obligations in ensuring any changes in a horse’s recent racing pattern be relayed to stewards.

NEW LEVEL (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for some distance passing the 200m between CAVENTE and HOLY CROWN.

PREPOTENT – Inclined to lay out throughout the event. Restrained off the heels of NEW LEVEL near the 1000m when racing keenly.

CAVENTE – Raced wide throughout.

MAGIC ON ICE – Jumped away awkwardly before being crowded between runners.

WHAT A WEEKEND – Raced keenly in the early stages.

IMAGINE THAT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

HOLY CROWN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 8: FIRST GRADE CONTRACT MAINTENANCE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1400m)

LADY TOWNSON (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and bumped heavily with GIGI FILLE. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

BIG SHOOTER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

LADY MASQUERADE – Slow to begin. Over raced throughout the early and middle stages.

REPLACE THE ACE – Over raced throughout the early and middle stages.

GIGI FILLE – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with GIGI FILLE, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Raced wide throughout.

PAULI – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn.

MISS PALLADIUM – Proved very reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 5:18pm after becoming fractious in the barriers and rearing over. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on MISS PALLADIUM be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply:

5 cents in the dollar for the win (LADY TOWNSON (NZ))
14 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner (LADY TOWNSON (NZ))
4 cents in the dollar for second place (REPLACE THE ACE)
3 cents in the dollar for third place (LADY MASQUERADE)

Trainer G Bell was advised that the mare would now be required to barrier trial on two consecutive occasions prior to racing again. Trainer Bell advised that she would now consider the mare’s immediate racing future indicating it would most likely now be retired.

ROCKY REBEL – Jumped away awkwardly. Apprentice A Graham was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride out over the concluding stages. In assessing the matter, stewards were not satisfied her actions compromised her mounts chances of finishing third.

LENNY ROCKET – When Apprentice B Johnson (non-claiming) was indisposed due to injury, stewards permitted jockey C McIver to be declared the replacement rider.
