LATE RIDING CHANGES:

When Jockeys M. Elliott and C. Whiteley were indisposed and unable to fulfil their engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Whiteley was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.

Race 1: - Summer Festival of Racing @ Cluden QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – GLORIOUS GEORGE 2nd – SHE’S ALL OURS 3rd – VILLAINOUS LASS 4th – PENTHOUSE PUPPY
Trainer T. Rowe reported to stewards that DOCTOR TREV had sustained a mild stone bruise to its near foreleg and consequently was scratched on veterinary advice.

At the start SHE’S ALL OURS (W. D’Avila) shifted out onto OLD RED (D. Simmons).

On jumping PENTHOUSE POPPY (App. B. Swaffer) shifted out and bumped GLORIOUS GEORGE (G. Kliese).

In the home straight SHE’S ALL OURS was inclined to race greenly.

Race 2: - Racing @ Cluden Park Sunday 29 December Maiden Handicap – 1000 Metres
1st – WISHFUL 2nd - NAGINI 3rd – SOLE SURVIVOR 4th – RUM RATION

LADY ISLES (F. Edwards) and LADY GRAND (G. Kliese) bumped on jumping.

Approaching the 600 metres WISHFUL (App. S. Wiseman) improved onto the heels of OUR GEORGIA’S ROSE (T. Bannon) and had to be eased. Following the race trainer R. Baker reported that OUR GEORGIA’S ROSE had sustained minor lacerations to both hind legs.

LADY GRAND and KING EURI (P. Cullen) raced wide throughout.

Race 3: - werunasone.com.au Open Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – FAINT PRAISE 2nd – HEROIC ACTION 3rd – GENERAL RIPPA 4th – BOLT FROM THE BLUE

IMELDAMAY (T. Bannon) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 400 metres GENERAL RIPPA (W. D’Avila) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of OUR MIMI (F. Edwards)

OUR MIMI and GO AMIGO (App. S. Wiseman) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: – Audi Centre Townsville Maiden Plate – 1300 metres
1st – ALITTLEBITOFDUEY 2nd – SEQUALO SUZIE 3rd – SNIP PINS LASS 4th – AWESOME HORSESOM

NAGA VIPER (App. B. Swaffer) began awkwardly.

When the pace slackened near the 1000 metres RAY’S ROCKET (G. Kliese) steadied off the heels of LOVE FROM LYNDI (P. Cullen) and lost ground.

In the middle stages NAGA VIPER over-raced.

In the early part of the home straight PRESSUM (D. Hayse) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from behind CITY CHAT (S. Wilson),

From approaching the 300 metres until leaving the 200 metres CASINOJEAN (App. S. Wiseman) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

At the 200 metres PRESSUM was forced to race in restricted room when CITY CHAT shifted in.

CHARLIE’S GOLD (J. Felix) and AWESOME HORSESOM (W. D’Avila) raced wide throughout.

Stewards questioned Jockey T. Bannon as to the tactics adopted on ALITTLEBITOFDUEY. Jockey Bannon stated that she had been instructed to take up a forward position, if possible. Jockey Bannon said that the gelding had been slow to begin at its most recent start and that trainer Mr M. Bannon had added blinkers to the approved gear for ALITTLEBITOFDUEY, and this had been beneficial for the gelding. Jockey Bannon added that ALITTLEBIT OF DUEY will be ridden forward in its future starts.

Race 5: – XXXX Gold Class 2 Handicap – 1300 metres
1st – MORE THAN A SONG 2nd – SIMON BON ROCKET 3rd – NAIL ‘EM 4th – PRESS PLAY

When Jockey C. Whiteley was indisposed and unable to fulfil his engagement for STRICTLY MAGIC and no suitable senior rider was available, Stewards permitted App. J. Kuskopf to be substituted and to claim her 3kg allowance. Public announcements were made accordingly.

WOOLGAR ROAD (M. Cullen) and RATTLER’S LAD (P. Cullen) were slow to begin.

DANCING HUSSAR (D. Hayse) began awkwardly and then was slow into stride.

Leaving the 1100 metres FROG HOLLOW (F. Edwards) shifted in and brushed PRESS PLAY (W. D’Avila), forcing NAIL ‘EM (App. E. Ljung) across the heels of DECADENT (App. B. Swaffer) and having to be steadied.

Near the 1000 metres STRICTLY MAGIC (App. J. Kuskopf) shifted in onto FROG HOLLOW, resulting in PRESS PLAY being tightened for room. App. Kuskopf reported that STRICTLY MAGIC hung out for the entire race. Following the race App. Kuskopf and Jockey W. D’Avila reported that they were concerned about the actions of their respective mounts. A post-race veterinary examination of STRICTLY MAGIC did not reveal any abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination of PRESS PLAY did not reveal any abnormalities.

Leaving the 200 metres DANCING HUSSAR was held up and unable to obtain clear running from behind DECADENT and went to the line without being fully tested.

Race 6: – Verve Design Class 4 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – SEEK DE FORTUNE 2nd – JAXTER’S BALLET 3rd – TOUCH OF ELEGANCE 4th – TAMAMUSHI

At the start TOUCH OF ELEGANCE (W. D’Avila) shifted out and bumped HE’S A LADIES MAN (App. B. Swaffer).

TAMAMUSHI (D. Simmons) began awkwardly.

LITTLE DUCATI (D. Hayse) was slow into stride.

Approaching the home turn SMUTTY JOHNS (D. Andrews) had to steady off the heels of SEEK DE FORTUNE.

At approximately the 200 metres NODREMS (G. Kliese) was momentarily tightened for room by GENERAL HAP (S. Wilson), which shifted in slightly.

Upon returning to scale Jockey D. Hayse reported that LITTLE DUCATI failed to muster early speed and he was at a loss to explain the mare’s disappointing performance. Trainer M. Chillemi explained that the mare had been freshened up for today’s event and that she was disappointed with the horse’s performance. Ms Chillemi added that she will discuss the mare’s racing future with owners before deciding whether LITTLE DUCATI should be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination of LITTLE DUCATI revealed that the mare was displaying a poor post-race recovery rate and had a minor laceration to the left hind pastern.

HE’S A LADIES MAN raced wide throughout.

Race 7: - Merry Xmas From the TTC BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1630
1st – STRADIVARI MISS 2nd – KASA GOLD 3rd – BOLTONIAN 4th – FILLE VILAINE

GOGO DELAGO (W. D’Avila) and KASA GOLD (P. Cullen) were slow to begin.

At about the 900 metres ABSOLUTE KING (App. E. Ljung) had to be steadied when placed in restricted room by FILLE VILAINE (D. Hayse), which shifted in slightly onto STRADIVARI MISS (G. Kliese), which also was obliged to race in restricted room.

From the 300 metres until near the 150 metres BOLTONIAN (A. Spradau) was held up and unable to gain clear running from behind SALSBEEL (T. Bannon).

Stewards questioned App. J. Kuskopf as to why she apparently stopped riding LIKEFATHERLIKESON at approximately the 200 metres. App. Kuskopf stated that the gelding was commencing to lay out at that stage of the event and as a result she regathered her reins and then continued to ride the horse out to the finish. The explanation was noted.
