The start was delayed when the Ambulance failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time.
PRINCESS CAVIAR (App. J Kuskopf), ROCKYS DAISY (App. S. Wiseman) and ALITTLEBITOFDUEY (T. Bannon) were slow into stride.
Near the 250 metres BUCKANARA (F. Edwards) shifted in slightly, making contact with the running rail, and shortly thereafter shifted in again and made heavy contact with the running rail, became very unbalanced and lost considerable ground.
In the early part of the home straight PALMERSTON NORTH (C. Whiteley) was inclined to lay in.
PRINCESS CAVIAR (App. J. Kuskopf) and NAGINI (D. Simmons) raced wide throughout.
Stewards questioned Jockey C. Whiteley as to his riding of PALMERSTON NORTH in the home straight. Jockey Whiteley stated that he was of the view that the gelding was a beaten horse and that PALMERSTON NORTH was not responding to his riding. Consequently he was reluctant to put the horse under heavy riding. Jockey Whiteley was advised that he should ride his mounts so as not to leave any room for questioning.
Race 2: - The Aqua Buffet Open Handicap – 1000 Metres

Jockey I. Toward pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 800 metres he permitted DAPH ‘N’ ALF to shift in when insufficiently clear of BAR ATTACK, which in turn was taken in, forcing MAGIC COUNTRY to shift in onto ERFAAN (C. Whiteley). Both BAR ATTACK and ERFAAN were both tightened for room and lost their rightful running. Jockey Toward was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 2 meetings, to commence at midnight on 14th December 2013, up to and including Sunday 22nd December 2013.

DAZZLING MAGIC (T. Bannon) proved difficult to load into the barriers. A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey F. Edwards, the rider of MOLONGLE CHIEF which finished 4th, to view the official photo finish print. Having done so, Jockey Edwards was satisfied with the judge’s placings and stewards declared correct weight.
CHARLIE’S GOLD (J. Felix) was slow into stride.

On jumping, DAYTONA ROAD (D. Hayse) and BELLE I AM (D. Simmons) were tightened for room between LIVINGSTON (W. D’Avila) and DAZZLING MAGIC (T. Bannon), both of which shifted ground.
Near the 600 metres DAZZLING MAGIC commenced to hang out and had to be steadied from the heels of OUTBACK SUPREMACY (S. Pawsey).
At the 400 metres DAZZLING MAGIC had to be steadied when tightened for room between LIVINGSTON and SILVER STAR (G. Kliese), both of which shifted ground slightly.

At the 100 metres FRENCH LESSON and ELECTRIC BLUE (I. Toward) were tightened for room when attempting a run between STEINBERG (P. Cullen) and COMIC RULER (C Whiteley), both of which shifted ground. As a consequence ELECTRIC BLUE was disappointed for a run and had to be checked.

CLUELESS reared in the barriers and became cast. The gelding was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and, acting on his advice, stewards ordered the late scratching of the gelding at 4.14 p.m.
Stewards subsequently ordered that all bets made on SHOWRUN and CLUELESS be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply in respect of the scratchings of SHOWRUN and CLUELESS:

Near the 1000 metres BIGHORN (I. Toward) shifted in slightly and tightened the running of JAYHAWK, which had to be steadied. Jockey Toward was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
