RACE 6: OPEN HANDICAP - ABOUT 1960 METRES - 12 STARTERS
As S. Campton, the declared rider for SWELL BOY, was to be overweight, J. Felix was substituted. S. Campton was fined $100 for being overweight (AR.120(b)).

Jockey Stopps was cautioned after being given the benefit of a very grave doubt as to whether he was entirely responsible for the incident. Stewards acknowledged that contact was made with FOREIGN MONARCH (Apprentice T. Maeda), which was racing to the outside of GROWING CONCERN, and this may have placed GROWING CONCERN on an inward path.
