GENERAL:
Stewards today interviewed trainer Ms J. Trainer Hassett pleaded guilty to a charge under L.R.41 in that, as the trainer of the 4-year-old gelding DIVIDED, which is currently in work, and without the consent of the stewards, she did stable that gelding at a location other than her nominated stable address. Ms Hassett was fined $200.

1st – CYCLONE KAN 2nd - IN HIS ELEMENT 3rd – ONE BAR NONE 4th – HOW ABOUT ME
The start was delayed when SHE’S ALL OURS (S. Pawsey), which was fractious during its preliminary, was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Whilst parading behind the barriers riderless SHE’S ALL OURS again reared, slipped over and briefly escaped from the barrier attendant. SHE’S ALL OURS travelled a short distance in the chute before being recaptured, was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which performed poorly, revealed SHE’S ALL OURS to be sore in the back area. Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards that he would have the filly examined by his veterinary surgeon and will advise stewards of any further findings. Mr Rowe further advised that he would give consideration to sending the filly for a spell. Nevertheless he was advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to SHE’S ALL OURS being permitted to race again and that a warning will be placed on the horse’s race day manners. Warning on manners.
DRAGON HART (D. Hayse) and SHE’S ALL OURS began awkwardly.
JAMAICA DOLLAR (G. Kliese) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800 metres ONE BAR NONE (P. Cullen) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CYCLONE KAN (T. Bannon), which shifted in. Jockey T. Bannon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Leaving the 600 metres CYCLONE KAN commenced to hang out, then continued to do so until the end of the race and proved difficult to ride. Trainer L. Wright was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
DOCTOR TREV (App. B. Swaffer) and DRAGON HART raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: - SKY Racing Maiden Plate – 1000 metres
1st – NAGINI 2nd – STRUNG OUT 3rd – SMUTTY’S SISTER 4th – CHOMARU
The start was delayed when the bridle on CHOMARU (App. J. Kuskopf) became displaced and had to be re-fitted. The start was further delayed when CHOMARU proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer Ms M. Young was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
As the start was effected NAGINI (App. K. Aho) reared and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Campeao was advised that a warning will be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
MORE THAN CHARLIE (A. Dykes) was slow to begin.
Near the 200 metres SOLE SURVIVOR (App. J. Orman) had to be restrained when attempting a doubtful run to the inside of FRENCH JOY (S. Wilson), which after initially shifting out slightly shifted back in, further tightening the running of SOLE SURVIVOR. After taking into account all of the circumstances, stewards reprimanded Jockey S. Wilson and advised him to show greater care in similar circumstances.
RAINBOW ROSE (A. Coome) and BAGGER BLUES (P. Cullen) raced wide throughout.

As the start was effected PATTO’S GIRL (D. Hayse) bounded in the air and lost ground.
Approaching the 800 metres when being restrained to obtain a position closer to the running rail GLOUCESTER STORM commenced to over-race and threw its head in the air.
Stewards questioned App. S. Wiseman as to the tactics adopted on MANALUTE, which raced in a more forward position than was its customary pattern. App. Wiseman explained that her instructions were similar to those she was given at the gelding’s most recent start, which were to race in a midfield to rearward position. App. Wiseman added that that after beginning with the field today, from its wide barrier MANALUTE was caught extremely wide, and rather than restrain the horse and have it over-race, she allowed MANALUTE to improve forward and assume the lead, where the horse raced comfortably. Trainer B. Furber confirmed the instructions given to App. Wiseman and was also of the opinion that the addition of blinkers to the gelding’s approved gear for the first time may have contributed to the horse’s improved showing today. Mr Furber further advised stewards that he intends that the gelding will be ridden in a forward position at its future starts.
Race 6: – Like Us On Facebook BM75 Handicap – 1000 metres

Rounding the home turn CROTCHET (T. Bannon) was held up on the heels of SHADOW LINE and was unable to obtain clear running until leaving the 200 metres.
Leaving the 500 metres DEHERE HUNTER (S. Wilson) was held up and unable to improve until shifting wider approaching the 150 metres, where it finished the race off strongly.
QUEEN THYRA (App. S. Wiseman) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary examination of SIZZLELON, which compounded in the home straight, revealed that the gelding had a slower than normal post-race recovery rate.
Race 7: - www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Class 3 Plate – 1000 metres

Near the 200 metres NODREMS (App. S. Fawke) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so forced PEMBERTON (G. Kliese) out onto JAXTER’S BALLET, which then made contact with PINK ‘N’ BLUE (App. J. Orman), which shifted out and bumped EIREANN (App. B. Swaffer). BIGGS, which was racing to the outside of EIREANN, was forced wider in the incident. App. Fawke was advised to exercise more care.
BIGGS and EIREANN (App. B. Swaffer) raced wide throughout.

CASTLE EXPRESS (App. S. Fawke) commenced to hang out under pressure over the final 300 metres and when being corrected near the 150 metres became unbalanced and shifted in.
When questioned as to the seemingly disappointing performance of DIVINE LUCK, Apprentice J. Orman was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the gelding’s poor run today. App. Orman stated that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout, however once placed under pressure leaving the 500 metres failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer R. Chillemi expressed his disappointment with the gelding’s performance today and undertook to advise stewards if anything was amiss with DIVINE LUCK in the days following the event.
