After considering all evidence and studying at the relevant videos jockey D Bradbury was given the benefit of a grave doubt as to whether he had contravened AR137Aa. Hearts Pride tended to over race in the middle stages of the event. Jockey D Sewell and Trainer R McLachlan were questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Hearts Pride, which compounded over the concluding stages of the event. Jockey Sewell advised that Hearts Pride had travelled fairly until the 600 metres and when placed under pressure failed to respond. McLachlan advised that Hearts Pride was at the end of a lengthy preparation and it was his opinion the gelding may be in need of a spell. A veterinary examination of Hearts Pride revealed the horse to be sore in both front fetlock joints and also suffering from a heart murmur. Trainer R McLauchlan was advised that Hearts Pride would require a vetinary clearance before being permitted to race and the stewards will require the results of an ECG test before Hearts Pride can compete in a trial or race.
Race 6 Class 3 Handicap 1000 Metres 12 Starters
After being marginally slow to begin Candy Mountain was checked shortly after the start by Sly Slot, which was taken in by Morries Finito. An enquiry was held into the reason for Wanddini falling at the 250 metres. After taking evidence from jockey D Bradbury (Wanddini) and also M Campbell (Sly Slot) it was established that Sly Slot commenced to tire in the early stages of the straight and shifted out. Wanddini, which was trailing, made ground quickly and clipped the heels of Sly Slot and fell. No blame could be attached to any particular rider. Stewards took no further action. It was noted that Silver Native and Nadzab Drive were both checked as a result of Wanddini falling. Wanddini was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon following this incident and found to have sustained no visible injuries.
